@Trent — But I am getting forum activity in my site wide feed? Unless I’m understanding this differently (there’s another thread about this too)
Trent, the reason the RSS widget doesn’t work is the links go to the forum installation instead of take the user to the Group forum page. I assume the bbPress plugin is the same.
No, I can’t really. I’ve just begun learning about web development and at this point, I’m all plug and play with a tiny bit more learning creeping in every day. If you could help me, I’d sure appreciate it.
It seems to me that the function already exists, since the Site Wide Activity widget captures the Recent Group Forum Posts. The problem is, it captures everything else too. I only want the Group Forum posts. See?
Oh, thank you, Nicola. I had a feeling you could help.
The forum activity IS showing in Site Wide Activity. At least it does for me.

You don’t want to use the RSS widget, because those links take you right to your bbPress install instead of to the forum of your group page.
My activity feed is not working either. It works through the Activity widget, but I wanted to add the feed using RSS Widget and there is an error. If I go to the URL directly, it works, just not in the RSS Widget.
Perhaps our errors are related.
Use the RSS Widget to display Recent Blog Posts or Recent Posts. Use the feed from the main blog. Then you don’t need bp-blogs and you still have the display of recent posts.
I hope I’m understanding correctly.
There is a plugin for Elgg that does this. Could this be what you’re remembering?
Works! Thanks! I’m eager to try the other one(s) you’re working on…
Awesome! I’m going to try it right now…
Mike, I just looked at your buglenotes.com theme and it looks really good!
Mike, are you going to do this?
“I’d post in trac and ask for a mod that loads the directory css as part of the standard style.css/loader.php sequence. Everything else is getting loaded except that. Then your custom.css stuff will override the directory css.” — Burt
‘Cuz if you’re not, I will. I’ve just made a bunch of changes to the core css admin bar and the bp-groups.
Burt, I know you were kidding.
Hey, I appreciate your work here.
Burt, I got the alphabet letters to be blue instead of orange. Thank you.
Sorry I couldn’t figure out the freenode thing. I got a client and connected but was denied. I guess I don’t have a user account? Well, anyway, I’m happy with the forums. I’ll try to wait longer before I post, so you have more time to answer.
Thanks again for the help.
Okay, I’m done! Let’s get back to work. I’ll humor you, Burt, and go to irc.freenode.net #buddypress.
Edited: couldn’t figure that out, for now, moving on to those css files…
….
No idea what you’re talking about.

Gotta go make popcorn for my kids right now so you have plenty of time to post while I’m gone.
Ah!!! I didn’t know there was css in there.
Burt, I can’t speak for Mike, but as for me…
I am skinning buddypress-home and buddypress-member themes, by using the custom.css in each themes’ css folder. Neither of which affect that alphabet.
Thanks
Thank you, Trent.
I had tried Admin Approve (Moderate New Blogs) plugin but thought it wasn’t working, so I turned it off. One of my users was creating blogs over and over and over again because she didn’t know that I had to moderate blog creation. So I thought BP was overriding this and not letting her know that her blogs were going into the moderation queue. Apparently (by your use of it) there must have been something else happening, so I can give that a try again.
Because hacking bp-core-activation is not working for me yet!!! (Sorry, Burt, I’m trying…)
I don’t mind you getting off topic. You’re full of information and I appreciate every bit of it.
Thank you, Trent. I will explore what you’ve said.
I was working with the More Privacy Options plugin but it sent the main blog to unviewable. Perhaps I missed a setting though.
You confirmed one of my other questions — that no search engine blogs aren’t supposed to show in BP listings.
I am working with custom.css in both the buddypress-home > css and buddypress-member > css. And I can’t change that alphabet.
Okay! I see the same functions, too! I’m going to try the hack here… Thanks, Burt.
If you figure it out, please share!
I haven’t been able to skin the alphabet on the Members or Groups page.
Well, if you’re a noob, then I must be… pre-noobian.
I mean… pre-pre-pre-pre-noobian.
Oh, that would be great! You know what you’re doing and I don’t. (But I’m learning.)
Thanks so much.
That’s really helpful, Trent. I ran into that bug (your #7) many times and think that is what caused most of my trouble getting the group forums to work.
Well, no, that’s not what I understand. (Or not what I want.)
I am thinking of a user who wants other users who are logged in to see the blog listed, just not the whole internet.
Yet if the blog has option #2 set for privacy, it is not included in the list of blogs to logged in users. I think it should be.
