In reply to: How do I change the name of the “Forum” tab
Actually, I would create a custom language file. In the end it’s much simpler in my opinion. We did basically what you’re talking about.

In reply to: BuddyPress Stopped workingAh, glad to see you figured things out.
The link would be: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-profile-privacy/
Yeah, we know. @jeffsayre‘s been working on a plugin to address this critical hole in BP. During the developer chat today Jeff guestimated that after 1.2.6 makes it out the door the BP Privacy will make it’s appearance about a week later.
So in short, there’s no fast fix. Personally I’d recommend either warning people to use the site at their own risk or to take it offline. I know what it’s like, my community has been stalled for the last few months waiting for a Privacy plugin before we go on a recruiting push.
In reply to: Can somebody test this share button in IE?Yup, it seems to be working fine too.
In reply to: Can somebody test this share button in IE?Hey man, I just tested it in IE 8 on Windows 7 and it worked without a hitch. If this is a plugin you’re developing I’d love to get a copy of it.

Probably in index.php if your Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading option is set to “Your Latest Posts”. Now keep in mind that if you add in the activity stream loop that it’ll either display above all of your blog posts or below them. Either way it’ll be really annoying.
So personally I would recommend creating a brand new page template called “Activity” that has the activity loop inside it instead of the normal post loop and then creating an empty page with the new “Activity” page template. Then back inside Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading set “Front Page” to whatever you titled your new page that uses the “Activity” page template that you created.
In reply to: More Core Committers?Ok, cool. I’m satisfied for now I suppose… just one of those things that had been stewing around in my mind for a while and wondering if I was the only one thinking it.
In reply to: Release for 1.2.6?@intimez You can take a gander here at what needs to be done: https://trac.buddypress.org/query?status=assigned&status=new&status=accepted&status=reopened&group=status&milestone=1.2.6
In reply to: More Core Committers?Speaking of… we’re getting off-track from the thread title here.
I agree with @djpaul that it’s great that BuddyPress is getting more attention at WordCamps and such. In fact the proposed “BuddyCamp” has really caught my eye (I might even go to that).
Exactly what is the risk of promoting a couple of the guys here (@hnla, @jeffsayre, @boonebgorges, @djpaul, and @r-a-y) to core committers? I mean, besides the risk of them committing bad code? I mean, I’ll accept what yall decide in the end and be happy with that, but I just want to know the reasoning behind it.
In reply to: More Core Committers?@hnla It’s good to hear that yall have at least been discussing this then. Or at least it’s reassuring that I’m not totally off the wall here.
@djpaul, Yeah, I would agree that communication has improved.
But still, I fail to see why it would hurt to add a couple of core committers. Committers are supposed to be committed. Currently we only have 1 committed committer. Exactly why would it be a bad idea?
I’m not trying to cause dissension here, I’m just trying to point out what may be a relatively risk-free enhancement to the community.
In reply to: *updated* BuddyPress Groupblog – update the plug-in:bump:
In reply to: Time on my site is off by 5 hours.@peterverkooijen I think a patch has already been submitted in Trac and the next version of BP (hopefully next week?) will fix it.
In reply to: Kick (but not ban) a user from a a group?Awesome. It’s one of those things that’s so obvious but that we just overlooked. Must be because everyone who uses BP is soooo nice that no one ever has conflict.
In reply to: Adding pagination links to bottom of Group Directory@finni3 I think there’s a Trac ticket related to this: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2472
Whoops. I fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

I would first try checking with the plugin author: @dfa3272008
You could also try contacting him via his forum: http://getpaidfrom.us/groups/buddypress-ajax-chat-support/forum/
In reply to: May seem redundant but can someone help me..That’s actually an old theme. It’s the default theme from the 1.1 branch of BP code. Straight out of the box it doesn’t exactly match all of the features of the BP 1.2 branch. That’s why the current BP default theme was created. But I imagine if you Google around you might be able to find someone who ported it over to 1.2.
You might check in the BuddyPress Hosting group: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-hosting/forum/
Our site uses RackSpaceCloud.

In reply to: How do you make @Mention on blog post commentsIf I remember correctly @mention does appear for blog comments, just not on blog posts. I agree, that functionality would be nice and makes sense since it works for all other aspects of a BP-enabled site. There’s a trac ticket for this: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2380
In reply to: Manual UpgradeDefinitely do what @hnla suggested and deactivate all of your BuddyPress related plugins 1st before upgrading.
In reply to: bp-album pluginTry posting your problem in their forum:
In reply to: Adding menu items to the admin bar@pcwriter I’m looking forward to your plugin.
In reply to: Can’t change text colorsThe more that I look at this the more I’m convinced that this must be a bug with the #hashtag plugin. The CSS color info (e.g. #ff0156) is being turned into a link before the can get into action. Just so you know, I added the following lines of into bp-custom.php around the same time that I activated the plugin.
// BELOW ADDED BY PAUL HASTINGS (7/23/2010)
// ADDS #HASHTAGS FUNCTIONALITY TO BLOG POSTS AND COMMENTS
add_filter( 'bp_blogs_activity_new_post_content', 'bp_activity_hashtags_filter' );
add_filter( 'bp_blogs_activity_new_comment_content', 'bp_activity_hashtags_filter' );
add_filter( 'get_comment_text' , 'bp_activity_hashtags_filter' );
add_filter( 'the_content', 'bp_activity_hashtags_filter' );
Any thoughts?
