In reply to: Sign in / Registry button on the top barIn reply to: All blog posts RSS feed
I’d just create a custom page template and create a RSS feed from a filtered, BuddyPress activity loop that only outputs blog posts.
Here’s a guide that will help you create the custom RSS page template:
http://yoast.com/custom-rss-feeds-wordpress/Here’s the activity loop codex page:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/*Set the action to “new_blog_post”
In reply to: How to mark a member as a spammerIf you’re using WP in network mode, login to the WP dashboard, navigate to “Super Admin > Users”.
Check the users you want to mark as spam and under the dropdown menu, select “Mark as Spam” and apply the changes.I don’t see this feature when network mode isn’t enabled though (unless I’m not looking in the right place?).
In reply to: set wmode=”transparent” for oembed plugin@pisanojm @abu_eldahab – There’s a typo on the last line.
Change “my_eombed_wmode” to “my_oembed_wmode” and it should work.
*Edit – I just noticed that there’s an error in my code. Updated Pastebin snippet should work now.
In reply to: Use PM component to send data“so that user can access it anytime as per his needs”
Not sure what you’re trying to do.
Can you clarify?
In reply to: Secure MessagingYou could try the Welcome Pack plugin, which sends a customizable PM when you activate your account, in combination with Secure Invites.
Closing thread. Known bug.
In reply to: Secure MessagingAll you need is a SSL cert and then you can secure your entire WordPress install. BuddyPress should inherit the SSL settings from WordPress.
There is no bbPress admin panel when using bbPress for BuddyPress.
First of all, I should let you know that BuddyPress is not a forum script, it’s a social networking plugin. If you’re expecting a forum, then you might want to use something else like Simple:Press.
Forums in BuddyPress follows a concept called “Groups“. You need to create a group to create a discussion forum. This is similar to how Facebook’s fan pages operate. Administration settings for forums are handled by group administrators and moderators.
The second thing you need to do is login to the WordPress dashboard, navigate to “BuddyPress > Forums setup” and setup forums.
Now you can create a group and enable a discussion forum.

The BP team here needs to write a codex article for people new to BuddyPress, so thanks for reminding us.
In reply to: Some questions about BLOG POSTS in BP. Help pleaseHow are you adding the user? Are you adding the user via the Super Admin menu? or via the blog in question’s dashboard under “Users”?
I did the latter as a super admin.
In reply to: The Groups Loop – per_page optionalYou have to fool around with the “bp_dtheme_ajax_querystring” filter.
Boone provided a small tutorial on this:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-can-i-set-show-newblogposts-as-default-on-acitivity-stream/?topic_page=2&num=15#post-42623Modify the code to detect a group and change the per_page variable if you’re on a group.
In reply to: Some questions about BLOG POSTS in BP. Help pleaseYou need to have network mode enabled in WP 3.0 to view the “My Blogs” menu.
Do you have this enabled? In reply to: activity feed no longer showing commented onI haven’t had time to try and provide a patch, but I know cnorris23 is looking into it as well:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2513In reply to: Buddypress followers pluginMaybe someone should provide an alternative version for this plugin as a stop-gap until Andy is ready to resume duties with BP-related matters?
In reply to: Some questions about BLOG POSTS in BP. Help please@hnla – Just tested this and it works for me… logged in as administrator and set up an existing user as a contributor on a blog. Logged in as the other user, blog shows up under the “My Blogs” menu.
Using same test environment as you.
The thing the “My Blogs” menu doesn’t do is list the role next to the blog, is this what you mean?
In reply to: One Quick Post vs Jet QuickPressAndy did not create these plugins. There is currently a bug in the BuddyPress plugin directory that doesn’t attach some plugin authors to their respective plugin. It falls back to Andy’s avatar when the bug occurs.
You can’t remove it as an action, since bp_get_displayed_user_nav() is a template tag and not an actionable item.
If you’re using a child theme, remove the calls to bp_get_displayed_user_nav() or try hiding the menu via CSS.*Edit – Just thought of a sneaky way of doing this.
Add the following to your theme’s functions.php:

Try deactivating any BP group plugins and see if you can encounter the error again. In reply to: Feature Request: Group Activity RSS FeedThis is a rather old thread.
Group activity is now available since BP 1.2.Personal activity is available via:
http://example.com/members/admin/activity/feed/However, this shows all personal activity including activity you make in groups, etc.
In reply to: New Component – prayer pluginYou might want to check out Richard Venable’s Biblefox plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/biblefox-for-wordpress/It’s not exactly a prayer request module, but might be related to what you want.
In reply to: Issues after changing admin usernameBy default, BuddyPress uses the user_nicename column in the DB and not the user_login. Make sure your user_nicename is the same as your user_login.
Or you can add the following line to wp-config.php:
define( 'BP_ENABLE_USERNAME_COMPATIBILITY_MODE', true );This is a known bug. A proposed fix is listed in the following ticket:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2068In reply to: “Change avatar” page redirects to home page@kumo99 – This will remove the trailing slash from the change avatar link:
http://pastebin.com/EMMvm2QePlop this in your theme’s functions.php.
Cool, glad it was a simple fix!
In reply to: SignUp PHP inactiveCool, glad you got BP up and running.
As a rule of thumb, it’s usually not recommended to try and edit a plugin’s source file unless you know what you’re doing!
