In reply to: Facebook Connect with Buddypress
WP-FB-AutoConnect works for me.
http://www.justin-klein.com/projects/wp-fb-autoconnectIn reply to: Auto-Suggest in Private MessagesHey hachimaki,
Your needs would need to be custom-coded. When a user creates a blog, they have the option to select its privacy. A possible solution involves checking if the blog in question is private; if so redirect to the registration page, if not, leave open to public.
I was thinking about doing something like this. Activity stream comments will create a corresponding blog comment / forum post and vice versa.
I think it’s possible, but there’s also the potential for problems to occur. For example, someone replies from the activity stream at the same time as someone replying from the blog post.
In reply to: Search Query and MySQL helpYeah, I amended my previous post after I typed it because I noticed the query would not work.
You’ll have to join the same table, then you could get the result you need.Do a search on Google on self joins for more info.
If you’re feeling antsy, the fix by John is here:
https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/3142See if that works for you.
In reply to: Search Query and MySQL helpSorry I misunderstood your question. I thought you meant you were looking to join wp_bp_xprofile_data and wp_bp_xprofile_fields.
I’m thinking you’ll have to join the same table together in order to do what you want.
In reply to: Search Query and MySQL helpI’m not a SQL guy myself, but because the data is divided in separate tables, look into constructing a select join query.
See how it’s done in /bp-xprofile/bp-xprofile-classes.phpAlso take a look at the BP Member Filter plugin or the BP Profile Search plugin.
It’s not recommend to make changes to the default theme because they will be wiped out when you upgrade BuddyPress.
Build a child theme and then try to edit it via the WP Theme Editor and see what happens.
If you continue to get the same problem after creating a child theme, reply back and let us know.
BuddyPress is not a forum script:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/faqs/#forumNot sure why your boss cannot login, as you should be able to login via:
http://www.yayteamblog.com/wp-login.php
http://www.yayteamblog.com/wp-admin/Are you using any plugins that use redirection?
Actually it is possible to bypass BP registration using the wp_insert_user() function.
It *should* be possible by overriding the /registration/register.php template file in your child theme. But all the good stuff like activating an account would be gone. However, you say you want to use WP’s registration system? Would require a BP core hack I believe.Changing the BP_ROOT_BLOG wouldn’t do a thing since BP is activated network-wide.
In reply to: Some questions about BLOG POSTS in BP. Help pleaseHi Andrea, this isn’t true. A bug was fixed a few weeks ago in bp-blogs-classes.php that wasn’t correctly pulling a user’s blogs.
@hnla – Just for sanity’s sake, I tried again. This time via “Super Admin > Blogs”. I clicked “Edit”, then added an existing user to the sub-blog that way. Works. Can you check to see your wp_bp_user_blogs table to see if it’s recording anything?
In reply to: Starting theme from BP or WP?You could try Buddymatic:
http://freebpthemes.com/themes/buddymatic/It’s a BP version of Thematic. From reading the comments on the release page, it appears Buddymatic is merging into Thematic, which is great news!

In reply to: @mention everyoneA notice doesn’t send a notification though.
It adds a message on the site.Re: the original post – a custom plugin could be made based on the @mention- code to message everyone.
In reply to: How to mark a member as a spammerMy previous post details that…
In reply to: Adding @username in the forumEdit your template and add the following:
http://pastebin.com/P3eSvqHPIn reply to: WP-minify and new version of BuddypressI noticed with database caching on in W3 Total Cache that if someone registered on a BP site, two additional accounts would be created with the same username, but their user ID for each of these new accounts would be different. So unfortunately I had to disable database caching.
Haven’t tried W3 Total Cache 0.9 to see if this is fixed.
In reply to: How to mark a member as a spammerWhat I’m saying is put the xprofile_setup_adminbar_menu() function somewhere in a member template.
http://pastebin.com/0LVSyc3gThen you’ll have access to the admin links.
For BuddyBar for admins, that would also have to be custom-coded.
In reply to: How to mark a member as a spammerInstead of re-enabling the admin bar every time, why don’t you just use this xprofile_setup_adminbar_menu() somewhere in your theme?
Make sure you wrap [ul] around the function though.Either that, or enable the BuddyBar for admins only.
In reply to: template tag for child theme javascript?Actually thekmen is right.
get_stylesheet_directory_uri() should return the URL to your child theme.
Also, re: TEMPLATEPATH – I’d use STYLESHEETPATH instead.
In reply to: Use PM component to send dataIf you’re simply looking at sending a message, then you’re right! messages_new_message() is the way to go.
If you’re looking to modify this private message over time, you can’t do it via a function because such a function doesn’t exist; you’d have to modify the content via the DB. I’m probably just reading into your use-case a little too much!
In reply to: Updates Only in Activity StreamTo remove the dropdown menu, copy over /activity/index.php to your child theme and remove the following list item:
