In reply to: After Upgrading to 1.2.6 Having Footer Issues
Yep, we got it.
In reply to: Largest BP community site? The Pioneer Woman’s Tasty Kitchen probably is over that range. They don’t publicize numbers though.
In reply to: Buddypress roles“If I have multisite activated, do I need to search for some WPMU roles?”
MNope. They are the same, with one extra: Super Admin. They can do anything.
“Q1: Should we use WordPress or WordPressMU with BuddyPress?”
WPMU is now rolled in to single WP and called a Network of multiple sites, sometimes called multisite. You only need to enable it if you want multiple blogs(sites).
“Q2: Since we plan to launch “multiple social network websites” using BuddyPress, which one is better for our situation and why?”
If you have one install with multiple blogs, right now you can only install one instance of BuddyPress. It will show up on all the member sites, but share all the userbase.
“Q3: Will all sites be linked together if we use WordPressMU with buddyPress?”
I think I just answered this. Yes.
“Q4: Will using WordPressMU makes it easy to manage all sites?”
It’s one codebase, so yes.
“Q5: Will using WordPressMU allow us to de-link individual sites later and transfer to other people on different hosts or will it be a problem if we use MU?”
THe individual sites you can just use the Export menu to get all the posts.
The buddypress parts can’t be exported that way.
“Q6: What else should we consider when making the decision between WordPress and WordPressMU to use with BuddyPress for multiple sites?”
If you need multiple sites or not and if you want the userbase separate, and how likely you’ll need the buddypress parts moved to a different site.
“Q7: Will it be better just to use WPMU or WP with BuddyPress only for “one” site per account?”
Again, it depends on what you ultimately want. The network of sites are individual on one codebase. Buddypress affects the whole network.
In reply to: Some questions about BLOG POSTS in BP. Help please@ray – i’m thinking of the one under the Dashboard – My sites…
In reply to: Some questions about BLOG POSTS in BP. Help pleaseI think the “my blogs” link pulls blogs that the user is an *admin* on, not just ones they have any access level to.
In reply to: TwentyTen child theme for BuddyPressYou don;t need to create a child theme if you’ve downloaded one to use. And you need to keep the parent them there too.
Which theme did you want to use? TwentyTen? If you have the twentyten child theme I did, then activate that one. Leave the rest where they are.
In reply to: WordPress theme vs BuddyPress themeI only start with a child theme off the default BP theme, *if* the markup of the non bp-areas (blog pages, etc) is close to what I want in the end.
In reply to: Selling your items added for members blogs?wp e-coomerce runs with multiple blogs, yes. the getshopped site runs MU.
Or you coudl go as simple as an of the paypal button plugins.

“You made a BP child theme to a theme that is not BP compatible?”
Yes. I made a child theme and added the BP capabilities. Which was one of the options Paul mentioned above.
Yeah I sent some suggestions.
In reply to: Basic footer99% of the wordpress themes out there are gpl. snag away.
In reply to: TwentyTen child theme for BuddyPress@alanchrishughes I built mine as a child theme of Twentyten, not the bp default.

@thekmen – let;s compare code & I’ll get it rolled in to the ticket. https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2382
In reply to: Secure Invites for MuThe mu-plugins folder is still supported in 3.0.
But, the plugin still looks like it needs fixing.
In reply to: A question for theme designers“Why don’t you use the perfect add_custom_background(); for wp 3.0, just translate it to work from the frontend?”
Because the function, when you add it to themes, is one line. then is uses core code to do the rest.
He’d have to rewrite it entirely anyway.
In reply to: TwentyTen child theme for BuddyPressIn the footer.php file, which twentyten does have.
Strange it’s not showing though.
In reply to: Blogger style bar on all blogsWon’t the buddypress admin bar show up across all sites?
In reply to: Where are all my blogs?Wasn’t this an older issue with BP where it wouldn’t find some blogs that existed before BP was activated?
In reply to: TwentyTen child theme for BuddyPressYou didn’t need to do all that work if all you really wanted was the admin bar on all sites across the network. the user blogs do no need a buddypress theme. the admin bar should show across all sites anyway.
In reply to: TwentyTen child theme for BuddyPressYeah, that’s a styling issue I’ll have to fix.

Add this to the stylesheet:
ul.item-list li {
clear:both;
}In reply to: New users can’t registerI just signed up to your site. Worked for me. even got to the “hey, lookit your nice avatar!” page.

One thing I noticed – there’s not bp admin bar, no links in the menu, no indication anywhere about any BP areas.
As a new user, I’d have no idea where to go next.
But, then I did get my activation email, as I requested a blog as well. So, then I do see the admin bar when logged in. *phew*. So far, no errors though.
In reply to: Forum ConductIs it chocolate cake?
Also! Free hugs.
In reply to: BP needs to Focus on Child Themes“Getting premium and other theme developers on board with BP is the only way it will reach the level of success BP deserves. “
One premium theme shop currently selling WordPress themes outright is alreayd on board with BP themes. Another is right behind.
In reply to: WP Theme Conversion TutorialI have updates for it too – currently it’s tossing a 404 when the activity stream is set to the front page under Settings -> Reading.
If we collab on it, we both get props.
In reply to: WP Theme Conversion Tutorial@thekmen you know there’s a trac ticket for twentyten to be included with BuddyPress?
