If you register through the BuddyPress registration, you’ll notice that your username will not be allowed to have spaces, capitals etc.
Same thing applies here, don’t let your usernames contain spaces.
BuddyPress just can’t parse the %20 (which is a space) and sends you back to the frontpage.Check out the bbpress wordpress plugin. ^^
*bump*
Or could someone help me fixing my cropper, since it doesn’t work anymore, I do have a custom theme, but I just believe the javascript isn’t loaded.
Thanks,
XevoAnyone tried this yet or better, succeeded in it?
What I’m trying to get BuddyPress to do is just auto crop the image being uploaded, on registration and on new avatar upload.
Specifically for BuddyPress? No.
But since BuddyPress runs on WordPress, and since wordpress has a lot of plugins, try that.
Just unload the csv in phpmyadmin?
The new bbpress plugin being created for wordpress right now can be used like any other forum.
https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/bbpress-plugin-updatesThe forum option within buddypress can be disabled (the group-specific one).
Perhaps it’s just your browser settings?
Your theme has weird markup?
Or even your settings on your pc/mac.No one’s answering since they haven’t had it before, so it’s not a buddypress problem, meaning that it’s probably a problem from your side.
Which makes it hard to figure out. And most of us don’t give a …. since it’s not buddypress related.Harsh? Yeah, but your on your own mate. Try changing settings and validating your markup.
Just wait for the bbpress wp plugin, which is in development right now.

Still working on my own buddypress site, but I like plain colours without too many gradients and a nice amount of whitespace.
Tag clouds are dead btw, they’re only usefull for seo now a days.
Not really my style, but it looks nice.
Wpmu? There’s WordPress with multisite now a days?
And no you can’t use the native register page with BuddyPress.
Just take a carousel jquery script and let that code handle it.
Brajesh wrote a plugin for it, check it out.
Creating The sitewide global/unified search Page for your Buddypress Theme
And what would be your definition of a “real social network”?
I’m not really seeing a buddypress driven site become as big as facebook or twitter w/o some serious original ideas etc.
Seeing that BuddyPress can be setup by anyone. It’s not a matter of who wins, but a matter of what you need.
@ Mercime: From what I recall its not necessary for it to be GPL, but okay.
Don’t think it’ll be a widely used plugin, first because it can’t be used on most hosts/servers and second since not a lot of sites actually need it.
Besides that, you’ll get a lot of people nagging that the plugin won’t work on their host/server.
You mean the avatars in the BuddyPress core? Thats different then the plugins.
You should see if others have your problem and make a ticket if your the first on the trac.
Which of the 2 plugins are you referring too?
Bp media or Brajesh’s one?1. Yeah, sounds nice.
2. Nah, whats the point? Thats more specific, not something a lot of buddypress installs would need.Lok’thar.
Nice site, still some bugs. But you’ll get there.

It’s not buddypress devs responsibility too update plugins.
BP-Album is probably the most important one, I’d say.
You have to update your permalinks after activating buddypress.
I already had that setup and it works fine, but since mine isn’t a live site yet, I’m planning on working with the bbPress plugin for WordPress.
