Duplicate Bp-Groups

I am looking for a way to duplicate bp-groups easily. I want to add another element to my website, titled ‘Projects’ that will act in a very similar manner as groups and have the same privacy restrictions but will have a few different tabs added to each page. I was wondering how to most easily go about doing this and how I can make sure it will not be erased when buddypress or any other plug-ins are updated.

You can start off with this plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-group-reviews/ and build the few different tabs on your own or hire a developer to do so.

This is not exactly what I was looking for because I would need to add multiple tabs to the Projects pages in addition to removing features such as forums. Also, I would need to rename them from Groups to Projects.
