I’m not sure. Sounds like it would benefit the overall BP community (thought it may be viewed as something for a plugin). You could create a ticket to suggest it to the developers: https://trac.buddypress.org/
Jehy suggested the plugin Register Users Only 2. It has worked well in my install. Hope this helps.

@Jehy et. al. RUO2 works very well on my install. Have others had the same luck?

Thank you.
Thank you Jehy. RUO2 works great. Everything but the registration page is disallowed for guests.
Great question. Jeff Sayre had the privacy plugin of 1.1.x but won’t release a version for 1.2 just yet.

I’m confident, when released, it will provide some much needed privacy to BP.
I’ve heard that the following plugins may help bring some privacy to BP, but I haven’t heard which one users find the most effective or are compatible with BP 1.2:

Good question. If there’s a way to omit that from feeds, I’d try it out too.
Any guestimates on when when 1.3 will come out? 1.2.1 is on its way soon.
Privacy is an emerging trend in Buddypress. Jeff Sayre creates the best known Buddypress plugin but hasn’t released yet: http://jeffsayre.com/2009/12/05/buddypress-privacy-component-released/comment-page-1/#comment-491 He suggests you look at the roadmap or follow him on Twitter to follow updates.
Works perfectly DJPaul! Thank you! Keep up the great work.
Alright. Should be fun to try out when he’s ready to release it. Thanks.
MrMaz, could you remind us where to find the latest download link? Thank you.
The admin part of the site appear to work fine. When I select which person or group to add or the welcome message it says settings updated. It seems like an error with the sending of the email… or automatically adding the friend or group?
Deactivated, uninstalled, reinstalled, activated and the admin part works… but when new users join, nothing happens. I’m not sure how to make the plugin work. Thanks.
@DJPaul, I customized the item under Settings, saved it, but users don’t get the applied welcome features when they join. It’s under a .com/blog1 setup. Nothing was sent to the user’s email address, and not automatic notifications showed up when the user logged in the first time (like previous versions).
I hope I can get it to work. It’s one of my favorite plugins.
@peter-anselmo, a straightforward /uploadfolder/groupname/files (or something to that effect) is needed for organization of files and for ease of use. I’m extremely impressed with the plugin and find it remarkably effective for our needs.
A BP feature or plugin that only lets you use legal symbols when creating a username would be helpful.
Correct. The member directory listing at the outset may be misleading. When I changed the “Order By” to Alphabetical or Newest Registered, I was able to see the new members listed and search for them.
Deleted 1.2rc3, dropped fresh 1.2final into plugins folder, activated plugin and there is still a phantom member. Issue still occurs.

How come one is accounted for but not listed? This is very unusual.
I’m not sure when 1.2 final will be out. The revisions of the release candidates moved by quickly, so one can hope it would be soon?
If you’d like a BP 1.2.rc3+WPMU tester, drop a message.
Also is https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-links/download/ the place to look to if there are revised betas coming out (say 0.4-beta for example)? Keep up the great work!
@nzde, I have the same error even though files upload fine.
I’m running the latest BP 1.2rc3 and downloaded the 0.3-beta from
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-links/download/
When I click the Links tab to go to my.com/links, it says “Page Not Found”
I’m not sure why this is happening with the latest of each.
Resolved. Fresh Buddypress install resolves this issue and won’t interrupt site operations.
@MrMaz, it worked on my regular wordpress site, but not my wpmu one for some reason. It says the page was not found. Have other wpmu users had difficulties with the 0.3-beta on their sites?
Is there a way to make the Delete link more visible? It took a bit of looking around to find it.
Also, if I’m using the 0.3-bleeding, and future versions for BP 1.2 come out, can I simply overwrite the buddypress-links folder? I think it might be yes but I wanted to ask.
Thank you.
Sweet! Thank you geoffm33.
Very effective! Thank you.
