BuddyPress 1.1 release candidate is available for final testing. As with the beta, this version is intended for testing, so please do not run it on production sites.
As with the beta, the release candidate is available for download via zip or via subversion.
If you download the zip version you will still need to download bbPress 1.0 separately. Please extract bbPress into the folder “bp-forums/bbpress” inside of the BuddyPress plugin directory. This will not be the case with the final 1.1 version.
There have been more than 70 bugs reported and fixed since the beta last week. Thank you to those who opened tickets and submitted patches.
Please report bugs on our trac site with the milestone “1.1”. There are currently no outstanding bugs at the time of writing. Put me to work! Please use your BuddyPress.org username and password to log into the trac site.
BuddyPress 1.1 final is on target for September 30.

Hey Andy, is there a changelog of what’s new in this release? looking for that on the Buddypress.org site and just not seeing it. 🙂
Also, any word on when you’ll have:
1. “login or register” with your Facebook acct as a native option not a separate plugin (since over 250 Million ppl have them)
2. import from or a bridget for vBulletin?
Really the bbPress need a vBulletin plugin if they’re going to get traction with any established sites, but they don’t seem to have anything coming on that front… sad to see, since they have a great product, look forward to seeing it get some traction.
Thanks!
Dan
You can see the new features under 1.1 of the roadmap.
Great, off to work with this release!
Thank you so much, Andy. And also thanks to the busy people in trac. 😀
Hi man, just installed the beta over the old buddypress when you updated with this one, that i also tried. The bravepeople.se/wpmu/ turns blank and the following errors comes up in my wp-admin:
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/web34485/domains/bravepeople.se/public_html/wpmu/wp-includes/class.wp-styles.php:80) in /home/web34485/domains/bravepeople.se/public_html/wpmu/wp-includes/functions.php on line 792

Would be great with some help, I’ve been installing on and off the last hour and I cant’t figure it out..
Cool, so the roadmap doubles as a changelog, that’s unique but cool.
Any thoughts on the other points I mentioned?
Thanks!
Dan
There is a proper changelog, but I’m not going to update that for pre-release versions.
Facebook connect is available as a plugin, it will stay like that for the time being. I can’t comment for bbPress.
it would be great to have the installation that you use here for https://buddypress.org/
http://testbp.org is running the release candidate if you would like to test but not install.

It’s good, but even more I like what I’m navigating in right now, with the forums and how the Developers-area look, (instead of the Members-area on testbp.org) – I could pay to get what i needed to install this (https://buddypress.org/) on my site.
thanks Andy for all your work 😉
i’ve a question, BP1.1 will support multiple languages or has been postponed to the next version? Thanks!
First impression is great, a lot faster than the beta. Sensational! 🙂
Nice work on forum install, that was great!
Here’s what I found there’s a bug. To check go to new post, page new or edit post. Press any media button then go to Media Library there’s a php error in “bp-core.php on line 1190 and bp-core.php on line 1191”

Very excited for this release. It’s perfectly timed for my planned launch of my new project, and has the features (although there look like some great ones coming up in future revs) I needed! Thanks, Andy!

Great job Andy! Good move on putting everything into the plugin and themes folders, the structure is very slick now.

getting this message for every ‘save’ Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/creata38/public_html/wp-includes/class.wp-styles.php:80) in /home/creata38/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 865
Good to see the continued development of this. I’ll look into it once it becomes part of a standard WordPress install. I’m still learning that system 🙂
Thanks Andy
So far so good, I’ve been running this locally in wamp, seems everything working as it should so far. Not seeing errors as others do, it must be their server configurations or a plugin. Although I have a multitude of plugins running.
The bbpress forum was a bit easier this time, I still had to configure the bbpress side and a few changes in buddypress to get it working.
I had bbpress in my root folder (working for 1.03) and also a new in buddypress/bp-forums, I tried the new integration on fresh install, it threw my bb-config.php into my root folder, I had to place it in buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress.
Also must add this line in buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/bbconfig.php before the closing php tag at end:
$bb->bb_xmlrpc_allow_user_switching = true;
Place buddypress-enable.php into your bbpress plugins folder.
I went to http://localhost.localdomain/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress , logged in as admin, then clicked “Admin”.
Go to “Plugins” and activate “BuddyPress Support Plugin”
Under “Settings”/”Writing” checkmark to enable: XML-RPC
Under “Settings”/”Discussion” checkmark to enable: Enable Pingbacks
Under “Settings”/”Permalinks” Name Based, (I like my links uniform)
Under “Settings” /”Wordpress Integration” User Role Map
Set your roles,I did as follows:
WordPress Administrator – bbPress Key Master
WordPress Editor – bbPress Key Administrator
WordPress Author – bbPress Key Moderator
WordPress Contributor – bbPress Key Member
WordPress Subscriber – bbPress Key Member
Under “Settings” /”Wordpress Integration” User Integration
Cookies:
WordPress address (URL) – http://localhost.localdomain
Blog address (URL) – http://localhost.localdomain
User database:
User database table prefix wp_
WordPress MU primary blog ID 1
Make sure you click save after each of the above settings.
I suggest for everyone to compare the info in wp-config.php and insert into bb-config.php whatever is missing or different to be sure it’s all there.
This does work if configured correctly to what you need, I suggest keep trying, you will get it eventually. Is very slick.
If you really need bbpress and can’t get it integrated into buddypress, make a folder called forums with the bbpress files inside, set up your user database and cookies all same as wp and use that. Folders take precedence over links and pages. I add new folders in my root, then go to my main wordpress blog and create a page of the same name, goes to the folder versus the page. (little trick I learned)
Ohh I almost forgot, for your very first Group made.
Must go into /groups/name of group/admin/group-settings
Uncheck to disable: Enable discussion forum
Save
Check to enable: Enable discussion forum
Save
Just the first time need to do this, after that it appears to not have to when making a new group it then saves it.
The system is still requesting that themes be in /wp-content/bp-themes/ not the normal themes directory as instructed by the readme.
When I upgraded my test site disappeared. I can still login to the admin side but the front of my site is completely empty. Not sure what I am doing wrong but I don’t have much time to mess around with it yet so I will wait for the final version and just do an automatic upgrade.
I hope it’s finished soon! I need the profile fields update ASAP for a client!

@apeatling – Genius! My only suggestion would be:
1. Form the ZIP file with a plugins and themes folder. It seems a little more intuitive that way. This is a quibble … I know.
2. BuddyPress Social Network Parent Theme in the themes DIR seems a little messy and it appears it could lead to issues if it were deleted. Again, a quibble but one that cleans up the admin user experience.
Hey Buddy.. I mean, Andy (haha right?)
Update from beta to RC went smooth as butter for me. Took me literally less than 60 seconds to do. Nice.
I really really like the way the parent theme is organized, in folders, like “groups” and “blogs” … that just makes it SO easy to theme. Thanks!
You ROCK!!!
Hi Andy,
great job you’re doing! Thank you very much.
I’m testing 1.1 RC on a fresh install an have following problems / suggestions:
Where can a member, who gets a friend-request, answer the request?
As a member I cannot activate buddypress as my theme (get empty page).
In IE the title of the page is cut on the buddypress-pages. Top and bottom are missing.
Being in the admin-section of my member-blog, where ist the way back to the main page?
There should be a Link from buddy-press-profile to the dashboard and the other way round.
Greetings
Rita
It’s me again. Where can I delete a blog?
Either as the administrator of the site or as the blog-owner?
Thanks
Rita
@Andy & team,
just take your time to fix the few outstanding issues. No problem if the final BP1.1-release is getting delayed for a few days !
I had the release candidate working perfectly, but as soon as I installed bbPress, I’m now getting the “Cannot modify header information” error every time I try to post data in wp-admin. Has anyone figured this out yet?
Good job! On our upcoming site, we canned the whole setup and rebuilt it using the release candidate – it’s working perfectly, forums included. Very exciting stuff! Once I am more familiar with the codebase, I will look at getting more involved with Bp development, especially plugins and the like.
I just found out that the “Cannot modify header information” error goes away when I termporarily rename the bp-themes directory to something else. It’s not much of a fix, but it might point you in the right direction.
Apparently the bug is in the wp_redirect function:
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/erin/public_html/wordpress-mu/wp-includes/class.wp-styles.php:80) in /home/erin/public_html/wordpress-mu/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 865
Installation instructions?
Never mind. Found the readme.
Sorry… I take that back… I’m still having problems. I did a fresh install of WPMU with a fresh DB. No problems there. Then I downloaded the RC and placed the contents (bp-activity, bp-activity.php, etc.) inside wp-content/plugins/buddypress… and the plugin does not show up in admin area… so I cannot activate it.
David – did you install BP 1.0 before putting the RC in in the buddypress plugin folder? If not, you need to do that first.
Ahh. No. I started completely fresh. Thanks Ken. Maybe I missed that in the readme.
You don’t need to install BP 1.0 first.
wow, great job:
5 hours left on your own deadline and only 1 ticket left open…. cool timeline 😉
Thanks a lot to all BP-developers & contributors !
@ Andy. In that case, I’m stumped. Here are the steps I took.
1. Created a new virtual server on my Mac
2. Created a new MySQL Database
3. Successfully installed WPMU 2.8.4a
4. Downloaded BP 1.1 rc and placed the files (bp-activity/, bp-activity.php, etc.) inside wp-content/plugins/buddypress
5. Enabled the plugin menus in Site Admin > Options
6. Went to “Manage Plugins” and it says there are “no plugins to show”
I’m stumped. I’ve done this a bunch of times before without any problems. Maybe I’ll wait for 1.1 final (today?) and start fresh again.
Good luck with 1.1 release Andy!! 😀
Thanks very much for putting together this great site.
