Make sure “Groups” is enabled under “Buddypress” > “Component Setup”.
In reply to: Redirect After RegistrationIn reply to: BuddyPress SpamThe code from this post is the correct one:

And yes, it works just fine on my site; no bots are getting through
But lately I’ve been getting slammed by human sploggers. That’s a tougher nut to crack. In reply to: BuddyPress SpamSee this previous post in this same thread:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-spam/?topic_page=3&num=15#post-69499Just remember that if you edit core bp files/templates, you will lose your changes (and will have to redo them) whenever you update Buddypress. If you really need a header image of a different size, it is preferable to disable custom header support in wp-config, upload your image, and hardcode the URL in a child-theme style.css.
In reply to: Manually add a memberIn your WordPress backend, scroll down to “Users” and click “Add New”.
Users can then fill in their profiles. In reply to: New theme – now availableThe colors for the basic theme are intentionally bland or harsh to encourage customization, and the shadow effects can easily be removed.
And thanks! I will keep at it.

Just got back from a week with my Dad. Good news is: BuddyLite for BP1.2.5 is almost ready for release

The CSS has been cleaned up and simplified to make it as easy as can be to create custom styles for this theme (just make a few mods to each of 6 on-screen elements and, BAM!, you’ve got your own unique style).
The 20-page illustrated users manual is finished; a comprehensive, easy-to-follow, how-to-customize-this guide for newbies.
I decided to include the widgetized footer panel in the freebie also, ‘cuz it just fits so well with the homepage.I’ll be updating the theme for BP1.2.6 this coming weekend and, if all goes well, the 2 versions can be released together.
Then… work begins on the Premium version.
I’ve posted a few more screenshots to my little blog of what’s to come (to keep everyone’s mouths watering, I hope)

In reply to: Removing Navigation BarIt seems like your header.php is referencing post_title in the title tag.
Make a backup copy of that file, then open it and paste the following between the opening and closing `
` tags: “
Should work…

In reply to: New theme – now availableThank you for that!
In reply to: New theme – now availableThanks! I’ve almost finished the illustrated theme manual to help newbies (like us!) to get started on customizing the basic theme. Then I still need to update the code for BP1.2.6
The whole impetus behind the development of this theme was to provide as simple a framework as possible while offering several options and as much easy customization as possible for non-techies. All that while keeping the pricetag low (premium = $20), yet still offset the time invested for development and support.
However, along with the unexpected code updates and my father’s declining health (I’m taking a week off to spend some time with him) comes an unfortunate delay: the freebie will be available by the end of the 2nd week of November, while the premium should follow a few weeks after that.
I apologize in advance for the delay everyone, but please take consolation in that the premium will include a few surprises.
Ooh… anticipation is a fun thing!
In reply to: searching users by locationQuick and easy solution is to install Custom Profile Filters for BuddyPress plugin, and create a profile field called “Zip Code”.
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/custom-profile-filters-for-buddypress/In reply to: Widgets on main home page.Yes, you can put widgets on a page. If you create a page template with widget areas in it, you can assign that template to any page you create in WordPress. Then put your widgets on that page under “Appearance” > “Widgets”.
In reply to: Widgets on main home page.I’m currently working on a theme package with widgetized front page;

Yup, I’m seeing this on the “Recently Updated” page:

A great many changes have been made to the default theme in BP1.2.6:
https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset?old_path=/tags/1.2.5.2/bp-themes/bp-default&new_path=/tags/1.2.6/bp-themes/bp-default/This brought up a question, and an answer I was hoping to avoid:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/what-necessary-changes-should-be-made-to-bp-themes-for-bp-1-2-6/#post-76879To sum up, as the BP1.2.5-based theme I’ve been working on is pretty much complete, we’ll have 2 versions of the freebie release by the end of this month: the 1.2.6-compatible version will be downloadable from the repo, while the 1.2.5-compatible version will still be available from my site.
I’ll post links to both when the time is right.
I’m also putting together a nicely illustrated manual with all kinds of examples to help get you started on customizing the theme.Have you seen this thread? It looks like there may be a solution to your problem near the end:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-1-2-6-adds-extra-padding-top/Hmmm… OK, so here’s what I’ll do: as I’ve created this, my first, theme based on 1.2.5, I’ll make it available for die-hard 1.2.5 users on my site. But I’ll update the theme to 1.2.6 before shipping it off to the theme repo with a heads-up that a 1.2.5 version is available for download at http://…
However, I think the advice given by @karmatosed is sound, so I’ll ensure future themes are in sync with latest version of BP.
Thanks guys!

I’m putting together my first soon-to-be-released theme package for BP (yay, I’m popping my cherry again!
) and have a n00b question.Once I’ve updated all required files in my theme to 1.2.6 (using the aforementioned “calm methodical copy and pasting session”), will users who are still running 1.2.5 be able to use the theme? In other words, will the new 1.2.6 tags, functions, etc be recognized by 1.2.5?
