    A hosting company can’t do more than place a plugin correctly, activating it and then if errors show up, give those to you, they can’t start scripting or fixing scripts for you, if you would like something like that, hire a programmer. :)

    What you could also do is making a ticket on the trac or just wait till someone of the buddypress theme sees the topic and answers your question.

    That’s what I meant by adding a social touch, then Polls would be usefull again for a social network.

    function xe_loggedin_user_avatar($type = "", $width = "", $height = "") {
    global $bb_current_user;
    $userID = $bb_current_user->ID;
    $files = "";
    if ($handle = opendir('/var/www/vhosts/tsukai.nl/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads/avatars/' . $userID)) {
    while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) {
    if ($file != "." && $file != "..") {
    if($type == "thumb") {
    if(substr($file, -11, 7) == "bpthumb" ) {
    $files .= $file;
    }
    } elseif($type == "full") {
    if(substr($file, -10, 6) == "bpfull" ) {
    $files .= $file;
    }
    }
    }
    }
    closedir($handle);
    }

    echo '<img src="http://tsukai.nl/wp-content/uploads/avatars/' . $userID . '/' . $files . '" width="' . width . '" height="' . $height . '" />';
    }

    This is the solution I came up with, again, if anyone has a better solution, do tell.

    You don’t? What do you want your groups to use polls for?

    Something like what’s the hottest movie right now?

    They could easily make a topic in the group forums for that and they’re not restricted to a couple of answers.

    Polls are also not part of a social network as you can’t see what users voted for what and users can’t give arguments either, so it’s anonymous. If they also added comments and ratings and stuff to the poll, then maybe it could be something for a social network.

    WordPress + Windows haven’t been a good combination since the beginning.

    Don’t really think a lot of people are using BuddyPress/WordPress on a Windows server, therefore no one can really answer.

    Hope for somebody having the magic solution or use a LAMP install.

    Could put a major strain on your server if you have to auto update it for all members their actvity.

    (Basing on that it’s a big social network.)

    If something like this gets created, only allow it for friends activities and friends of friends.

    Polls are old fashioned, I haven’t used one for years.

    Perhaps you should post this in the “BP1.2+ Plugin Wishlists” topic.

    This question is probably more something for the wpmu forums.

    Bump, working with readdir and substr now and just looking for the avatar files.

    Anyone have a better solution?

    Wow, wordpress and windows installs are bad.

    Unless Windows solved the mod_rewrite issue, you won’t be able to use buddypress. WordPress should work though, but only with the non seo friendly and ugly links.

    @xevo

    Seems to me that you don’t have mod_rewrite.

    What’s your host and is it a LAMP install or a Windows install?

    Hehe, if you keep going with your version numbers like this, you’ll soon be at version 20.0. :)

    Don’t really understand the discussion of this topic, either you take one or the other, whatever fits your needs. I myself am working on a non-profit project, so I’m going with BP Album+.

    This is really something like picking between pepsi or cola. :)

    Ben bijna klaar met de 1.2.x vertaling, zal hem daarna nog updaten om te kijken of er bij 1.2.2.1 nog wat veranderd is, maar zal niet veel zijn. Verwacht hem maandag af te hebben. :)

    @ xberseker: Have it running on a single install already, works just as well. :)

    Hook into the register function and add the user to all public groups in your database, shouldn’t be that hard.

    Wpmu has user blogs, wp single does not.

    Dutch translation is done, if you’d like, you could add it to your plugin. :)

    http://www.xevodesign.nl/files/translations/plugins/bp-album/bpalbum_nl_NL.zip

    I’d really appreciate it if you could test it on wp single.

    Finally a buddypress user gallery plugin that’s free and works with 1.2.

    Just a question though, will it work with wordpress single, or isnt it tested with it yet?

    I’ll do the Dutch translation by the way. :)

    I have quite a list.

    – Database which allows users to add to it and comment/give their opinion about, basically something like imdb.

    – The many questioned gallery plugin, I’m working on a non-profit project right now, so I’m not paying for anything.

    – Invites plugin, make your users invite other users through importing their im list for example.

    – Start user plugin, a plugin which tours people around the site and let them do certain things For example by letting them do 5 steps, and through a percentage meter, tell them how many steps they’ve done. This will make it easier for users to see what they can do on your site and how stuff works.

    – Forum inside buddypress thats not linked to groups.

    That’s probably not even all the stuff I would want for Buddypress, just the things I can come up with at the moment. :)

    If you don’t need user blogs, don’t use wpmu.

    Wpmu was created only for that purpose.

    Did you activate the buddypress theme as well? Or did you just upload them?

    Make a page in the back-end admin area, make a custom wordpress page, by adding a comment with the template name in the top (https://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#Creating_Your_Own_Page_Templates). After throwing this file inside your themes folder, you get a dropdown on the right side of your page editings page, select the file and you can use normal tags like get_header(); in the php file of the custom page template.

    This is the only correct way to make a custom wordpress page as far as I know.

    @xevo

    Try using the standard buddypress theme and see if your register page shows up.

    Deactivating a plugin not always deletes everything (like stuff in the database).

    Doubt your servers log file is saying “The register page (www.gaysurfers.net/register) is broken”.

    @ hnla: Making a website for an app is actually not nessecairy especially since people might wanna change the looks of the theme. An app also first has to be certified by apple to be placed in the app store. The only advantage it could have is it being faster than by using the internet.

    @ Modemlooper: Will you also make it wp single, or just for wpmu? Don’t mind making it wp single when you’re ready. :)
