    The correct way to do is using the function:

    bp_loggedin_user_domain()

    See, these other recent threads: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/link-to-profile-messages-friends-and-settings/

    That sort of problem is typically caused by a plugin clash.

    Have you definitely tried with all plugins (except BuddyPress) removed, and using the bp-default theme, and nothing being loaded in your bp-custom.php file?

    Try clearing all your browser caches as well, and restarting the browser. Also do you have the problem in other browsers (Firefox, Chrome, etc.)?

    Does Constant Contact claim to be BuddyPress compatible / integrate with BuddyPress registration?

    It’s not something I’ve seen them advertise — are you integrating it using a plugin that claims to support it? If so, you would be best as Hugo advises, to ask on the plugin forum.

    Hey Abbie,

    given the other redirect problem was caused / fixed by an amend in your wp-config file, it would be a good idea to include the content of that file in this thread. Also include contents of your .htaccess.

    Cheers, Roger

    The problem is in a 3rd party plugin that you are using — it hasn’t been updated for nearly 2 years.

    You will be best to ask on the support forums for the plugin:

    If there’s a shortcode for WordPress for this, it should work for BuddyPress, as it’s the same name system underneath.

    It’s something one would normally do in a template file, rather than a shortcode in page content.

    Paul’s suggestion to fix this doesn’t require any wp-admin access — just FTP and an editor.

    Try working through it. If that fails try removing BuddyPress from your plugins folder (again that just needs FTP access).

    And, of course, Googling the whole error is likely to return nothing — your error message has your account name in it, and a number of bytes exhausted that’s specific to your case — try simply googling the relevant portion: “fatal error: allowed memory size”

    Finally, if you really want help on this forum, you need to help yourself a little –try giving your thread a meaningful title, so visitors will know the help you’re looking for.

    Guys – bp-default shouldn’t change with every release of BP, particularly if you’re encouraging people to build child themes off it.

    If you want to change look and feel of the default theme packaged with BP, you should release it under a new name, pretty much as WP does (kubrick.. default.. twenty ten… twenty eleven). Then when a user upgrades the core, their site will continue to look and feel just the way they intended it to.

    If, because of the nature of BP (regular new features), you’d also like to offer a parent theme that grows with each release, then OK — offer that as a second option — but label them clearly.

    Hi Auktweena — that plugin is not related to BuddyPress, so you would be better off asking questions on the forum for the plugin, or on the wordpress.org forums.

    As for step 3 – that’s standard ‘stuff’ for integrating a plugin’s templates into the theme you’re using for your website. This article gives you an introduction to theme development in WordPress: https://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Development

    Generally, theme work requires PHP development experience. In your case, to get the basics up and running, it looks like you just need to copy some files… you’ll need an FTP client to navigate and copy / move around the files on your website.

    There is not difference between WordPress users and BuddyPress users – they are the same thing on a BuddyPress enabled site.

    You would be best using WordPress user capabilities, and then some logic in your template code to authorise / reauthorise access based on those capabilities.

    Just about anything is possible if you are a good PHP developer.

    @justjd23 – if you are looking for a BuddyPress developer, you can post on the jobs board: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-jobs-board/forum/

    Here is an example of how to check a user’s role: http://www.peterrknight.com/get-wordpress-user-role-by-id/

    You can also look at this WordPress page for more information on user roles: https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities

    It would need custom development.

    It’s fine integrating with an existing (WordPress) site.

    Does it work if you switch to the bp-default theme? ( If it does, you would be better asking the question on the Dynamix forums).

    See also, my question above about which URL you are using for registration… what do you have for your registration page (check in wp-admin); what are you entering in your browser to try and reach the registration page?

    @rogercoathup

    Participant

    Which theme? What URL are you using for registration?

    Are you already logged in (if you are, you will be redirected away from registering)?

    Have you enabled new user registrations in wp-admin?

    @rogercoathup

    It might help you get an answer, if you told people what bp-home does / did, and also what features you are looking for.

    Is there a reason why you are posting endless duplicates, and typing in capitals… are you a particularly important person, more so than anyone else on this forum?

    You can’t delete buddypress.org / wordpress.org (they are the same thing) accounts

    I’ve got no idea why Automattic pursue this policy — I’ll agree with you that it seems ridiculous. If you mention it on their wordpress.org forums, quasi-Automattic employees will shout you down (I guess they don’t adhere to the ‘customer is always right’ mode of operating).

    Of course, you should be able to delete your account, but you can’t.

    Hi Abbie,

    a couple of observations, although not a solution:

    Your link URLs are correct – they don’t need /profile on the end of them. BuddyPress will capture /websitename/members/username and direct it to the default page for your profile.

    s2member is compatible with BuddyPress – so again, that shouldn’t be a problem.

    I’m fairly sure redirection of links to the home page has been discussed before — hopefully someone else (or Google) can point you to the previous threads / help further. It might be an idea to share details of your hosting (is it Apache for example), and any mods to your .htaccess files. Also, which permalink structure have you chosen?

    Cheers, Roger

    No, that’s not the right place to look. The drop down is set up in a front end theme file: post-form.php in the activity folder of the bp-default theme.

    In your child and / or bespoke theme, add a post-form.php file modified as you need to reorder the drop down.

    @Eliott — I don’t know of any documentation on the function, you are best looking through the code for the arguments it takes. API documentation is very thin on the ground.

    If you take a look at the skeleton component ( https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-skeleton-component/ ), it gives you a model for registering your own components and actions, which you can then use in conjunction with the notifications system (e.g. as parameters to bp_core_add_notification() )

    Similarly, have a search through the codebase to see how the default BP components call the function.

    Your database hasn’t been installed correctly — the groups table isn’t there.

    Did your BuddyPress install complete correctly? Did you enable the Groups component? Any error messages in your server logs when you installed BP?

    Have you tried reinstalling BuddyPress?

    Finally, what versions of WP / BP?

    @rogercoathup

    usernames are all listed in wp-admin — just click on the users tab.

    Passwords are encrypted and stored in the database. Of course, the actual password a user has selected is not available to you.

    bp_member_avatar()
    bp_get_member_avatar()

    They are defined in bp-members-template.php , and take a number of optional arguments including user ID.

    I was just saying: integration avec le AJAX (de BP) est tres dificil..

    … mais oui… bp_ajax_querystring is the important thing.

    I don’t have an example, and I don’t know of any documentation on this. Maybe someone else can show you a code sample.

    Bon chance
    Roger
