That’s a weird one, Reboot Now!
The thing is for the “login_name”, are you even allowed to signup with capital letters?
In reply to: Removing avatar upload at signupHi fangonk,
If you scrolled a little bit down, you would have seen this thread!
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/remove-image-upload-option-from-signup-only
It’s a simple fix that uses CSS to hide the avatar fields on the registration page.
In reply to: Dashboard ?Hey mariusooms,
I checked out the skeleton component plugin before, but like you said, it’s much more than just page templates, which for my needs, was a little overkill!
I’ll probably never have to build a component, but never say never!
In reply to: Dashboard ?Ahh… well I actually created my version of the dashboard using a WordPress page (specificaly a WordPress page template), and not BP’s components, which is what Andy is doing.
To tell you the truth, I haven’t studied how new, component slugs work, so I just stuck to my tried-and-true WP skills

What I did was enter the BP loops in my WP page template, but before I entered the BP loops, I do a conditional so only logged in users can view the dashboard content.
Hope the logic makes sense.
Need more info, Reboot Now.
Can the user log into WordPress? But not into bbPress?
Okay, here’s another check:
Double-check that your uploaded bbPress files are actually the same as the files from the distribution package! This one killed me a couple of days ago.
Have you used the bbPress Integration plugin?
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-integration/
And copied the config lines verbatim?
You probably have just double-checking!
In reply to: Install/run BuddyPress in SubdirectoryThat is what I would do.
But keep in mind, you’d also have to make the same changes to your BP member theme.
If you’re using the default BP member theme, that would be located here:
/wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember/header.php
In reply to: Install/run BuddyPress in SubdirectoryI’m guessing from that statement that you don’t.
You’d probably want to make some changes in your theme’s header.php.
If you’re using the BuddyPress home theme, that file can be found here:
/wp-content/themes/bphome/header.php
The part you want to look for is:
<ul id="nav">John could probably help you better.
In reply to: Install/run BuddyPress in SubdirectoryNot sure why the Members link is lighting up… that should only light up when you go to domain.tld/members/.
I’m guessing you’re using the BuddyPress home theme.
Do you have a customized BP_MEMBERS_SLUG, per chance?
In reply to: Install/run BuddyPress in SubdirectoryGoto your blog settings and assign the front page to be the page you made for home, and make the index/blog page the one you made for your blog.
In your WPMU admin area, go to “Settings > Reading”.
Select “A static page”
Then for the “Front page” that you created, select “Home”.
For your “Posts page” that you created, select “Blog”.
In reply to: Block/Prevent new users from registeringAhh okay gotcha, ipstenu! I thought you were using some elaborate .htaccess RewriteRules!

Might want to use “Redirect 301” on those redirects!
Thanks!
In reply to: Updated to 2.8.1 and now have a fatal errorWPMU 2.8.2 is out!
In reply to: Block/Prevent new users from registeringWhat are you using in your bbPress .htaccess, ipstenu?
I wouldn’t mind checking that out as well!
In reply to: Remove Image Upload Option from SIGNUP only.Actually that CSS code should go in your bphome theme’s CSS file.
Or whatever you are using for your WordPress home theme.
Let’s say you’re using the “bphome” theme.
The CSS snippet should go at the very end of:
/wp-content/themes/bphome/style.css
In reply to: custom button in buddy-barHere’s a little something to try.
Create a “bp-custom.php” file in your /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Put in the following code:
function my_new_buddybar_button(){
echo '<li class="no-arrow"><a href=""YOUR LINK"><img src="YOUR BUTTON" alt="" /></a></li>';
}
add_action('bp_adminbar_menus', 'my_new_buddybar_button', 101);Untested, but should work…
Change “101” to where your button should be.
eg. “1” would move it to the beginning (right after the BP logo)
In reply to: Remove Image Upload Option from SIGNUP only.Put this in your CSS file:
#avatar-form-fields {display:none;}This will hide the avatar field from view on the registration page.
In reply to: ehm.. notification not going anywhere 😛Due to the dynamic nature of social networks, you should be very careful with caching plugins!
Try disabling WP Super Cache and see if that stops the problem.
In reply to: Block/Prevent new users from registeringSimon’s plugin works great! Thanks for the link ipstenu!
In reply to: 4 RequestPoint 1 – No one has tackled this yet.
Point 3 – http://manojkumar.org/bppicture-album-plugin-for-buddypress/
As DJPaul has said, this is a 3rd party plugin, which isn’t an official BuddyPress component, but does a good job. An official BuddyPress album plugin is in the works.
In reply to: "My Account" Link on Admin Bar not workingNice, prompt work, John!
I find strange things like this happen if I FTP a file directly from inside a zip file, rather than unzipping it and uploading it.
That’s exactly what I did… uploaded from a .ZIP file. I’m rather lazy that way!

I was stressing out over this for a couple of days!
In reply to: "My Account" Link on Admin Bar not workingYou’ve got it, Decisionc!
That, or until this is fixed in the source.
Submit a ticket (login with the same username and password as on buddypress.org) for this to hopefully see its inclusion in the next release of BP.
In reply to: Why domain has to be SINGLE value for WPMU?There’s also Virtual Multiblog if you’re interested in multiple WP standard sites on one codebase:
http://striderweb.com/nerdaphernalia/features/virtual-multiblog/
Okay I got forums up and working and again!
This was the weirdest thing… the bbPress forums – xmlrpc.php – was somehow larger in filesize than the release version.
I overwrote the /forums/xmlrpc.php from the one in the bbPress 1.0.1 package and now group forums are working again!
Jeez louise!
Bumping this thread again.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Should I just reinstall bbPress 1.01?
