Available today for developer testing is BuddyPress 1.5 Beta 3. We’re keeping our momentum going and squashed enough bugs in Beta 2 that we want to give it another trip around the block to make sure it’s solid.
If you are a BuddyPress plugin author, please take the time to test your plugins against the latest code and let us know if something isn’t working quite right. We have an extensive change-log for 1.5 and we want everyone to transition from 1.2 as painlessly as possible.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one… Please don’t run BuddyPress Beta software on your live production site. We know there will be quirks and we are keeping up with your bug reports as they come in. Install BuddyPress 1.5 on a local installation or a test site, and let us know if you find anything that isn’t working the way it should. The end of August is upon us, and we’re ramping up for a release in the coming days.
You can download BuddyPress 1.5 Beta 3 today, from the bottom of our Trac page.
Hi, super! Is there a changelog somewhere?
Can’t wait for this 🙂 I’m starting with huge project based on buddypress and i’m waiting only for buddypress 1.5 to start 🙂
Hey dude,
As promised on twitter, loving the updated roadmap!

I tweaked it a bit and couldn’t wait for it to be released as non-beta ^_^ tested a lot and now used it to launch my new site http://www.horizontea.com wich is a “production site”. I know it’s against the rules of the good behavior in terms of “avoid disasters” but also since we’re just starting It couldn’t be thaaaat harmful. Plus everyone tested it thoroughly and the few bugs/things we kinda fixed or asked for @boone ‘s help which was great and solved it in a second 🙂
So, to complete my previous comment, the work you’re doing and what you have already done is AMAZING. I couldn’t wait to use it on my site because its a hundred times better than the previous buddypress versions… thanks guys. I’ll svn-compare what I have with the beta3 files so that nothing gets “conflicted” but certainly will try this and use it in my project. 😉
Hi! First of all Congratulations! You´ve done a great job here.
Now, short question y don´t know where to drop.
What´s happening with define( ‘BP_DISABLE_ADMIN_BAR’, true ); ?
It´s leaving a white space on top of both front and back end.
Is there a way to remove that?
Thanks
Go hard! I can’t wait.
[…] 30, 20110 John James Jacoby emerged from the depths of code this morning (presumably) to post that BuddyPress 1.5 beta 3 is now available. In case you’re new to software betas, here’s briefly the way it works. […]
First Many Thanks for all this.
just to note 2 items.
1.5 beta 3 – 5070—wp 3.2.1
1) In bp 1.2.9 default theme in Forums- clicking New Topic brought up the “Post a new topic” and form ON TOP of the Group Forums Directory.
in bp 1.5 default theme in Forums – clicking New Topic brings up the “Create a new topic” and form BELOW the Group Forums Directory.
Is this change for a particular purpose ? The 1.2.9 way was excellent. Or have I messed up my installation ? other plugins ?
2) On another theme had to ALSO amend members/single/settings/general.php a la instructions for bp compatabilty. Could be just this particular theme or it might apply to all themes.
BuddyPress Registration Options 3.0.3 doesn’t work any more with this version.
I get these errors:
Warning: in_array() [function.in-array]: Wrong datatype for second argument in /home/…/public_html/test/wp-content/plugins/bp-registration-options/bp-registration-options.php on line 1594
Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_site_admin() in /home/…/public_html/test/wp-content/plugins/bp-registration-options/bp-registration-options.php on line 6
BP Columns theme could be used before to create left sidebar. It doesn’t work any more. Is there an other possibility to create a left sidebar to the new BP beta version?

cool.
If got some question. When will come the publish version of buddypress 1.5?
And will the publish version be bbpress2 comfortable?
I’m looking for a changelog as well.
hello!
I’ve long been following the development of buddypress. This chic plugin! That it’s time to start using it. I want to immediately start with version 1.5. But when activated result:
Warning: require(/var/www/tmblog/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/admin/bp-core-update.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/tmblog/wp-content/plugins/1.5-beta-3/bp-loader.php on line 82 Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required '/var/www/tmblog/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/admin/bp-core-update.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/tmblog/wp-content/plugins/1.5-beta-3/bp-loader.php on line 82
OS: Ubuntu server 11.04
WS: Cherokee 1.2.98
WP: 3.2.1
It looks like 1.5 Beta 2 used the WordPress admin bar styles, whereas Beta 3 is using its own – at least comparing bprest.org (still on Beta 2) to my local setup. Why the difference?
The changelog is in the readme on the trac page…

Activity streams don’t seem to be connected to anything. Maybe remove the ability to comment on people’s walls until the next version and said comments are routed back to the original forum or blog post?
think there’s a problem with notifications… dont get a notification showing up on my admin bar at the top when someone comments on an update i’ve put in…

hey i’m currently testing beta3
are you planning to embed pictures as well as videos are now??
Isn’t the menu supposed to be integrated into the wordpress menu? I’m still seeing the conventional buddypress menu.
@johnjamesjacoby To upgrade from Beta 2, just rewrite the old files with the new Beta 3 files, right?
I just installed the plugin on my multi-site.
Upon attempting to activate the plugin i get the following error
Warning: require(/domains/nul.nu/DEFAULT/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-wpabstraction.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /domains/nul.nu/DEFAULT/wp-content/plugins/1.5-beta-3/bp-loader.php on line 68
@intermike yes!
Working on my test server with WP 3.2.1 / trunk (rev 18625) 🙂
I’m curious about a changelog too. Will one be forthcoming?
