It may be possible to change up the
bp_core_new_nav_itemandbp_core_new_subnav_itembut each activated component and/or plugins will add their own items.you’ll probably need to dig around in
$bp->bp_navand$bp->bp_options_navand remove whatever from the array. (no idea what unpredictable results may happen)In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasit would be nice in the future, to have the option to display active topic below forums
in wp-admin settings to give users a choice,
As Andy mention above with getting more hooks into the template – this is just a restriction on what I could find on that template to insert the html. either
add_action( 'bp_directory_forums_content', 'bp_forum_extras_index_screen' );oradd_action( 'bp_after_directory_forums_list', 'bp_forum_extras_index_screen' )(but if you are not afraid of hacking up your own template – you could easily move things around)I’ll sit down (hopefully tomorrow) and look over bbPress templates and BP and see what/where can be added.
to have a widget which would display ‘forums’
without many details, like description, but simply a list with forums names
I need to look into how to create widgets (something on the bp site?) – the functionality is already there and would be very easy for me to add it in.
3) (least important new features, would be to have forums icons in the forum index
This would be the group avatar correct?
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasah shoot, sorry. I missed that.
you can quickly edit this file
bp-forums-extras-index.php
and replace
ORDER BY f.forum_order DESCwith
ORDER BY f.forum_order ASCI updated the trunk and 0.1.8 tag but did not increase the version number
if you need to readjust the order in a custom way – you can modify the database table wp_bb_forums (or whatever prefix is used) and change up the forum_order column.
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum ExtrasI’ll comb over and submit something this week. I just think a few which mimic some of the same hook positions that bbPress had (topic meta, post links – outside of admin-links, etc)
forgot: tagged up 0.1.8
also outlined some additional hacks using the plugin
http://blog.etiviti.com/2010/03/buddypress-hack-forum-tweaks-using-group-forum-extras-plugin/
In reply to: Update to 1.2.3always disable plugins before upgrading (best bet is to remove that plugin and add it back after completing the BP upgrade)
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasi’ll tag up a stable version later today – just adding in a few extra functions
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasi have updated the development version again to 1.6b3 which now includes RSS Feed for public group forum topics and topic posts.
also included a few extra functions which require theme edits but give a little more bbpress feel
Link the freshness time_since to the last post
edit theme
/bp-default/forums/forums-loop.phpChange:
<td>
<?php bp_the_topic_time_since_last_post() ?>
</td>To:
<td>
<a href="<?php echo bp_forum_extras_topic_last_post_link( 15 ); ?>"><?php bp_the_topic_time_since_last_post() ?></a>
</td>Note: 15 per_page is default for bp_has_forum_topic_posts – you may need to change this if you use a different per_page in the loop.
Add pagination next to topic title
theme edit
/bp-default/forums/forums-loop.phpAfter the topic title, Add:
<?php bp_forum_extras_topic_page_links( 15 ) ?>You may pass additional args – refer to paginate_links codex
if you would like to test it out… grab the download from ‘development version’ at:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-forum-extras/download/
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasbuttons already in the development version
In reply to: Requst: Featured Forumson the /groups/index.php theme file a hook is above the item-list-tabs (subnav)
<?php do_action( 'bp_before_directory_groups_content' ) ?>seems easy enough tag something against the groupmeta and display a group or two on that hook.
*edit – this is on the Groups component page – not the forums directory.
if you need a forum index, i’m working in that feature right now
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/new-plugin-buddypress-group-forum-extras/page/4#post-44475
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasok, so the shortcode way. try this one: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/boingball-bbcode/ (has the rules on the plugin page too)
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasdepends…
1) what version of the plugin now?
2) shortcode bbcode or bbcode to html?
if bbcode to html, then proper formatting of a link is like so Google It
if shortcode bbcode, then you’ll need to speak with the plugin author who provided the shortcodes
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasyou’ll need to download the development version (v1.6b) – not a stable tagged version.
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum ExtrasDevelopment Version update:
I have included a new subplugin called Forum Index, please download from here:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-forum-extras/download/
(make sure to remove the previous plugin before installing this one due to directory structure changes)
install on my testing site:
unfortunately some limitations with placement, behavior with the existing subnav ajax tabs, and css (something is auto adding alt class attribute on the tr element)
In reply to: BP 1.2 and bbPress admin/plugins@nuprn1, what did you modify? I noticed that posts in bbpress don’t show up on the activity notifications, and the public/private/hidden stuff doesn’t seem to work either…
I can’t remember but i had to rewrite a bunch of it – and also hack the bbPress core to play nice with the GMT buddypress timestamps. Then throw in that bpGroups uses xmlrpc – so personally i’m moving to open up bbpress within buddypress instead of running an external bbpress install (with all the hidden/private forums)
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extras1) Hitting the ‘Quote’ button populates the textarea with the text of the entire post being quoted, rather than just selected text. Is that the intended functionality?
2) Quoting a post that already quotes something (the much-feared QUOTE PYRAMID, or at least the beginning of one) doesn’t work (it populates the [cite] but not the [blockquote])… again wondering if that’s by design or not.
Yes both by design (pulls the entire post_content for the quote, blocks nested quoting) – well from the Ajaxed Quote plugin it was taken from – this is also common behavior on forum software too.
if you wanted highlight to quote type of feature – then all javascript for that type of behavior.
i just checked it into the development version
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-forum-extras/download/
fixed (wp acting up on media stuff)
I made a little progress on a forums index listing
then the Forums page sub-nav tabs would look like this:
the only action that will add something to the forums directory component subnav is
<?php do_action( 'bp_forums_directory_group_types' ) ?>which forces use of the ajaxbp_has_forum_topics( bp_ajax_querystring( 'forums' ) )so i decided to hook on
<?php do_action( 'bp_directory_forums_content' ) ?>ordo_action( 'bp_after_directory_forums_list' )both below the topic listings. the first action will display the forum index on all subnav ajax tabs (all topics, my topics, and tabs) the later will only display on the forums directory page until a subnav tab is clicked.http://files.etiviti.com/misc/buddypress/bp-forum-extras-forum-index.gif
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasno problem! sorry I didn’t catch the thread earlier – had an away-from-the-computer vacation.
have a look at the function
function bp_forums_directory_forums_setup() {which inserts the code to catch a new topic posts.Unfortunately the first check is
if ( $bp->current_component == $bp->forums->slug ) {so if you place the post new topic code on a different section it will fail.though you could mimic that function for your own needs
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasboone,
super fast look
if (isset($_GET["new"]) || $bp->current_component == BP_FORUMS_SLUG || $bp->current_action = 'forum' ) {is causing the issue – specifically
$bp->current_action = 'forum'– if i remove this the conflict no longer exists. you forgot the extra ==
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum Extrasi got a busy monday to catch up on work – but i’ll install the attachments plugin today and see what i can find out.
In reply to: Administrative Group Creating Onlyhttps://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-restrict-group-creation/ to restrict to certain cap levels
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-group-management/ – to add users/manage/etc
In reply to: I gave buddypress a tryThe problem I have with the forums in buddypress is, it does not have a forum layout. At the moment when I post topics it is does not flow very well! It would be easier if it was in the standard format, something like: Board name/ Categories/ Forums / Topics. This way all the topics could be kept much more neat.
with buddypress – everything is wrapped into groups – so you won’t see the traditional layout unless you rework the templates as such. (or install an external bbpress which links up with the groups)
In reply to: [New Plugin] BuddyPress Group Forum ExtrasI’m releasing an update to the the bbcode plugin – it’s not online yet but coming soon : https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/boingball-bbcode/
awesome! i’ll update my plugin to refer to this one – and an option to output the bbcode buttons too
mean I have to do …
don’t forget to remove the closing endif statement.
