In reply to: Dashboard ?
Hi cozzie,
As Andy has stated above, the Dashboard is just a few BP loops on one page (with exception to the bbPress favorites section!).
Read up on BP loops here:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/
I actually started building my own dashboard-like page for members (kind of mirroring BP’s) and I really dig the BP loops, especially the documentation – that really helped.
Update:
-I used Burt’s XMLRPC debugger to see if it was an XMLRPC problem and it seems like it is as I’m getting the following error:
-32700 >> parse error. not well formed
Now I need to know how to solve this problem.
The thing is though when I try to make a BP group forum post, the forum shows up in bbPress, just no topic. So XMLRPC has to be working to some extent right?
Hopefully either one of the mods or someone can answer the following question:
I have a bunch of bbpress_live_cache entries in the db from when group forums were actually working.
Should I clear the bbpress_live entries in the db?
In reply to: Improving the Buddypress User Interface.Nice work!
You could probably make the menu smaller by removing the widget sidebar you have in the panel.
Good job! Glad you got it working, Mohit!
In reply to: User registration is not workingDid you make any modifications to wpmu-functions.php?
Make sure you overwrite it with one from the WPMU 2.8.1 install.
I just tested this and it works.
I’m on WPMU 2.8.1 (not trunk) and BP 1.0.3 (not trunk) and the directories show up fine for me.
If you look at /bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php, all the functions are defined.
eg. if you want to call the “My Account” menu, use bp_adminbar_account_menu()

For the register page, study how this page is built: wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bpthemes/bphome/register.php.

I haven’t tried this with 1.0.3 yet myself, but I’ll be sure to give it a spin tomorrow.Just upgraded WPMU to 2.8.1 and also upgraded BP to 1.0.3 and applied the __init / __construct fix to wpmu-functions.php (https://trac.mu.wordpress.org/changeset/1875).
And I’m up and running with the BuddyBar.
Man upgrading isn’t fun!
In reply to: HELP I CAN'T POST! – READMEThank you Sam!
Had a feeling it was something to do with the auth cookie!
In reply to: HELP I CAN'T POST! – READMEIs anyone else having cookie problems on the BP site?
I can only login to one part of the BP site at a time (main BP site vs. forums).
In reply to: Deactivating BP plugin returns blank screenMike, it’s a bug with WPMU 2.8.1.
There’s a fix in the trac:
In reply to: List of template tags and parameters?Look in all “/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/” folders for files that end in “-templatetags.php”.
Looks like there is a codex page setup:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-discussions/buddypress-template-tags/
But nothing is in there. I’ll start filling that page in when I have some time on my hands!
Just added the first function, but there’s a ton more!

Jeff, question for you… say I wanted to add a sub-page in the codex to split up the many “-templatetags.php” files.
How would I do that?
In reply to: New Groupblog PluginSome screenshots of the Groupblog plugin or some URLs that have the plugin enabled would be nice!
In reply to: Change Member ThemeDid you move the bpmember and bpskeletonmember directories from “wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes” to “wp-content/bp-themes“?
Also if you are using WPMU 2.8.1, there are bugs that are currently being ironed out by the BP dev team. So if you are using WPMU 2.8.1, you’ll have to find one of the workarounds on the forums.
Hey Mohit,
Check out “wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php”
All the function calls are there.

It worked for me when I had a similar problem that you’re experiencing, although not identical regarding the IXR class.
However I’m using WPMU 2.7.1 and not 2.8.1.
A couple of considerations here.
If you use this login panel, you’ll most likely want to disable the BuddyBar. Just something you might want to think about.
Secondly, play around with that jQuery script. When you have the script actually toggling, then the next step is to implement the BP login form.
For this, you’ll want to examine the bp_login_bar() function (found in wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-templatetags.php – line 589 and on).
You can either call this function directly or create a copy of the function and modify it for your needs.
You’ll probably also need to style it so it works the way you want it.
Hope that helps!
If you are properly integrated, your BP display name should sync up with bbPress’ post_author() function… you shouldn’t have to do anything… at least that’s the case for me.
(I’m using deep integration)
In reply to: @Mods: Remove bp_core_admin_bar_css on BackendSorry!
I misread your post!
Try this:
function remove_adminbar_css(){
remove_action('admin_menu', 'bp_core_add_admin_css');
}
add_action('init','remove_adminbar_css');Put the code in “/wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php”
Try that.
Friendly monday morning bump!
Try this in your home.php:
<?php if ( function_exists( 'bp_activity_get_list' ) ) : ?>
<?php
bp_activity_get_list(
get_the_author_ID(), // The ID of the user to get activity for.
bp_word_or_name( __( "My Activity", 'buddypress' ), __( "%s's Activity", 'buddypress' ), true, false ), // The title of the activity list.
bp_word_or_name( __( "You haven't done anything yet.", 'buddypress' ), __( "%s hasn't done anything yet.", 'buddypress' ), true, false ) // What to show when there is no activity.
);
?>
<?php endif; ?>Untested… try it and report back. This will show the activity block, just like on a BP profile page.
In reply to: Blog registration drops data fields at signup?If anyone could tell me how to remove the blog registration part from the mysite.com/register so that all the visitor can do at that point is to create a user account, I’d be thrilled!
Hi mlemberg, read this:
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/default-to-just-a-username#post-14828
Requires hacking a core file and a little bit of CSS to hide the “Create A Blog” block.
If anyone knows a better way, let us know.
In reply to: @Mods: Remove bp_core_admin_bar_css on BackendYou need to remove the bp admin css with plugins_loaded as well.
Try this:
function remove_adminbar_css(){
remove_action('wp_head', 'bp_core_admin_bar_css', 1);
}
add_action('plugins_loaded','remove_adminbar_css');In reply to: Online Members Widget max numberWidgets are not 100% compatible in WPMU 2.8.1.
The reason is WordPress widgets utilize a new API in 2.8+.
A new release for BP will come soon to address this and a couple of other issues that have popped up since 2.8+.
In reply to: Members DirectorySorry for bumping this thread! But it’s a great resource for figuring out how to get WP widgets working in a BP Member Theme!
Thanks to Burt for figuring this out!
Apologies if the bump is uncalled for.
