In reply to: DONATE TO SEE BP MESSAGES
We should continue this conversation in private.
You can contact me via my profile info.In reply to: Combining 2 sql databases for 2 sitesUse this hook:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API/Action_Reference/user_register…To create a user on the other site.
This assumes that the only data shared between the databases are the wp_users table entries.
And the registration process has to be identical. In reply to: DONATE TO SEE BP MESSAGES>how would you normally set this kind of arrangement up?
Do you mean how do I work with clients or how would I approach writing the plugin?
@jschodde
Thanks for sharing the warning and fix instructions. However, a member’s id is used in most or all BP and WP tables.
For example, did you not have to update the user_id in wp_bp_activity ?In reply to: [Resolved] Create Group goes to a blank pageYou have other 404 problems too…
http://www.badgerakpsi.org/directory/user/26So there is a larger problem with your page assignments or permalink structure or some custom theme code.
In reply to: Bad Link to Profile Editprofile/edit/group/1
is the correct structure as in
members/bob/profile/edit/group/1/The ‘group’ refers to a profile group.
The ‘1’ means the base group as set up here:
wp-admin/users.php?page=bp-profile-setupIn reply to: DONATE TO SEE BP MESSAGESSo a member has to make a separate donation to see each new message trail?
This will require the hiring of a buddypress developer to create a custom plugin.
You can contact me via my profile info.In reply to: Customising markup from core functionsI don’t think you can over-ride that function and unfortunately it doesn’t use apply_filters.
So calling your own function is probably the way to to.In reply to: Check value from bp_member_profile_dataSomething like:
$field_check = xprofile_get_field_data( 'the field name', bp_displayed_user_id() ); if ( 'Physician' == $field_check ) // show a buttonIn reply to: Change first page shown for user profileTry putting this in your wp-config.php file:
define( 'BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT', 'profile' );In reply to: BuddyPress 1.8 IssueIn
\buddypress.1.8\buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\members\single\member-header.phpFind
do_action( ‘bp_member_header_actions’ );If that action is not in your custom theme, the buttons will not appear.
As always, the simple way to check is to switch your theme to the wordpress 2012 theme.
If the buttons appear, the fault is in your custom theme. In
\buddypress\bp-xprofile\bp-xprofile-screens.phpSee
do_action( ‘xprofile_updated_profile’, bp_displayed_user_id(), $posted_field_ids, $errors );In reply to: Better sorting for new bp_group_has_members() queryGood idea.
You should submit an enhancement ticket on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/
And if you can submit a patch with the ticket… even better. You don’t need to query the field_data twice
<?php $bpProfileField = bp_get_profile_field_data( 'field=What makes me tick...&user_id=' . get_the_author_meta( 'ID' ) ); if ( empty ( $bpProfileField) ): ?> <p>Apparently <?php echo get_the_author() ?> does not feel like sharing anything. Isn't this sad?</p> <?php else: ?> <p><?php echo $bpProfileField; ?></p> <?php endif; ?>You can google BuddyPress functions or grep the source or check the codex.
bp_profile_field_data will echo the result.
You want to use bp_get_profile_field_data which just returns the result.
Then you need to tweak your conditional to check for ’empty’ rather than a boolean.
if ( empty ( $some_var ) )Also note the apply_filters hook in that function ( and many others)
I’ll bet you’ll find that interesting. In reply to: buddypress.org login brokenStill happening for me here.
Intermittent and inconsistent – glad it’s not my bug assignment. In reply to: [Resolved] Add profile fields to Group Members loopUse bp_get_group_member_id() and pass the id to xprofile_get_field_data(…)
If you can’t figure it out and/or you want to honor field visibility settings,
there is a premium plugin available: BuddyProfileDataIn reply to: Looking to Hire BuddyPress Expert
Please provide contact info if you list there. You can contact me at PhiloPress.
We do a lot of custom work / extensions for both WordPress and BuddyPress. In reply to: Users can not post in Forums@mercime
Thx for the link.
It’d be nice to have a choice.Have you tried the beta?
In reply to: [Resolved] select the first tab in the nav profilein wp-config.php, on its own line, paste:
define( 'BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT', 'profile' );In reply to: Debug>it is conflicting with other plugin
What other plugin ?
Deactivate that plugin. Does the Notice disappear? That notice means that something, probably a plugin, is calling bp_setup_current_user too early.
But it’s just a Notice, not an Error.
So it may not be the source of the problem you’re having. In reply to: Adding extra field data to Members Directory@mercime
Thanks for pointing the OP to our PhiloPress plugin@daol9999
Thanks for the purchasefunction tweak_button ( $button ) { $button[link_text] = 'my icon ' . $button[link_text]; return $button; } add_filter( 'bp_get_group_join_button', 'tweak_button', 1, 1 );In reply to: BuddyPress Lke Plugin Updated@darrenmeehan
>I’m not sure whether to fix a few things at a time or to do the massive rehaul I’d like to.The old ‘improvements vs. legacy support’ dance.
It’s a free plugin ( and a sweet one ) so do what’s best for you.
I’d do the overhaul and require BP 1.7 + going forward.
In reply to: Create Groupdo you have ‘user groups’ selected in wp-admin Settings > BP ?
do you have ‘allow members to create groups’ selected in wp-admin Settings > BP > Settings ?
