The post below should help for creating your Community tab. David’s code worked flawlessly for my site; you can see the result here: http://rSpace.org
Have you tried oEmbed for BuddyPress?
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/oembed-for-buddypress/Hot diggety… it works flawlessly! I’ve been trying to do this for a while.
Now, it’s just a question of fiddling with the css to get it to fit and look dandy. Thanks!
In reply to: Child Theme Question from Super NoobHey r-a-y, you beat me to it by 11 secs!
In reply to: Child Theme Question from Super NoobTry Arachnophilia from http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/
You can edit pretty much anything with it.As for a child theme, here’s one way of thinking about it: the style.css file IS your child theme. Well, the skeleton anyway; the rest is muscle.
Like r-a-y says, just create the style.css file as per the instructions in the codex: https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
You’ll need to enable the theme in Site Admin > Themes before you can activate it in Appearance > Themes though.Have fun!
In reply to: How to post code on bp.org@Paul

In reply to: Members onlyTry this:
http://www.primothemes.com/post/s2member-membership-plugin-with-paypal/
s2member allows for both free and paid levels (up to 4), and you can get really creative with what you want to restrict; from simple URIs to custom conditionals, and all the way to a whole bunch of hooks & filters to play with. Oh,and it works just fine with BP. Just be sure to read the documentation… there’s a lot!
In reply to: Looking for good photo galleryDon’t worry, there’s no time bomb in bp-gallery

3 month access refers to the time you have access to the BuddyDev website. You can install and KEEP anything you download from the site during that time. Brajesh is NOT selling his plugins, themes or brilliant coding help for a limited time, he’s simply offering premium download privileges and support to paid members of his website.

The help & support that I and many others get from Brajesh on a daily basis is well worth the investment!
In reply to: Protect pages – make them visible to members onlyIn reply to: Can you customize the Activity stream page?Great site! I’m glad the template’s working for you. I would however recommend a slight mod to the css of http://citizensofinfluence.com/forums/
The “Unsubscribe” buttons overlap into the right sidebar. To correct, add this to your theme’s custom.css file:
table.forum td.td-poster, table.forum td.td-group {
min-width:100px;
}You’ll find the original in bp-default (default.css) on line 940 where the column width is set to a minimum of 130px.
In reply to: Can you customize the Activity stream page?Try Modemlooper’s widgetized theme as a child theme of bp-default. It might be just what you’re looking for.
In reply to: Badge MakerV1.3 works just fine… thanks!
Another suggestion: allow site admins to define a default width and height, and allow users to adjust if needed.
As it is now, badge dimensions are defined by those of the uploaded logo (width if vertical layout, height if horizontal layout).
Oh, and please do allow site admins/users to show or hide the field labels. As Greg says, they aren’t really needed.
In reply to: create subnav not working with child themeJust tested v1.2 with BuddyPress Widget Theme (and my child theme) and get the same problem: redirect to home page whenever i click on a “Badge” link in profile or adminbar.
In reply to: Footer content appears in sidebarAh well. My consolation is in that it simply proves I’m human after all…
In reply to: Footer content appears in sidebarWell now, I’d really like to be able to show you how red in the face I am right now.
After all this futzing around, I finally homed in on the source of the problem. Turns out, I made a newbie blunder and forgot to close a div tag in the last widget included in my sidebar.
Umm… duh…
Problem solved.
In reply to: Footer content appears in sidebarOK. I’m at a loss.
Anybody know why the contents of footer.php would show up in the sidebar?
In reply to: Footer content appears in sidebarAHA!!
Modemlooper’s widget theme works! Let me see if I can figure out why…
In reply to: Footer content appears in sidebarTrying different themes again. Maybe I’ll find something…
In reply to: Footer content appears in sidebarHi Mercime!
Nope… refreshed, reuploaded footer.php and still get it. Here’s a screenshot: http://i44.tinypic.com/20f2gy1.png
PS – deleted bp-events and still get the weird sidebar.
In reply to: How to move sidebar to leftRats! Now my footer content shows up at the bottom of the sidebar content.
Back to the drawing board…
In reply to: How to move sidebar to leftHurrah!
After finally getting around to installing the Firebug for Firefox addon, I was able to fiddle to my heart’s content with the css and get the sidebar off to the left, just the way I wanted it!
Firebug: highly recommended to anyone who wants to change stuff around, but who ain’t all that fluent in the lingo. That would be me
Great start! Just a couple of hiccups:
1 – I was expecting an “Events” tab to show up in the main nav, but it’s not there.
2 – I set the date for an all-day event at June 1st, but the date shown on the event single is May 31st (oops!)
3 – Can’t create a forum topic (yes, it’s enabled in backend). My 2 attempts DO however show up in the event “wire” and the main activity stream, but with no topic specified.
4 – I suggest adding an element to the activity stream dropdown filter: “New Events”, “Event Updates” or something.
Thanks for putting in the effort to update this!
