Thanks @r-a-y. It could be done without a plugin by uploading the desired theme files into wp-content/themes/default folder to replace the files there. Then change the Theme Name of file of new default theme’s style.css to
Theme Name: WordPress Default
Just keep a copy of the preferred theme in your computer so that whenever you upgrade your […] -

@r-a-y @peterverkooijen Just to clarify: I’m not really for the actual inclusion of bbPress inside of BuddyPress. What I want is the ability to replicate forum-like functionality within the boundaries of what WordPress+BuddyPress can be extended to. I believe social networks can be the next generation of collaborative forums. That is the type of…[Read more]

@peterverkooijen – If we’re talking semantics, you referred to me saying this: “I definitely don’t believe is a “parasite” like you do.” (which I did write) And then, you wrote this: @r-a-y, this sounds pretty parasitic to me: “… it should be possible (and rather effortless at that) to mold BuddyPress into a more forum-like environment …” (which […]

@r-a-y, I didn’t say you did. I compared bbPress to a parasite as in a foreign organism that weakens the host (“… mold BuddyPress into a more forum-like environment …”). First step to heal Buddypress is to remove the parasite. Edit: @r-a-y (“This inferred that I believed bbPress was a parasite”) No it doesn’t. WTF?! I’m not […]

@r-a-y if you want to work together on an activity stream only based forum – i would be more than happy to join in. An idea that has been pestering me for a while now. IMHO – I really see no need for bbPress within BP – I’m not arguing against why it is there now […]

bbPress is a parasite that is killing Buddypress from within. Buddypress should have been a next-generation social network, instead it is becoming a messy backward forum/social network hybrid. @r-a-y (“but not his tone!”), sugarcoating is what got Buddypress to this point. Noone (at Automattic) is making any hard choices. BP tries to be all things to […]

I tried the loop… this is AWESOME!! @boonebgorges: I agree with @r-a-y ’s advice — of course, without knowing the software structure of BP, it’s harder to find specific functions. Still… understanding the underlying concept of the “global” loop has freed my thought-processes. I had read the documentation on the Loop but didn’t grasp that t…[Read more]

BOW posted on the forum topic oEmbed for BuddyPress plugin – out now! in the group Third Party Components & Plugins: 14 years, 7 months ago
@r-a-y Hi Matey
We are having an issue with both plugins (activity and comments). When you add text before or after the link to be embedded (e.g. a description or comment) it only displays the embedded item and not the text before or after.
Any ideas?
Cheers!

@r-a-y – Thanks for the reply! I did think of using the Favorite button for this, however I can’t figure out how to have activity postings that people have favorited show up in the “activity stream”, it only shows up in the stream with a favorite filter. Is there any way around that so as to […]

There should be an action… look in the default theme’s members/single/profile directory… there should be some do_actions there.
-
Found one. But how to I control where is shows up. See here
-
The action is where your content will show up… if you can’t find a better do_action, then you could possibly use CSS to position your content.
-
I thought that may be the case. Thanks ray 🙂

@r-a-y I need a little bit of help with this. My site is officialmancard.com and I’ve got wordpress running in a folder (officialmancard.com/omc/). Same issue as everyone else, all of my BP related links (My Profile, activity stream, etc) all have the /omc/ folder. I’ve put your code into a bp-custom.php as well as my child […]
