In reply to: Add BP Notifications To WP Custom Menu
This only works as a widget, but if you can code you could convert it to a plugin that works with your custom menu: http://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-notifications-widget/
In reply to: BP errors…That’s not a BuddyPress error.
It’s an error from the elvito-bp plugin.You might try asking the plugin author:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/elvito-bpI suggest you ask them to read this:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/plugin-development/checking-buddypress-is-active/Also – imo – that plugin is lacking basic security.
In reply to: BP Member Notes – betaI’ve changed this to a class.
Not sure I’m getting all possible advantages of using a class.
If a dev sees this, any tips appreciated.Thanks to mercime for the issue report re the first commit.
I wouldn’t say it’s entirely harmless.
If you need to check something like user roles right after you load your plugin but before continuing, you can do something like this:
`
function something_check_access () {
$current_user = wp_get_current_user();
$roles = $current_user->roles;
$role = array_shift($roles);if($role == ‘administrator’ ) {
// add your hooks here
}
}
add_action(‘init’, ‘something_check_access’);`I don’t believe it’s possible at the moment, without hacking the core.
I hope I’m proved wrong.
The Group_Extension API only handles single group pages.In reply to: [Resolved] user profile will not loadYou have a redirect loop. So the page will never load.
Why is it trying to call miproduco.altervista.org ?
In reply to: Profilemenu indicatorsThere are functions for the total-counts for most, maybe all, of the tabs.
For example, this is used in many template files, such as bp-default-theme/members/index.php
`bp_get_total_friend_count( $user_id )`
You’ll have to provide the $user_id and hunt down the other functions yourself.
In reply to: Profilemenu indicators> profilemenu indicators
What indicators ? Numbers ?
>better indications
Indications of what ?
In reply to: [Resolved] headers already sent – plugins.phpOk, forget the redirects.
And you have to put
`do_action( ‘template_notices’ );`
in the mark-up in your screen_function.Having it the template plugins.php file does not do anything.
Can a mod ‘Resolved’ this for me ?
I can’t edit the thread title.
Clicking the bottom EDIT just takes me to the https://buddypress.org/ home page.In reply to: Re-order Subnav tabs in profile pageI believe it has been bundled.
Try here:
http://shop.taptappress.com/downloads/category/plugin/In reply to: What do I charge my client?OP –
You put yourself in a tough position, waiting this late re payment.
How much you charge them should be based on whether you want to continue working with them.Re equity: When offered equity, the main issue isn’t financial reward. Ask yourself if you want to make a major investment of time and effort in those offering the equity.
Re bids: Protecting yourself on a flat bid requires a thorough spec, as boone says. The lead time spent on the spec can kill you. And become an albatross if you do get the job.
So I don’t hold much for bids and don’t care much re contracts.
With new clients, it’s about the people you deal with.
After an initial round of communication, during which you provide some good info / advice, provide a rough estimate and ask for an upfront payment.For jobs you estimate at less than a day – ask for half of the estimate you provide.
For longer jobs ask for at least half of your daily fee.How they react will set the stage.
If the client balks, dithers or counter-offers, walk away because it seldom gets any better.In reply to: [Resolved] headers already sent – plugins.phpStill stuck on this.
Have removed the white-space from BP default theme member files – always removing the close and open php tags before get_header( ‘buddypress’ );Here’s the error message:
`Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at …/wp-content/themes/extendDefault/header.php:2) in …/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 876`If I use wp_safe_redirect, it doesn’t throw the error.
If I use bp_core_redirect, it does throw the error.Both methods refresh the page.
Neither shows the message from bp_core_add_message.Anyone? @djpaul ?
In reply to: [Resolved] headers already sent – plugins.phpI’ve removed the ‘div id=message’ which is created by bp_core_render_message, duh.
Still don’t see any messages.
This is not a custom component, just a plugin – is that an issue ?
In reply to: [Resolved] headers already sent – plugins.phpI’ve added do_action( ‘template_notices’ )
to plugins.php, but still no messages appear.In reply to: [Resolved] headers already sent – plugins.phpUsing wp_safe_redirect instead of bp_core_redirect
gets rid of the ‘headers already sent’ error.Now I have to figure out why bp_core_add_message isn’t showing the messages.
I’ve added this div
`id=”message” class=”error” style=”display: block;`
after the item-header div in plugins.php
but no messages appear…In reply to: Send user notification when activity is deletedThanks for all the updates.
This will be useful to somebody.In reply to: Friend Filter / SearchHi Steve,
You want an input text box that the user can use to enter search terms?
If so, it’s not really a filter like ‘Order By’.You’ll need to write a plugin. And probably use the this hook in members/single/friends.php
`do_action( ‘bp_before_member_friends_content’ ); `
template to add the input box.Then you’ll need to write a custom query to handle the search and then output the results to the template above or provide a new template.
In reply to: Custom post types to activityThat approach is the proven standard.
Here’s a thread on it:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/display-custom-post-types-in-activity-feed/You don’t say where you’re trying that code.
So it might be the file location or maybe something in how you built the cpts.In reply to: Custom post types to activityYour add_action is a mess.
Try this:function firmasite_activity_publish_cpt( $post_types ) { $post_types[] = 'yemek'; $post_types[] = 'foto'; return $post_types; } add_filter ( 'bp_blogs_record_post_post_types', 'firmasite_activity_publish_cpt',1,1 );In reply to: Finding bp_signup_email_errors hookWhy would you use BP for checking emails ?
emails are handled by WP.
register_new_user has a filter hook that allows you do anything you want.
`$user_email = apply_filters( ‘user_registration_email’, $user_email );`In reply to: User Date/Site SecurityHave you identified any BP plugins that would give you extra security ?
Have you read any of the many docs re hardening WP installs ?
Here’s a start point: https://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPressIP Deny Manager would be useful if you’ve identified IPs that are causing problems.
In reply to: Finding bp_signup_email_errors hookThere is no such function.
There is a hook – as Paul showed you.
Use that hook to write your own function.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/do_actionPut the function in a plugin or bp-custom.php
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/customizing/bp-custom-php/In reply to: No Foreign Key Relationships?Default WP uses MyISAM – so no foreign keys.
BP follows WP.For large and busy BP sites, I have switched to Inno for some tables because it uses row locking instead of table locking. While Inno supports foreign keys, there is no point in using them as it would require a massive design change.
Fixed, my mistake.
@modemlooper re BE – Nice start.
Recently created a custom import script – wasn’t too hard, but I had full control over the import format.
Will BE remain public or move to being a taptap product ?
