$10 to the first to come up with a fix! Haha!
Anyone got any ideas?
Sorry about all the questions r-a-y, I should read more! Will let you know how I get on and give them dev boys a nudge to get this in. People will love it!
Nice one r-a-y you persuade them buddy! This is so essential. So even if users change their names, only their username will be displayed site wide? (Except in their profile)
R-A-Y you are brilliant. With regards to seeing the users full name on the site, you mention the profile loop.
What exactly is that and where will it show up? Also will this be in 1.2.4 for sure?
Thanks so much for this. If it works, they’ll be a donation coming your way for sure.
In reply to: Swear Words Filter & Avatar ModerationThe webpurify plugin is currently in the process of being made BP compatible and should be out in the next 2 weeks I have been told. It’s a great plugin to stop bad language and any other terms you want to stop being said in your forums but does have a cost associated with it. Check it out on the webpurify website.
In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum Posts@Dwenaus Great stuff, I’ll check it out! Let me know if you integrate custom rankings, that would be sweet!
Regards
Ross
In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum PostsYeah, editable ranks would be superb. It gives members something to aim for!
How can I change the highlight colour? I thought yellow was the only option?
In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum Posts@Dwenaus Great plugin!
Is there any possibility that a rank could be integrated into a persons Karma Score as well as the colour they get and also do we get an opportunity in the future to modify the colours ourselves? Also a blue thumbs up and a red thumbs down would be nice and make the rating system stand out much more on posts.
I love the idea of this plugin though and when I get my Paypal account up and running when my site launches I’ll gladly donate to get these developments integrated!
Thank you!In reply to: hiding content from non logged in membershttp://vaso.sma.hu/blog/restricted-area-plugin-for-wordpress/
Try that to hide parts of posts until users log in,
Nice idea,
I’d be interested in making this happen too.Cheers Paul,
I have only just started up using WP and BP and although I’m learning how to use the software, the programming side of stuff is a little out of my depth for now so I didn’t know if people around this site would actually do work for you if requested. Is there a section of the site where you can advertise work?
Thanks.Cheers Boone, I need to read up on this and experiment.
Basically one of the tabs I am needing to create needs to have a separate piece of html code in it which will be DIFFERENT for each group.
How can I achieve this? Effectively it’s a different widget for each group and I have 2000 groups. The widget calls for the latest price of a stock on the stock market and is unique to each group. That’s why I’d love to be given a text box on the page in that tab that I, as Admin could paste code into, so it can be different in each group. Thanks so much for the help so far. If I find it a bit too diffficult to do this by the way, is there anywhere I can pay a developer to do this and do you know how big a job it would be, costs etc?
Wow, thanks for the quick reply.
I’m totally new to BP and WP and have no idea where to start coding a plugin myself but at least I know it’s possible. Where can I read up on this and how long would it take to create? I might need 2 extra tabs on the groups with each one having a page that only I can edit with text or a html widget. How would I edit the pages? Could that be done in the front end of the site but only be accessible to me?Sound Great Ray,
I noticed it in private messaging, on the sidebar that tells you you are logged in and when posting a comment. If we could leave the name on the registration form that is fine but I just want the username displayed on all front end stuff that the user can contribute to.
The main reason for this is to stop people from pretending to be other users.
I really appreciate this and if anyone notices where else the names need changing then let us know! Cheers RAY!
Great idea,
Yeah it would be good to somehow hide the first and last name fields and have them filled with copies of the username somehow.
Let me know how you get on!In reply to: Order of posts in Group forumshttps://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2354
So the patch there enables the order of forum posts to be reversed with the latest on page one.
How do I apply a patch or can anyone turn this into a plugin?
Nice one Andrea. As I mentioned, it still shows the users full name in private messages and on their actual login sidebar. Any way we can alter the code to show username here also?
Right the only places I still see the BP Name (required) field showing, rather than the username is in private messages sent to users and in my OWN sidebar where I have logged in.
Is this something on the roadmap to centralise with WP as it does cause lots of confusion?
Hi Ray!
That’s amazing mate,
Will this display the uername sitewide? Forums, Groups, activity, messages etc? And is this something that will be integrated into BP as standard in the future? With regards to the parent activity, you said there might be a better way for this? In what way do you mean?
When someone uses the @username are you supposed to get a notification because you don’t. It says you do when you click on the ? next to the @username on someones profile but you only get it appearing under the @mentions. It would be good to get a notification wouldn’t it?
With regards to names, their should just be one username that is used for everything on the front end. The first and Last name is useful in the backend but out on the site just ONE global name is essential in my eyes!
In reply to: Location of page numbers, next page …Totally agree with this!
I’d like the navigation style from the ‘page navi’ WP plugin to be integrated into BP.Take a look at that plugin for WP articles. Would be awesome for BP groups and forums navigation too!
In reply to: Avatars…ongoing issue with this!hmm, sorry to hear that didn’t work. That seemed to solve it for me.
I don’t have the knowledge to answer how to make a set of custom avatars but I have seen on many sites custom sets so yes you can definately do that!
In reply to: Avatars…ongoing issue with this!Hi,
Not sure if this will solve your problem but I had this problem and fixed it by defining the absolute URL for uploads in the miscellaneous settings in the dashboard.Go into the settings and where it asks for the full path to files, type in the full url to your uploads folder.
eg. http://www.yoursitename/wp-content/uploads
Let me know if it works!
