That BOOM! you just heard was the sound of BuddyPress 1.6 Release Candidate 1 dropping.
“Release Candidate” means that we think we’ve got the important bugs ironed out, and we’re on the cusp of releasing BuddyPress 1.6. If you’re a BuddyPress plugin or theme developer, this is your last chance to ensure BP 1.6 compatibility before release. If you’re involved in BuddyPress localization, you should do one last check that your language packs are up to date. And if you run a BuddyPress-powered site, consider running BP 1.6 RC1 in your development environments to help us identify any remaining issues.
As always, please report bugs on the support forums or at BuddyPress Trac. Get BP 1.6-RC1 from wordpress.org (zip).
Nice timing. I am hoping to get the main part of my site done this weekend wand was just thinking about my menus and how I would like to get BP in to finalize it. I will be testing this weekend. I was waiting for 1.6 to really get into trying to use BP.. are a lot of plugins not going to work yet?
There have been very few changes that would affect plugin compatibility.
Hi there,
I’m checking the translation with Codestyling Localization and now it says:
Warning: The actual loaded translation content contains mixed textdomains and is not pure translateable within one textdomain.
It seems, that there is code contained extracted out of other plugins, themes or widgets and used by copy & paste inside some source files.
The affected unknown textdomains are: tmggc
Maybe this causes caching issues in GlotPress?
Oh, nuts. This looks like it’s an epic fail on my part ๐
๐ oh I noted that translation never works when running the “update wizard”, though the strings are translated. I have some chaching issues sometimes so maybe is me.
We’ve just updated the 1.6-RC1 download. Please wait 10 minutes, and re-download. We’ve fixed the textdomain, thank you for reporting it so quickly ๐

Great ๐
Is a good time to ask in wppolyglots to create a 1.6 language branch, before the 1.7 dev starts?!
I reckon the best time is when we decide 1.6 is final, and are doing the last steps of the release. Just in case we make a string change and waste everyone’s time.
Some parts can’t get translated, i.e.
bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/admin.php Line 352
You’re saying that the translation doesn’t show up (but other translations do)? Does your .po/.mo contain that string?
Yes, everything is translated, I’m checking with Codestyling.
There is some echoing right after the
%s ago
string, still can’t find out what can be.Oh never mind, there are some translation issues going here for sure. But the wizard step by step never shows up translated to me.
Yep, i’m still having translation issues. Love buddypress a lot though.
Hello there!
I translated all from scratch, just now I’m really testing BP. The Install Wizard still doesn’t shows up translated (local install on WAMP, maybe a local issue).
I’m testing also bbPress, in BuddyPress > Forum tab, when clicking Configure Site Wide Forums button, the plugin install popup displaying the Fรณrum Settings page? Is that so? [img].
I will install BP online soon just to be sure about the Wizard.
Please report any bugs you find to https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org
I have multi blog enabled for BP in a multisite install. Have lot of sub sites. Is it possible to skip language packs for the main site? I only need translations for my subsite not my main site! Is it possible?
[…] here. We weren’t sure exactly when it would be released, but now we are closer than ever with RC1 out the door today. Time to fire up your BuddyPress development environments and start testing! […]
