must have been the early morning – but i forgot to place in a failsafe catch for removing activity stream records if the type was a match for new_blog_comment and new_blog_post. (as this must exists in order to pull in activity comments)
i’ll add this to the next update.
In reply to: External Group Blogs bugthe fix is not retro-active – so you’ll need to delete those out
In reply to: External-Group-blogs PluginIn reply to: Adding an Activity Stream into any pageyou can pull in whatever from the activity stream loop and place it anywhere (surprised no one has created a “stream widget” )
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/
if you want to keep it all using bp functions, look at bp-groups.php
I would set it up hooking on activating the user (or signup if you don’t care about the activation key)
_action( 'bp_core_activated_user'then call (with no pagination passed in and active type)
groups_get_groups(then loop over all the groups and call (which needs the user_id and group_id)
groups_join_group(only downside to join_group is it will call a new activity for joining – but a plus side is it updates the groupmeta counts.
*my standard disclaimer applies – only in theory nothing tested.
In reply to: Buddypress groups forums problemanything in the server error_logs? duplicate table names?
In reply to: Forum Reply Disconnectedsounds easy enough to do, just need to edit the entry.php theme file and add some function around the reply button if the type is ‘new_forum_post’ or new_forum_topic (note: acomment-comment class invokes the jquery for the activity comment reply)
if the activity action is ‘new_forum_post’ then the secondary_id is the post_id
and i believe if a ‘new_forum_topic’ the primary_id is the forum_id (otherwise on new_forum_post it is the group_id)
post_id or forum_id – you can grab the link to the group forum topic (some buried functions in bb or bp)
(fwiw, i have a working demo of the activity comments on a forum reply post working now: http://etivite.com/groups/test-group/forum/topic/my-test-topic-to-pull-in-activity-stream-comments-on-a-topic-reply/#topic )
In reply to: Buddypress groups forums problemwhat version of MySQL?
In reply to: Idea: Go directly to the most recent postif you use Group Forum Extras Plugin – i have a simple function in which you can wrap the ‘freshness’ col to the last post anchor
for the function code: “Link the freshness time_since to the last post”
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-forum-extras/other_notes/
in action::
Ha! Well I’d have to understand the problem clearly first

I’m still confused if his end goal is external bbpress <-> buddypress theme’d (like buddypress.org) or custom plugin to display external bbpress categorization (main themes) within buddypress on the /forums/ component page (similar to what i did with group forums extras and the forum index subplugin – example: http://etivite.com/forums/ )
BuddyPress restricts its own functions to a parent_id (BP_FORUMS_PARENT_FORUM_ID) so no internal bp functions will pull out external bbpress forums.
But – you can call some internal bbPress functions if bb_init is invoked. Not all will work (due to various linking issues or meta table stuff) but some will get you the info you need.
(example: http://etivite.com/groups/buddypress/forum/topic/quick-tip-remove-change-avatar-link-under-profile-if-avatar-upload-is-disabled/ note the “tags” section on the topic – this is actually calling a bbpress function but i had to rework the linking)
So given that… if we look at the bb-template/front-page.php we see the bb_forums() loop. and if you have an external bbPress hooked up… then just plug this code into buddypress/theme/forums/index.php
<?php if ( bb_forums() ) : ?>
<h2><?php _e('Forums'); ?></h2>
<table id="forumlist">
<tr>
<th><?php _e('Main Theme'); ?></th>
<th><?php _e('Topics'); ?></th>
<th><?php _e('Posts'); ?></th>
</tr>
<?php while ( bb_forum() ) : ?>
<?php if (bb_get_forum_is_category()) : ?>
<tr<?php bb_forum_class('bb-category'); ?>>
<td colspan="3"><?php bb_forum_pad( '<div class="nest">' ); ?><a href="<?php forum_link(); ?>"><?php forum_name(); ?></a><?php forum_description( array( 'before' => '<small> – ', 'after' => '</small>' ) ); ?><?php bb_forum_pad( '</div>' ); ?></td>
</tr>
<?php continue; endif; ?>
<tr<?php bb_forum_class(); ?>>
<td><?php bb_forum_pad( '<div class="nest">' ); ?><a href="<?php forum_link(); ?>"><?php forum_name(); ?></a><?php forum_description( array( 'before' => '<small> – ', 'after' => '</small>' ) ); ?><?php bb_forum_pad( '</div>' ); ?></td>
<td class="num"><?php forum_topics(); ?></td>
<td class="num"><?php forum_posts(); ?></td>
</tr>
<?php endwhile; ?>
</table>
<?php endif; // bb_forums() ?>BUT – the links are borked if it pulls up an internal bbpress group forum (so check is required for BP_FORUMS_PARENT_FORUM_ID and use the buddypress forum link function ) otherwise the links point to the configuration which the internal bbpress is using (which should be the same as an external bbpress install)
hopefully i confused everyone a bit more
In reply to: Idea: Admin Able to Post HTMLthere is already an allowed set of html tags for activity and group forums – which can be extended via plugins (i do this for bbcode) – sure it would be easy to change this up to restrict it to wp_cap levels
(though i don’t see a filter on $group->description)
What I mean is, I already created Main Themes in the bbPress admin area, but they aren’t appearing in BuddyPress…the last issue for me, as I understand this situation is “what code do I need to put in which BuddyPress file to make the Main Themes appear in my forum section.”
Man, this issue is getting SO SUPER OLD…can someone come step up to the plate?
Members are trying to help and have provided a few explanations on the issue of bbpress <-> buddypress. (in other threads too)
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasoh doh, i forgot – i’m blocking out certain activity items on my site but it will appear in the stream (in reply to)
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasbut it took a minute or two before the comment showed up and
shared host – so it will be a little slow – otherwise all the same activity posting code
I don’t see anything in my activity stream.
technically, since its a reply to an activity update (the new blog post) – you see it on your profile activity:
http://etivite.com/members/dennish/
One of my main concerns is what happens to all my existing comments?
not sure yet – or even i want to go down that road of converting of blog comments into the activity stream (since this requires the activity update for the new_blog_post to begin with – so those would somehow have to be injected into the activity stream ) – i’ll start a new thread on the plugin this week and can discuss more
What about pings/tracebacks?
doesn’t look to be a problem – but that may go tandem with the issue above
Can the admin delete comments?
A recent comments widget would also be cool.
Sure on both – behaves the exact same as the activity stream.
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum ExtrasSomeone had asked about pulling in Activity Stream items on the blog comments.
I came up with a simple solution that just replaces the WP Comments with the Activity stream entirely. This may not be for everyone; won’t include any sort of pre-activity-comment support, no more comment moderation, requires being logged in (obviously)
see it in action:
http://etivite.com/2010/04/what-does-it-mean/#activity-stream
I still have some work left but will release it as a new plugin later in the week.
are you trying to display the recent activity in the group directory, underneath their info?
I just wrote a Quick Tip about this on my demo site
includes the source code and the call to feed_item_title()
with the method i outlined you can add in the new_forum_posts to only show that activity
bp_activity_feed_item_title()fwiw, i have latest forum topics widget for the plugin group forum extras – i should have it updated this week (it might be in the trunk already – can’t remember)
In reply to: exclude admin in activitystreamsomething like this may work – just enter in the user_id of the admin account and the activity items are removed from the activity array.
function my_denied_admin_activity( $a, $activities ) {
//if admin we want to know
if ( is_site_admin() )
return $activities;
foreach ( $activities->activities as $key => $activity ) {
if ( $activity->user_id == 1 ) {
unset( $activities->activities[$key] );
$activities->activity_count = $activities->activity_count-1;
$activities->total_activity_count = $activities->total_activity_count-1;
$activities->pag_num = $activities->pag_num -1;
}
}
/* Renumber the array keys to account for missing items */
$activities_new = array_values( $activities->activities );
$activities->activities = $activities_new;
return $activities;
}
add_action( 'bp_has_activities', 'my_denied_admin_activity', 10, 2 );In reply to: Cincopa photo plugin is not a BP media componenteasy for anyone to to tagged their plugin ‘buddypress’ maybe there needs to be a verification? (in the code?)
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum ExtrasHey etiviti,
do you have a demo-page in order to see your plugin in action ?
Many thanks,
Demo site is up…
– (standard theme but with a few tweaks – which i outline on the site and blog)
though for some plugins you have to be logged in. (sorry another registration thing – too bad WP does not have their own auth service) I’ll also install a few other plugins which i have in the works now (nongroup support forum, group forum categorization, tags (widget, index) )
glad i did this – found a few bugs with my plugins and submitted some BP trac tickets
In reply to: Gravatar redirect chains cause too much load timewell the images from gravatar are displayed in the img src – not by third party scrips which wait until the dom content has loaded.
In reply to: Gravatar redirect chains cause too much load timewhat redirect chain is that?
only thing i see in
function bp_core_fetch_avatar( $args = '' ) {which might slow down the process is checking for
if ( file_exists( $avatar_folder_dir ) ) {if you have disabled avatar uploads for members.
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasthere is no action on the forums/index.php theme page above the forum-loop. I think this might be an error though. So you would need to move
do_action( 'bp_directory_forums_content' )above the forums-loop divfor the desc, just wrap it in
bp_create_excerpt( $listing->forum_desc, 255)(where 255 is the limit – i’ll also add this to the forum index widget too)
In reply to: Shortening Time Intervalyou’ll need to modifying that core function to adjust the time interval – there is no hook to change this via plugin or an easy way.
In reply to: Have you seen a Forum widget?that one might be a little overkill… i just whipped up a simple latest forum topics widget (using bp_has_forum_topics with a settable max). It will be in the next version of group forum extras (in the forum index subplugin – on trunk development version now if you need it)
