    Hmmm… Well, it didn’t work. Unless I did it wrong (which is very, very possible).

    I changed the code according to Andrea’s hack (above). But BP still sent out its own message and activation link, regardless of my changes. So it seemed to me that it overrode my WPMU message changes.

    But I’ll try again. Thanks, Burt.

    Thanks, Burt!

    I’ve been looking around in the css files.

    In buddypress-home > css, I found custom-sample.css. The comment in the file says to rename it as custom.css and put style changes in that file.

    This way style changes will be preserved even while updating the buddypress-home theme.

    This is the answer I needed and I’m posting it in case it will help someone else too. Thanks, Andy, for enabling this through your file structure.

    Did you put /member-themes in /wp-content? I made the mistake before of putting it in wp-content/themes, but it really goes in /wp-content.

    Oh, my goodness! It is working for me! I can’t believe it! I have all the cookies set up, too. I updated to the latest trunk (727) and now it is working! You all have been the best. Thanks for bearing through all my questions and posts.

    And then I took out all the cookie integration settings and still am in the same boat.

    This is so frustrating! Thanks for all the help everyone. I’ll keep checking back to see if there is more news…

    This is exactly my situation and I still have my cookie integration intact:

    “if i create a group in bdpress it appears in bbpress

    if i try the same for a topic post it is not (neither in bd nor bb)

    but if i create a topic in bbpress, it is shown in bdpress …..” — bebopcool

    @Trent:

    “All my problems disappeared when I temporarily moved away from cookie integration.”

    Which cookie integration steps exactly did you move away from? Or, what is involved in just the “quick and dirty” integration you mentioned?

    Yes. Duh. That’s just what I did. So sorry to bother you with my learning-curve mistakes.

    Could I ask you another question, though? I’ve looked at your site. You have the MU privacy plugin working, yes? How do you make your front page visible and yet keep the rest of your network private?

    Thanks, Trent.

    bebopcool: Thank you! You’re right… I DID have to add those two lines to wp-config.php when upgrading, but had forgotten!

    If anyone else is looking for auth_salt:

    bb-admin > Settings > WordPress Integration tells you to get auth_salt from options.php. It is not there!

    It is in wp-config.php and was defined when upgrading to 2.7.

    gogoplata — Yes, I see what you mean. But isn’t this plugin for people who are just using WP and bbPress? We’re trying to integrate the forums with the BP groups.

    In any case, I put the plugin back and I still don’t see any effect from it. I still have to login both places. And I definitely can’t add group forum posts.

    I hope your connection issues get resolved soon.

    I sure don’t want to hog this topic, but I have so many questions.

    Here’s the latest:

    When I try to update the “Group Forums” settings, I can’t (bbpress forums URL, administrator and password, etc.). I went right to the DB to make changes and that makes the fields on the settings page all blank. Why won’t this update?

    @wardeh

    Sure, I’ll email you, but I’m telling you now that I don’t know very much. :D

    Here’s the solution: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/229

    Looks like it is in the works…

    Looks to me like we don’t need the plugin?

    “This functionality is now handled automatically by bbPress since bbPress 1.0-alpha-4” on the plugin “Other Notes” page.

    @wardeh

    I’m not having any luck with the integration plugin. :(

    @wardeh

    Hey, thanks for pointing out the plugin. I’m giving that a try now…

    @wardeh

    Wondering… the bbPress WP integration asks one to look up auth_salt in the options. However, I don’t have an auth_salt #. I have a nonce_salt. So that’s the value I’m using. Can anyone comment on this? The other cookie values match up, just not that one.

    I’ve upgraded to the Alpha-4 of bbPress and the latest trunk of BP. Attempted to post a topic.

    There is no error returned (such as “topic can’t be posted”), yet the topic doesn’t get posted.

    Thanks, Burt.

    Now I am able to edit users. :D

    Still can’t get forum posts to work. Any suggestions?

    Question: Do I have to do the user mapping in Settings > WordPress Integration in the bb-admin?

    @wardeh

    Participant

    Thank you! I will give this a try! (Well, after I get the forums to work.)

    @wardeh

    Participant

    Andy,

    In my case, I create the user like you said in the readme. Then I go to bb-admin > users and when I click on “edit” for that user to give admin privileges it takes me to that user’s member page of the main site (/main-site/members/user-name/profile). I can’t edit forum privileges at all.

    So, no, this user does not have admin privileges because something is not allowing me to edit the privileges.

    bebopcool: “i cannot make the user created for buddypress in bbpress an admin as i cannot access to bbpres user profile (it gives a 404 error on every user imported from wordpress)”

    That’s what happens to me, too.

    The forums are with the groups now, but no posts can be added.

    @wardeh

    Oh! That’s it! I had put /member-themes in /themes/ not /wp-content/!!!!

    It is working now! Thank you so much. What a dumb mistake. I read where to put it a million times!

    Now I can move on to install the forums!

    I’m at a total loss. This navigation bar used to work for me until about trunk r571 or so.

    I took out my MU plugins one by one and without affecting any change on the navigation bar. Still blank screens.

    The BP member theme is here: /wp-content/themes/member-themes/buddypress-member. That’s right?

    I am not getting any error messages (as you can see above).

    I can’t think of anything else to try. (I haven’t yet added the forum because I’d like to get this working again).

    If you would take a look: http://gnowfglins.net/.

    Thanks for the help. I appreciate any you can give!
