In reply to: BBpress setup through buddypress plugin?
@milleja46 – You’re trying to do an external bbPress install, is that what you want? Did you want to use the internal forums built-in with BuddyPress?
And also, disable that bbpress-admin plugin.
@scotm – Copy /bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/profile/profile-loop.php and modify to your heart’s content!
You can either delete the profile loop and input the information one by one using the technique above, or omit an item by manipulating the profile loop.
More info here:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-profile-data-loop-bp_has_profile/Now this is just my honest opinion, but I wouldn’t get it (this isn’t a slight against Lisa).
If you glance the TOC, it’s more of an introduction to BP, which is great if you don’t know anything about WordPress or BuddyPress and you’re just diving in. And, you’re right, you can find most of this info online.
If you are an intermediate developer (or if you’re experienced with WP), you can learn as you go and dig through the BP code and other BP plugin’s code.
FYI, WPMU.org is not an affiliate site.
Wrong Ray, but thanks
In reply to: Reset Options in DatabaseDo you have any other BP plugins running (other than BuddyPress)? If so, disable all of them.
Are you using a custom BP theme? If so, use the default.Yeah, but then you’d have an influx of stickies from across all the group forums! (Imagine 20+ stickies in the main forum directory!)
There’s a thing in bbPress called the super sticky (look it up!). I haven’t digged through the BP forum code to see if such code exists, but I could see this being useful.
In reply to: Reset Options in DatabaseDid you change these options from the DB? Or through the WP admin interface?
If through the WP admin interface, disable any BP plugins and see if your site comes back.
@stwc – because it’s a sticky. eg. https://buddypress.org/community/groups/requests-feedback/forum/
Would be nice if the site admin could set super stickies.
In reply to: Members page not alignedTry this in your stylesheet:
#members-dir-list .item-list li {clear:both;margin:0 0 2em 0;}In reply to: How do i activate my buddypress pagesGet to this screen in your WP admin panel:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Permalinks_SubPanelSet it to “Day and Name”. Save. Check your BP pages and see if they work.
Don’t worry about the .htaccess file for now.
In reply to: How do i activate my buddypress pagesSet your permalinks to something other than the default.
Afterwards, make sure that a .htaccess file is written in your WP root directory. In reply to: How can users add a new post in buddypress? If you’re using standard WP, just assign new users the WP role of “Contributor” or higher… that’s it!
In reply to: [New Plugin] CubePoints Buddypress Integration! It should work on WPMU, just activate the plugin on the blog where BuddyPress is active.
In reply to: Buddypress on WordPress vs WordPress MUAhh okay, that’s what I thought!
In reply to: Can’t paginate from a search on buddypress.orgYup, it’s a known problem.
In reply to: My header doesn’t show anythingI think @helpme1 is referring to avatars.
In reply to: Activity StreamIn reply to: Buddypress on WordPress vs WordPress MU@techguy – I’m aware of that. But andrea_r noted something different about some WPMU features (I’m guessing deprecated functions, unless I’m misinterpreting something).

In reply to: My header doesn’t show anythingThis could possibly be the most vague forum thread in history! Okay “not in history”, but it doesn’t give us much info to go on!
What exactly are you trying to do?
In reply to: pages not found after server migrationYou should actually be using anything other than the default permalink structure.
Was a .htaccess file generated in your WP root directory?
Do regular WP posts and pages use your custom permalink structure? In reply to: pages not found after server migrationAre you using the default permalinks? If so, please try changing them:
