No joy.
I’ve been having this issue for the last month or so, in fact. Initially I thought it would obviously get fixed quickly…but I suppose it is account-specific and therefore reporting.
@mercime Thanks a bunch. Looks good on the face of it. Will try.
I’ve gotta say, though, that it is a bit irritating that many BP plugin contributors don’t upload screenshots. By contrast, for WP, I find most plugins do have screenshots.
Oh, well, I guess I can’t complain in that they are giving away their time and effort for free. It’s just that it would be nice if thousands of others didn’t have to put in too much additional time and effort in order to decide whether they want the plugin or not…
@boonebgorges Thanks for the reply. I hope you will keep this alive, and maybe even merge this into BP core. From my perspective it’s one of the most important plugins for BP.
@pawriter http://www.experiment.vacau.com returning an error.
@boonebgorges Knock, knock!
@modemlooper I am grateful to the BP team. Doesn’t make my request unreasonable.
@rogercoathup Bated breath, etc
It’s needed by pretty much everyone, and hence really a “core” feature.
WP already has some image processing built in that BP could/should leverage. As a member of a social network, I should be able to create my own albums, add photos and videos to them and tag friends and places. That much is really core. (including automatic resizing and lossless compression, and post upload of photos/videos to activity stream)
If BuddyPress Media is good, perhaps it can be merged back into BP core?
Further functionality, such as watermarking, CDN support, user notifications, comments, are probably plugin territory.
?
I’m with you @fisheyecom
Would be super cool to have a map in each group showing locations of members, hopefully by using miniature profile pictures as map-markers. Clicking on the marker should show the name, profile photo, and maybe 1-2 other pertinent details, and clicking on name should take to member profile.
Thanks @djpaul for the clarification
Wow! That’s quite something.
Here I thought that 1.6 release was set to coincide with bbPress 2.1, which has been “close to ready” for weeks now…
https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/21-release-dateSomehow I imagined that open BP tickets for 1.6 would simply be punted onto 1.7 when bbPress 2.1 is ready…
If they match BP 1.5.6 with WP 3.4, that means we’ll have to wait at least 3 months for it. And 6-9 months for 1.6
Ohh! The horror!
@djpaul Are you there, buddy?
Just for clarity: Do you mean you don’t have a timeline for release of 1.5.6 or that you don’t plan to release a 1.5.6 at all and jump straight to 1.6?
Looks like 1.5.6 only has 1 ticket remaining open, and that too has a patch awaiting review. Do you expect to release this soon? Or does like 1.6, 1.5.6 also have a dependency on bbPress 2.1?
BTW, just realized that you guys have closed no less 230 tickets (204 closed as fixed)!! Wow! The “lying” Trac says 1.6 is 91% complete. Smacking my lips in anticipation.
Got it. Also, does BuddyPress create any new user roles? I was wondering if I have default role set as forum contributor, then will they be able to use Buddypress even though they are just forum contributors?
Thanks!
@DJPaul I know you have closed the ticket as won’t fix.
However, I’d invite you to consider this:
I think the functionality that we are after is “conditional” or “nested” fields. i.e. a list of states loading based on country selected.
The data (countries/states/cities/etc) need not necessarily be packaged with BuddyPress….maybe admins can load their own lists via csv etc…what’s important is the BEHAVIOR of the field…loading lists for a sub-field based on the value chosen for a field…
Come to think of it, conditional/nested fields could have many more applications than just addresses.
I know BuddyPress is designed to to extendable. So is WordPress. But this is core functionality. Just as WP has hierarchical pages in core, BP should have hierarchical groups in core.
I’ve created a ticket for core developers’ consideration: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3961
P.S. As for propagation, the plugin author says it’s a very popular request, but he won’t do it http://www.generalthreat.com/2011/12/extending-groups-hierarchy-join-upstream/
P.P.S. I don’t know how well this plugin is working. Has conflicts with Registration Groups, and potentially others
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-buddypress-registration-groups-does-this-work-with-bp-group-hierarchyI’m confused now.
I’ve previously been advised here by @mercime to bump my posts if they aren’t responded to within 24 hours…
