It’s that time again isn’t it @sooskriszta for your wish list 😉 🙂
I would leave out the @mentions on individuals they can be irritating.
As you have created tickets for all your wish list items I’m sure they’ll receive consideration so perhaps these forum posts are unnecessary?

There was a Trac ticket raised for this. I’m not sure if anyone agreed it was going to happen. Perhaps @sooskriszta can provide an update?

@sooskriszta
Sounds cool if there was a box or something beside each field in the dashboard/profile fields for admins to choose to be linkable. -

@sooskriszta I’m not a fan of the automatic linking either. You can remove the auto-linking using a plugin like this (by @bphelp):

@sooskriszta totally agree with you on your 3 (relatively) objective tests – this is why I suggested 2 key features that need to be improved in buddypress *immediately*:
1) spam fighting
2) fragment cachingFirst, 99.9% of buddypress communities have to deal with spam and it is mission critical (who wants a website overrun with spam? users…[Read more]

And tables are not suitable for mobile devices
@sooskriszta Noted. But it can be done. If you look again at the BP survey results via mobile device, the table is responsive with some modifications made on Coyler’s code. Morever, as hnla mentioned in earlier post which I agree with, you do not change semantic markup to suit devices.

@sooskriszta one of the primary goals of the last few releases has been to make them more frequent and to stick to the schedule come hell or high-water. the idea is that more frequent updates will facilitate more innovation and features. the template pack as i understand it, was too big a task to make the deadline for 1.9 given the manpower at…[Read more]

@sooskriszta
No need in calling me out on this as I am not impressed at all with just a version number. A version number is not a big deal when there is not any major features added that I have not already found solutions for, so please save your pings next time. See:

@sooskriszta BP does not add any rule to your htaccess file. Pretty permalinks must be enabled, that’s it.

You should be able to run a tortoise checkout with this url.

@sooskriszta Cool. Thank you for creating the ticket and uploading the patch.
We’ll see more patches from you in the future, yes? 🙂 -
@mercime replied to the topic How can I change the text to make it literate? in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years, 2 months ago
@sooskriszta
1. first create a folder in your hard drive e.g. buddypresstrunk/
2. Open that folder and then right-click and click on SVN Checkout in box which shows up
3. Then enter the link I gave above for BuddyPress trunk in the “URL Repository” input field which shows up and click OK button
4. Watch as files are added into that empty folder -
Hugo Ashmore replied to the topic How can I change the text to make it literate? in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years, 2 months ago
@sooskriszta Yes essentially. Ensure you have a checkout of trunk and that has update run to keep it current, then update a file and create a diff from that file created from the root of the plugin and as mercime says don’t forget to check your changes locally.

@sooskriszta https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/submitting-a-patch/
instead of downloading https://core.svn.wordpress.org/trunk/ via SVN, you’d need to download via SVN client https://buddypress.svn.wordpress.org/trunk/Then after you’ve tested the changes you’ve made in your test installation, log in and create a new ticket in…[Read more]

@sooskriszta I agree that the plugin is a terrible idea. Throttling is one thing (telling the user “hey slow down a bit”) but setting an absolute limit for the number of friendships goes against the concept of a community.
Going back to the ORIGINAL point of this topic, I said I will add throttling to the activity page and the friendship…[Read more]

@bphelp thanks Ben for the heads up.
@sooskriszta
You are right about the use case. It is not suitable for spammers protection and neither suitable for normal sites.I built it specifically for membership based sites where they wanted to limit the no. of friends and charge for increasing the limit(I had got that specific requirement from a client…[Read more]
