In reply to: Missing avatars with WP3.0 & BP1.2.5
Avatars are not stored in the DB.
Doug, it looks like you upgraded from WPMU 2.9.2 to WP 3.0. Chances are you did not fully accomplish all the upgrading steps:
http://developersmind.com/2010/06/17/upgrading-wordpress-mu-2-9-2-to-wordpress-3-0/Follow everything listed there.
In reply to: how to access to bbpress admin from buddypress??@alanchrishughes – It sounds like you want to integrate a standalone version of bbPress with WordPress, I’ve already given you directions on how to do this.
Please do not hijack an old thread, post a new one to discuss your problems, or go on the bbPress forums for help.
*Edit: Here’s another guide that might be easier to follow:

When you upgraded WPMU to WP 3.0, did you correctly upgrade?
http://developersmind.com/2010/06/17/upgrading-wordpress-mu-2-9-2-to-wordpress-3-0/It also sounds like your BP install is corrupted. Here’s a guide to upgrade BP:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/upgrading-from-10x/@kumo99 – You might want to take a look at this:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/add-field-description-to-fullname-core/#post-57735Much easier and doesn’t require copying the registration page template to your child theme.
This is a known bug on buddypress.org.
We’re looking at trying to rectify this in the near future.If you want, you can keep track of the bug squashing here:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-org-ninjas/In reply to: [Newbie] WP Installation or WPMU installation?How do WP plugins work in BP?
Like any other plugin in WordPress! They’re separate entities. So let’s say you decide to use an Events Calendar plugin, that plugin will be in its own little world unless you decide to hack it to be more in rhythm with BuddyPress (display names, avatars, etc.).
In reply to: Site Members Loop & Variables@dunc – If you want a global variable, then (surprise, surprise!) use a global variable or a define.
In wp-config.php or /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php, you can either do this:
global $my_var;
$my_var = WHATEVER;or:
define( 'MY_VAR', WHATEVER );Then in your page template or anywhere else, you do this:
global $my_var;
if ( bp_has_site_members( 'type=active&max=' . $my_var ) ) :or:
if ( bp_has_site_members( 'type=active&max=' . MY_VAR ) ) :—
Hope that helps.
In reply to: Calling A different MenuRead this blog entry and try out the function mentioned in the article:
http://dustyreagan.com/global-page-navigation-accross-wordpress-mu-blogs/Props to Boone for pointing me to that blog article awhile ago.
In reply to: Unable to exclude page from navigation@arxpoetica – That’s possible via the “wp_list_pages_excludes” filter.
You’ll need to return an array of page IDs you want to exclude.
Example code:
http://pastebin.com/HUyVsWSNChange 1,2,3 to page ids you want to omit.
In reply to: How to default filter in activity streamIn reply to: How to overwrite a function?In reply to: BuddyPress to Facebook Connect Updated for 1.0Locking thread.
@queertoday – BP-FBConnect, as Jeff has stated, is an old plugin. The FB plugin that is even recommended by BP is WP-FB-AutoConnect.
Unfortunately, there are some things that are not added out of the box like FB avatars. However in the comments section of the plugin author’s page (located at the bottom), there is some code you can use to add that functionality.
In reply to: bp.org 404 error on search resultsForgot to add this to the list. Thanks guys.
In reply to: Help Getting StartedThere’s a bug in the current release, which is fixed in the development 1.2 branch.
In the interim, you can fix this by patching /buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-classes.php:
https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/3113In reply to: ALL images gone after updateYou’re missing the part about moving /wp-includes/ms-files.php to /wp-content/ms-files.php!
In reply to: ALL images gone after updateIt looks like you didn’t follow the instructions listed under “Update Rewrite Rules”:
http://developersmind.com/2010/06/17/upgrading-wordpress-mu-2-9-2-to-wordpress-3-0/In reply to: How to combine js files and cs filesFollow LPH’s advice.
The section you’re looking for is “JS File Management” and “CSS File Management”. Start manually adding JS /CSS files to a group and save. Make sure you apply the .htaccess edits when W3TC prompts you for them.
In reply to: How to make a private community?Code in functions.php only runs on the blog in question.
If you have BP activated sitewide, put the code in /wp-content/bp-custom.php as that will run throughout your install.
In reply to: ALL images gone after updateDid you add a file called “ms-files.php” to “wp-content”?
In reply to: How to combine js files and cs filesCurrently, in W3 Total Cache, you have to manually add the JS into a group. Same for CSS.
Make sure you use relative links when adding the JS to a group (eg. wp-content/plugins/xxx/xxx.js)W3 Total Cache v0.9 (currently in development) is said to make this much easier.
In reply to: Activation email is not sent from ’Dashboard Site’Remove the register.php from your user blog’s theme because you shouldn’t need it.
That’s causing the problem.In reply to: Captcha or new account approvals?If you’re using WPMU or WP 3.0 in network mode, try this:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-registration-options/The plugin author hasn’t updated this for single WP yet.
A more, manual method involves forwarding the activation emails to an admin account so you can approve them manually that way.
Put this sample code in your theme’s functions.php:
http://wordpress.pastebin.com/Qf2cskRjReplace “get_site_option( “admin_email” );” with a custom email address if you don’t want it to forward to your admin email addy.
Something simple to check – try looking at the HTML page source to see if the activity reply is actually parsed on the page?
If it is, it could be some CSS rules that’s causing the activity update to be hidden.Also try using the bp-default theme if you aren’t using it already.
In reply to: Home Page Forced To Activity PageI just tried to duplicate your problem on my local install, but couldn’t.
Perhaps something else is interfering and causing the redirect?Are you using any BP plugins that handle redirection?
Anything in your .htaccess file? Any custom code in your theme’s functions.php?If that fails, you can always set another WP page as the default front page. Then see if the redirect still occurs.
