check out this three part series here too:

In reply to: How to create a landing page on BP?I use this plugin on my WordPress site, perhaps it will work with BP too? It does work with WP 3.01 despite it being almost two years old.
In reply to: Having Disqus for comments in a BuddyPress forumWhy not Ping the disqus folks? They might be interested in developing this integration themselves…. it makes sense.
In reply to: http 500 internal server errorIf you simply downloaded and installed buddypress via admin screen… to get back to your “regular” site…you’ll need to go in to your site via FTP (or server backend like cpanel) and delete the entire “buddypress” plugin. This would be in the xxx/wp-content/plugins/BUDDYPRESS
Select the buddypress folder and delete it. The plugin will force WP to disengage it and your site should be back where you were before you started this fun…
In reply to: WP-minify and new version of Buddypress@hotforwords this is one of the biggest hangups with cdn and bp… I am currently excluding the avatar folders…which, ironically, would be one of the best uses of a cdn…especially with bp… If there was a way to lock an avatar update for say 24 hours after a change was made (make the change delayed for x time)… You might be able to then use the auto-load feature of total cache to ensure that pictures were on the cdn prior to the chage….
In reply to: field autocomplete for messages?Please let me know what you come up with!
In reply to: field autocomplete for messages?There was this awesome plugin at bp-dev called autosuggest…but looks as though development has stopped and the dev. is awol. I tried it last week with BP 1.2.5.2 and WP3.0.1 and it failed. There are posts from the DEV here on BP and the plugin, but they are over a year old.

I am using WP auto-suggest plug-in and it is working, but not as cool as above. Would love to see someone take the reigns on that plugin again…
This is one of those crazy things because of the merger of bbpress with buddypress… you can turn off the ability to reply to these forum posts in the buddypress sidebar of the dashboard under “general settings” Turn off “Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?”. This will keep your forums focused, but will encourage responses by showing the post in the activity stream… it’s the best solution we “got”… so far anyway.
In reply to: BuddyPress.org’s Unified Search – How can I get it?@brajesh Is there anyway to get the unified search to also search the Activity Stream? Seems like a lot of people are asking and nobody has a clear cut way to do it yet. My site now has hundreds of updates with some pretty good threads that we can’t search via the site.
Here is a thread with some code and thoughts about this here:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/requests-feedback/forum/topic/search-activity/In reply to: Displaying forum topic tags@nuprn1 This is a total hack job, but it is working for me. This goes with all of my above posts. It’s my first time using pastebin, but it looked like the easiest way to show the four things I did…
In reply to: Displaying forum topic tagsOk, I’ve gathered a number of sources from around the Web to come up with something that is ok… I’ll post it below. It includes a function that I gathered from bbpress.com called bb_row_tags (something hat maybe should be added to buddypress future?) and some of Rich’s code above and really is hack but it seems to almost get what I’m trying to accomplish.
In reply to: Displaying forum topic tagsI was speaking to where you are using the topic tags on your site…
<?php
$ttags = bb_get_topic_tags( bp_get_the_topic_id() );
if ( $ttags ) : ?><?php printf(__(‘No tags yet.’), bp_get_forum_directory_permalink() . ‘/#tags’ ); ?>
I wanted to see how this layed out after it was styled etc.
In reply to: Displaying forum topic tags@nuprn1 Can you post a link as to where you are using the above code that you listed so I can see how you are using it? Thanks.
In reply to: Displaying forum topic tagsHey BP gurus… any help or thoughts on this? Thanks.
In reply to: Displaying forum topic tagsLooking at this codex page: https://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/wp_tag_cloud Is there an easy way to use the taxonomy parameter with this? Don’t know.
In reply to: Displaying forum topic tagsOk… so I’m looking at this, I guess what I really want to do is show a Tag Cloud of the Forum Topics in the GROUP. So the Group would show the tags of all the forum topics entered in that Group. Because there are so many forums that “cross” each other within a group, this makes good sense. A Tag Cloud of the tags listed in the forums of a Group… Any ideas? Anyone already doing this and can share? Thanks!
There is a new plugin called BP Plugin called humanity, check it. I also require the TOS to be checked (also a plugin). We’ve had little to no Spammers so far… knock on wood.
In reply to: Displaying forum topic tagsOk, I can get @nuprn1 s to work (had to change the quotes back to normal in the cut& paste). How can I make this a tag cloud? Is there a plugin for this… It is simply long-listing them….
In reply to: Displaying forum topic tagsdirecly under the:
-?php do_action( ‘bp_before_group_forum_topic’ ) ?-
-?php if ( bp_has_forum_topic_posts() ) : ?-In reply to: Displaying forum topic tags@boonebgorges @nuprn1 I tried both of these snippets in a new forum with TAGS i added and neither of them are showing the topic tags…
I posted this in the topic.php direclty under theitems… Any idea as to why these won’t show up? BP 1.2.5.2 WP 3.0.1
@warut Any progress on this? Thanks.
In reply to: Search ActivityI moved on to the unified search again.. and now am using that.
In reply to: Search ActivityNo, I did not. But, I didn’t spend too much time on it… I was on to other things…
@warut. Fantastic… would love to implement your plugin on our site.
In reply to: New Sliding AJAX Login Panel Plugin for BuddyPressSarah, this is a fabulous plugin and it look so very nice. I look forward to the next update of this. Wonder why this isn’t in the Buddypress extend section? You will get better feedback and more people will try it if it is in there….
