    I would be careful about upgrading right now. So much has changed and there is not a final tagged version of 1.1 yet. Word on the street is 2 weeks and we’ll have a stable release of 1.1

    Holy Mackeral! Thanks so much Jeff! It’s working great now.

    You’re a BuddyPress site saver!

    That’s a really good question Jeff and now that you mention it, I am not so sure. I’m almost positive it was 1.0.3 and that the activity was working. But, as I said, I am not sure

    I should point out that the two tables that the latest trunk drops are not in my database even though I am running 1.0.3. Should I manually recreate the tables and see what happens? If I activated the 1.0.3 plugin it should have recreated those tables don’t you think?

    The tables im referring to are:

    bp_activity_sitewide

    bp_activity_user_activity

    Thanks again Jeff,

    Jeff,

    First off, I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to look over my foul up. I am using the tagged version of BP (1.0.3).

    The first line of my bp-activity.php does indeed read:

    define ( 'BP_ACTIVITY_DB_VERSION', '1300' );

    And I do see where the tables are dropped in the latest trunk.

    Since re-installing the stable version (1.0.3), I haven’t seen any activity show up on the widget which is in place on my homepage: http://modestobuzz.com in the bottom left column.

    I just checked my database and it looks like the only table for activity is

    wp_bp_activity_user_activity_cached

    which is recording the most recent activity.

    Would bp-activity-widgets.php be the correct file to start investigating? It seems as though somewhere in the database there is a switch that tells the plugin where to grab activity from because reinstalling 1.03 should work, but it doesn’t.

    Well, I looked and I only have one site wide activity widget under ‘Available Widgets’ and none under ‘Inactive Widgets’. I’ve taken it off of the sidebar, put it back on, all to no avail…

    Thanks for trying Gaetan.

    Anyone else know what’s going on?

    Much appreciated

    This sort of functionality would be great! Is their a way to do this with user roles in wordpress?

    My social network is based around a city, so I ran a contest on the homepage that asked people to identify a landmark in a picture i posted. To enter they had to send their answer to me on the website. It worked pretty well.

    Twitter is amazing. Become an authority on Twitter for whatever your network is about.

    After I upgrade, which I just did so successfully (thanks Burt), can I re-enable Ping and Track backs?

    @roymckenzie

    Thanks for looking Burt!!!

    :-D

    My XMLrpc was already disabled. I went ahead and disabled Ping and Track backs. Going to go download 2.8.2 right now and install! Thanks so much Burt, I was getting disheartened.

    No I turned of caching. For instance, I just deleted a bunch of spam registrants. The last spam registrant with a blog, their theme is taking over my home page. I don’t have any posts in my root blog.

    Since we’re naming surprise features we would like to see released in the next version, might I also add privacy controls. I think what makes some social networks so successful is that people can set boundaries with people. For example, say you put your phone number or email address on your profile. You might not want the world to see that personal information, but you may want to make it available to your friends and new people that you become friends with.

    That’s my delusional wish! :-)

    Yea this is a big deal. I have had several users ask how to hide their profile.
