Use a query_posts loop:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/query_postsI’m quite sure that a plugin exists to do such a thing.
In reply to: oEmbed for BuddyPress plugin – out now!I’ve mentioned this before. The only reason I haven’t really thought about adding xprofile support is due to the lack of a way to remove the cached data from the DB if one decides to change an xprofile field. There’s probably an intelligent way to do this, but I haven’t thought of it yet.
Locking thread. The post directly above mentions the new home for discussing the plugin.
In reply to: 404 ErrorJust checked your site.
Looks like you resolved your problem as member profile links work for me.
In reply to: new child theme function.php breaks log inI added a couple of new functions to the new functions.php, to enable activity as frontpage…
This shouldn’t be needed as this is fixed in the latest version of BP.
In reply to: Making autocomplete work for all usersWould be interesting to know what you’re planning on doing with a custom post type in a group’s homepage loop!
I’ve edited your topic title to be more specific to your post.
Your original title – “doubts about buddypress” – is not even related to what you have written.re: filtering the activity stream – unless I’m mistaken, it’s not possible to tack on multiple scopes or user ids to the activity stream loop.
re: single-level threaded stream – I’ve thought about this myself. I’ll look into this when I have some time.
In reply to: BP mark as spammers acts wierd in 1.2.2.1Locking this as the last two comments are not relevant to the OP.
@dancunningham, @suzettekussnercom –

In reply to: Blogger style bar on all blogsAlso make sure BuddyPress is activated network-wide.
In reply to: Blogger style bar on all blogsLike Andrea said, by default, the BuddyPress admin bar should show up on all your user blogs unless you disabled it or hid it.
Make sure your user blog theme’s footer.php has the following:
wp_footer();In reply to: activity feed no longer showing commented onConfirmed while trying to make a comment on a sub-blog. Thanks for the bug report, intimez.
Looking into it.*Edit – This bug only appears when comments are set to moderate. If it doesn’t require moderation, it shows up in the activity stream. Problem appears to be with bp_blogs_manage_comment(). Still looking into it.
There is no such publically available plugin.
The one used on this site was custom-coded by Andy Peatling. He might release this as a plugin in the future, but in the near short-term, don’t expect anything to be available.
If you’re a coder, the basic premises are:
1) Create a new nav item for groups called “ratings”.
2) Utilize the activity stream so users can rate the group.
3) Save the rating as group meta when a review is made.—
Re: GD Star Rating – Milan Petrovic, the author of the plugin, has stated on a few occasions for some form of support for BP. When and what type of integration is still up in the air though.
Re: ETA on BP 1.3 – Jeff has a good estimate for when BP 1.3 is coming out. There’s still quite a bit of work to be done.
Re: Theme changes in BP 1.3 – Nothing is changing for themes (as of yet).
The only main change (that I know of so far) in BP 1.3 is how BuddyPress pages are now integrated into regular WordPress pages.
I would start by disabling the plugins you’re using on the registration page.
You have at least three plugins running, a captcha, a math Q+A and a terms of use plugin. One of them could be the problem. Also techguy’s suggestion is good. Revert the changes you made to register.php so it’s using the default one.
In reply to: Activity links open in new windowCool! Even better!
Surprised that it works with BP!In reply to: how to access admin dashboard from bp default themeThere appears to be a missing edit_post_link() call in the post template (/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/single.php).
Thanks for the heads up! Creating a bug report for this.
In reply to: Activity links open in new windowUse a javascript solution.
Something like this will work:
http://www.dotnetcurry.com/ShowArticle.aspx?ID=510Make sure you change the selector so it matches the activity content container and not the entire document!
In reply to: Activation Email not being sentIf you’re on BlueHost, there have been issues with the email being sent.
I really just want a forum with categories. It seems that in the native BP settings you have to create a Group first, which then gets its own forum? Is this correct?
Yes, you have to create a group first. Think of Facebook’s fan page / group discussions page. That’s what it is modeled after (I believe!).
If you want a forum with categories, I would suggest installing a WordPress forum plugin like Simple:Press or Mingle Forum.
If you’re comfortable working with another forum script, you can try installing the standalone version of bbPress and integrating WordPress and bbPress together. I list this as another option.

Or, how do I get something similar to what BuddyPress.org has? I notice that at the bottom of the forum topic listing, it says: “You will auto join this group when you start a new topic.” How did u get that functionality?
The auto-joining is default with BuddyPress. When you’re logged in and you are on a forum post that you are not a group member of, that message will be displayed. Visit the test install of BP – http://testbp.org – for an example.
You can use Paul’s donate link for his Welcome Pack plugin:

Are you able to upload an image to the media library on dev.neoncon.com?
In reply to: some people have trouble registering…You’ll have to ask a system administrator; right now, I’m speculating that your server is running on IIS, I could be wrong!
In reply to: Missing avatars with WP3.0 & BP1.2.5Re:
Upload Failed! Error was: The uploaded file could not be moved to /scratch/VHOSTS/neoncon.com/dev/public/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/group-avatars/4.If I understand the blogs.dir structure correctly, I think I it is trying to create a new blog dir (4) for the images that should apply to the core blog (1). Am I on the right track?
The “4” signifies the group ID.

*Edit – I’m just looking at one of your uploaded files:
http://www.neoncon.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/badge-sharkbone-200f.pngIs dev.neoncon.com a separate WP install site from http://www.neocon.com?
By that, I mean, is http://www.neocon.com and dev.neocon.com based off the same WP 3.0 network install?@codeispoetry – Try upgrading to BP 1.2.5.2.
