That’s Giovanni’s plugin. See his post above

I honestly can’t say if it’s better or not ‘cuz I’m a php newbie. Someone more knowledgeable than I would have to answer that question.
What I can say though is that it works just fine.
Sorry I can’t be of more help than that…
This is actually an idea I’d like to play with too for fun.
But how would one go about adding similar icons to WPMU page slugs?
Keep on keepin’ on r-a-y!
Go to My Account > Profile > Change Avatar
Registering for a Gravatar just simplifies things. On any site where you use the same email you use for the Gravatar, that image can be fetched automatically so you don’t have to bother uploading one for every new site you register on.
DJPaul is currently updating his Achievements plugin which wil allow you to do this. You can see his comments here: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/buddypress-points
Hope this helps!
I just installed and activated v1.4.4 but, when I get to the Group Blog settings page to activate the group blog, there are no text fields to enter the name & url. The field labels are there, but no way to enter any info. Obviously, no blog can be created. However, clicking “Save Changes” triggers a “Group details were successfully updated” message.
Any ideas?
@Dewenaus
Just thought of something for your next update (hint…). To keep things consistent in BP directories, rather than displaying group tags at the top, would it be possible to list them below the login in the sidebar like the forum topic tags? Just an idea for user-friendliness.
Next idea… blog tags? Hmm…
@Mike Great news from Erwin! Event postings with user interaction are a must for a community to thrive. I’ve added an events section to my classifieds categories (AWPCP plugin – really cool by the way), but that doesn’t integrate at all with BP. It does however allow for recurring events (via re-posting of an ad) as expired ads can be disabled and re-enabled rather than deleted.
@Mariusooms Happy to hear that you’re back to developing, and I hope your move and renovations went well! I’m looking forward to the bp-groupblogs update as well. I’ve tried Group Wiki Extension as a replacement but I’ve encountered a few difficulties with wiki creation, and the media upload/insert interface is confusing for test users.
As for bp-gallery, Brajesh has been dealing with health problems lately, so we’ll have to be patient and wish him well.
My site is going into pre-launch tomorrow… to drum up some members! So, I can honestly tell those daring few that they have a lot of goodies to look forward to!
Now, if we could only hear from Jeff about his privacy component…
Yay too!
Just to close this thread… upgrading to 1.2.1 solved the problem. Thanks.
Thanks for pointing to the ticket. I had only edited line 3 in create.php. Now they’re both done right!
Good catch, that worked! File edited.
Try this wherever you want the username to appear:
<?php bp_loggedin_user_username() ?>Should work
I don’t know if this is also a consequence of the group tags, but my blog directory also shows all blogs as being active 11 hours 58 minutes ago. This is false as only one has been recently active. Any thoughts?
Umm… doh!
I kinda thunk it would something that obvious, but it didn’t dawn on me.
Thanks, I’ll take a nap now.
Slight problem here: when on the blog creation page (Create a Blog from Blog Directory), group tags appear at the top of the page content. Oops!
Any way to remove / hide this?
I’m running WPMU2.9.1 and BP1.2.1 with default theme.
Oh looky dat! There’s tomorrow’s project.
Thanks!
Well that’s odd :~ you’re right, it works fine at testbp.org. Looking at the source for each page, it’s easy to see what’s missing:
<div id="item-header">.I’ve been rummaging through theBP1.2 files to see if I can figure out what’s missing where but can’t find it.
Any suggestions as to where and what to look for?
To log into your WP dashboard, even if you have no links to it in your theme, simply enter this in your browser’s address bar:
http://stecemu.weinandy.net/wp-adminWorks every time… hope it helps!
Installed in a snap and it works perfectly.. well, almost. I found only one, very minor bug.
After creating 6 links (5 from YouTube and 1 ppt file on my server), I created a link to an mp3 file on my server, opened the link in a new window using Quicktime, closed that window and went to view the links in my profile.
I could find only the mp3 regardless of the filter used. While the Links tab in my profile showed (7), the counter below the My Links title showed “Viewing 1 to 1 (of 1 link)”.
In order to see all links in my profile after linking the mp3, it was necessary to go back to the Links Directory and select one from there. Then all 7 were visible.
Like I say, it’s minor as I don’t think many people (if any!) are going to link to individual mp3s hosted on external sites. (But I wanted to test it anyway.)
Wow! You work fast… congrats!
@Dfa327 and everyone else too,
Just thought I’d chime in here with some comments on buddypress-ajax-chat. I purchased the premium version a while back and had Dave install it on my original BP1.1.3 site and it worked flawlessly across the whole network.
I’ve now installed BP1.2 and only had to make a slight modification so the main chat would work. There’s no plugin-template in BP1.2. So simply copy-paste the one from BP1.1.3, add in the content & padder divs, add in the call for the sidebar and upload that file to your theme. It works beautifully.
There’s only one feature that I haven’t managed to get working yet: invite Username. “Username” is not recognized. I take this as an opportunity to dive in and learn a bit about how this stuff works. If I can debug it myself… hooray for me!
By the way, the shoutbox works just fine across all blogs of the network in BP1.2, although I haven’t had the opportunity to test it with multiple members ‘cuz I don’t have any yet
If it offers any comfort, the days of radical template changes in every version are over.
As a member of the php-challenged minority, I thank you!
Here’s something else that might interest a few: I installed WPMU Super Captcha over the weekend (running WPMU2.9.1 & BP1.2rc). Since then, there have been no bot signups at all, and the plugin has blocked exactly 50 attempts. Plus, it logs each attempt that it blocks so I can keep track.
I’ve also added a comment on the registration form directed towards human signer-uppers with a support email address just in case. None of the 50 blocked attempts have used it, so…
Bots had managed to get around other plugins I’ve tried before, but not this one.
