It’s most likely a WordPress issue.
Go to the WordPress admin dashboard and create or edit a post and attempt to paste your Medium link there. If it also doesn’t work, then it’s a WordPress problem.
In reply to: Ordered list tag creates weird resultsThe problem is the Activity component only allows certain elements to be shown in the activity stream.
By default,
<ol>and<li>are not among those whitelisted elements. You can override this behavior with the following code snippet in your theme’s
functions.phpfile or via wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php:// Allow list-item element through add_filter( 'bp_activity_allowed_tags', function( $retval ) { $retval['ul'] = $retval['ol'] = $retval['li'] = array(); return $retval; } );I’ve also opened a ticket about this here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7538In reply to: SuperAdmin and I can’t modify xprofile infoThis is fixed in the development branch of 2.8.
In the meantime, you can manually apply the following fix until 2.8.3 is released:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/11520In reply to: Nested shortcode for IDYou should post this on the bbPress forums:
https://bbpress.org/forumsThis is the BuddyPress forums.
It’s probably because you are using a Facebook login plugin, which would bypass any activation process (I’m guessing).
In reply to: Can’t upload profile pic with ipad or iphoneGraphene Mobile Neo is a premium addon so it is hard for us to test it. What happens when you disable that addon? Does the uploader work? If not, you’ll have to look into debugging iOS Safari.
If you can duplicate this issue on a free theme, let us know.
In reply to: Can’t upload profile pic with ipad or iphoneCan you try changing your theme to something like Twenty Seventeen?
Sometimes the current theme has CSS that conflicts with BuddyPress functionality.
What theme are you using?
In reply to: Can’t upload profile pic with ipad or iphoneCopy the code from here:
https://pastebin.com/raw/X6Nc0QdsInto
/buddypress/bp-core/css/avatar.min.css.The user tested this on iPhone 6S, iPad Mini and iPad Air with success.
I believe the last successful version was BP 2.7.2, but the CSS I linked to should account for that.
In reply to: Can’t upload profile pic with ipad or iphone@ketzita – Can you copy
avatar.csstoavatar.min.cssand see if that fixes the issue? The patch above only works on development installs since those installs only look for the
avatar.cssfile. Production installs looks for theavatar.min.cssfile.One user has confirmed that this works.
If you are using SMTP, you might want to try changing the port from
25to587or whatever the alternative port is if your email provider supports an alternative. Also, this is probably very relevant:
https://stackoverflow.com/a/31480796The problem is BuddyPress initially records the activity item from whatever protocol that the site is running in.
So let’s say I’m posting at
http://example.com, BuddyPress would record any uploaded content usinghttp. It sounds like you have moved to
https, so these older activity items would still usehttp. I would probably recommend forcing your site to always resolve tohttps, then future activity items should always usehttps. As for older content, you would need to filter the activity content and replace older
httpinstances withhttps. In reply to: Edit a topic with BBPressThis is a bbPress bug, which is scheduled to be fixed in bbPress v2.6.
See https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2690.
In the meantime, manually add the following fix:
https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/5857Just a guess, but it sounds like you have a plugin that is modifying the user query somewhere.
Try to check the list of plugins that you have that might be altering the user query.
In reply to: Fatal error: Class ‘BP_XProfile_Data_Template’ not fDownload and unzip a fresh version of BuddyPress to
wp-content/plugins/buddypressto ensure that you have all files and not a corrupted install. If you are using a caching plugin, you would also have to purge your cache. You shouldn’t cache the registration or activation pages anyway.
I’ve noticed similar things myself.
Can you see if the following helps?
Add this code-snippet to wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php file?
remove_filter( 'bp_email_get_property', 'bp_core_deprecated_email_filters', 20, 4 );remove_action( 'bp_send_email_success', 'bp_core_deprecated_email_actions', 20, 2 );In reply to: Profile Page LayoutYou’ll want to look at our template hierarchy codex page:
https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/theme-compatibility-1-7/template-hierarchy/
https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/theme-compatibility-1-7/template-hierarchy/#single-member-pagesThen, you could customize the layout of your member profile pages by adding a sidebar or whatever only on member profile pages.
In reply to: Can’t upload profile pic with ipad or iphoneGood that the iOS file browser pops up now. Sorry to hear that uploading still doesn’t work though, will need at least another user to verify this.
I don’t have an iOS device so I cannot test this functionality I’m afraid.
What version of iOS are you using? If you’re on an older version, try and upgrade?
In reply to: Can’t upload profile pic with ipad or iphoneHere’s
avatar.cssthat’s been patched up:
https://pastebin.com/raw/X6Nc0QdsIf your site doesn’t use RTL, then you just need
avatar.css.Please replace
/buddypress/bp-core/css/avatar.csswith this file and retry in iOS. Remember to purge your browser cache. In reply to: Can’t upload profile pic with ipad or iphone@ketzita – Thanks for testing.
Can you try purging your browser cache in iOS Safari? Then, try again?
In reply to: Can’t upload profile pic with ipad or iphoneHi @elijeh,
Can you try the following fix?
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/7416/7416.01.patchIn reply to: BuddyPress GroupsView your group memberships under your profile’s Groups page.
In reply to: Ephemeral MessagesYou could probably run a cronjob to remove various activity items and private message threads if they’re older than a certain interval.
Of course, this would need to be custom-developed.
In reply to: verification email link needs httpsIf you’re talking about this specific instance where a user has registered a site during registration:
Then, I’ve added a fix for this here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/7508/7508.01.patchIn reply to: verification email link needs httpsYou should use HTTPS throughout your site if you want to force the email to use SSL links.
Or force HTTPS on individual pages like the registration page so activation email links will use SSL.
The other alternative is filtering the email tokens to use HTTPS:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.8.2/src/bp-core/bp-core-functions.php#L3120If you’re a WordPress developer, hook on to the
'bp_after_send_email_parse_args'filter and do checks against the'tokens'array key.For more info on the
'bp_after_X_parse_args'filter, see:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/using-bp_parse_args-to-filter-buddypress-template-loops/This is not a BuddyPress problem; this is a bbPress problem, which is scheduled to be fixed in bbPress 2.6.
See:
https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2690Until then, you can manually apply the following change:
https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/5857
