After further thought you may want to add the code supplied in bp-custom.php instead of modifying the code in the plugin because if you update that plugin in the future it will be overwritten and you would have to add it back but if it is in bp-custom.php it will remain untouched!
You will also want to add this below the above code so it covers bbPress!
add_filter('bp_get_the_topic_title', 'pccf_filter'); add_filter('bp_get_the_topic_post_content', 'pccf_filter');
In that list of swear words you may find a few words with a semi-colon(;) after them. You will need to remove those semi-colons as all is required is a comma to separate the words. You can also add other swear words to that list if it missed any! Cheers!
For donuts and coffee I tested it myself and it works but if you copied and pasted that patch code from the site it won’t work because the single quotes are not right. In wp-content-filter.php at line 208 add this:
add_filter('bp_get_activity_action', 'pccf_filter'); add_filter('bp_get_activity_content_body', 'pccf_filter');
Save it, and in the plugins options copy and paste this great list for swear words:
In the keywords to remove! Hope that helps!
No I haven’t tested either one. I would suggest trying the free plugin (wp-content-filter) and adding the patch before purchasing a service. Try it out then if it doesn’t work let us know.
Study the activity-loop.php:
Take note of the scope parameter. You can pass favorites as an argument like so:
<?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ) . '&scope=favorites' ) ) : ?>
You can try this:
and try patching it like this:
Let us know if that works out. The only other option I see is a paid service:
Even though the first question deals with bbPress the answer is it depends on what you mean by capabilities. You can can assign user roles like keymaster, moderator, participant, spectator, or blocked.
Yes, private messages can be sent and received. If you only want messages to be sent between a member and the admin that would require use of a plugin, or some custom code but it can be done!
Hope that answers your questions!
Sounds like you got some issues in your theme. Anyway if want to activate that widget simply click and drag it to the right in the appropriate widget section. On this note I am going to bed!
It may help the rest of the volunteers answer you if you provide details on your install as listed here:
Make sure the box is checked beside show the toolbar for logged out users!
If it is checked and the toolbar is still not showing up for logged out users then you have a theme issue!
Sure you can hard code anything if you want too as long as you know what to do just make sure it is done in a child theme!
As far as your issues with developers, maybe you should agree to certain things with the client and if they decide to change things after the things you agreed on are done then they will have to pay a hourly fee based on what needs to be done! Don’t ever lock yourself in to do EVERYTHING they want when some clients may be indecisive because you will loose money!
Ohhh Snappppp! lol!
Maybe your installation is the issue!
It shouldn’t be a last resort. Time is something money can never buy back in this life. If you wasted 20+ hours of your life trying to get something done on guesses and you still haven’t resolved it and you have to resort to hiring a dev then you wasted 20+ hours of your life and you still have to pay a dev. Point being 20+ hours of wasted time and the inevitable still remains.
If you have done everything mercime and hnla suggested and you are still having issues then I would suggest hiring an experience developer to sort it out for you because it is just a guessing game at this point and an experienced developer can usually find and resolve the issue fairly quickly!
Unless you disabled the WP toolbar for logged out visitors there should still be a login link in the toolbar to the top left.
Do you have a sidebar login? Do you even have a sidebar or are you using a full-width template? There should also be a login in the WP toolbar unless you have deactivated it for logged out visitors.
I am not sure I am following you but if you deactivated that plugin and a new user can register and activate an account and login successfully then this is not a BP or bbPress issue. It needs to be taken up on that plugins support forum if you insist on using this plugin. Otherwise you may want to look into alternatives! I have used:
It forces a user to complete the required xprofile fields before they can interact with the site and seem like a good deterrent against spam registrations.
Deactivate it and test registration/activation then report back your findings. You may want to take this up on that plugins support forum if after deactivating it your registration/activation is successful.
What plugin? Try my advise above by deactivating all plugins other than BP and bbPress. You need to use a process of elimination to determine if the plugin is causing the issue. Moderating memberships won’t do you much good if even after approving the user the activation fails.
It will help if you provide the plugin that is responsible for keeping the registration in moderation because BP doesn’t hold registrations for approval by default. Whatever that plugin is, try deactivating it as well as all other plugins except BP and bbPress and test the registration/activation.
1.) You do realize BP is a WP plugin right? It is not its own entity therefor if the user registers with BP activated, they are also registering with WP.
2.) By default if a user enters a wrong password they are then redirected to wp-login.php if you want to include the lost password link there may be some login widget plugins that includes that link, other wise you could get that link from wp-login.php and hard code it into your child themes sidebar.php which may not be a good idea until you get a little more experience. Try searching for plugins that will accomplish this before going that route.
3.) You may want to check the spam folder to see if the activation email went there. If not then check your servers error logs and report back.
