I did, and I have my own post.
In reply to: Maybe someone could check the theme? Also, when submitting themes, there’s a HUGE checklist on the themes submissions page. Make sure you tackle each item. If you skip a bunch, then the reviews know you didn’t read that page.
In reply to: Limmitng User Acess to Group UpdatesIf they’re already using a child theme, they can just add it to that file.
In reply to: Limmitng User Acess to Group UpdatesNot sure you need to create whole child theme just for that.

there’s enough hooks everywhere you should just be able to hook that function before what you want.
Yes, that looks correct. But the only change related to image location, it wouldn’t have knocked out the blogs themselves.
Often when you move to a new server, either the htaccess file gets left behind (it’s a hidden file remember) or the new server isn’t reading it.
Ask your webhost. tell them you have an htaccess file that isn’t getting read.
In reply to: Is bp dying a slow death?Just a note to say you don’t have to be a coder to participate in dev chats.
Want a say? hop into the dev chat, that’s the place to hammer out things like where the development is headed. And the main devs need a break too. Often, they were plowing through trac & dev and the forums here faster and more often than the main dev of wordpress. Slowing down does not mean dying.
It means they get tired. Tired devs make mistakes. they also have a big job – half the users want faster dev, the other half doesn’t. Vocal people want this change, two months later, more vocal people want the last change ripped out. See the problem there?Do you want the devs to dev or just get pulled all over by lots of forum threads?

So. Without trying to speak for Andy or JJ or channel Jane too much, grabbing a shovel means get dirty. And like I said at the start, there’s more to do than just code. Want to influence development? Show up at the dev chat. Hammer out the details for what’s next (baby steps). Roll up your sleeves. Give them a chance to breathe and think long term beyond putting out fires.
non-code ways to help:
– post tutorials in the main blog or your own
– help new users
– if you’re answering the same things all the time here in the forum, write it up in a codex page. Point people to that.
– test plugins
– submit trac ticket or comment on exisiting ones, even to say “yeah it broke for me too” or “I can’t reproduce this”
– say thanksAlso, it’s nice outside. Play a round of golf, cuddle a puppy. There is actually more to life than code.
(and yes, I make living from this code – my mortage depends on it.
)Much love for all,
meIn reply to: Integrate with WordPress? If your blog is at wordpress.COM you can’t install plugins.
Check your htaccess file. I’m guessing it’s missing or not being read by the server.
In reply to: TwentyTen child theme for BuddyPressI just fixed this last night. Go redownload it and try it. Install it in the theme folder and it should be fine.
In reply to: TwentyTen child theme for BuddyPressI’m owrking on this again tonight and have hit the headdesk part.
Brand new install, 3.0, network enabled. I added the BP template pack plugin and set it up on the default theme with the latest version of BP. Looks flawless, no child theme needed.
Local install: was mu, upgraded to 3.0. upgraded BP & the template pack plugin. Set it up on a secondary blog on the site.
It borked.
Reselected the theme, that was better. At least the admin bar was in the right spot. Now all it will show is the Members page when I click any link. *sigh*.
so! Anyone desperately waiting, please try the BP template pack plugin first. If it works for you, AWESOME. If not, hang on.
In reply to: TwentyTen child theme for BuddyPressI’ll give it another go hopefully over the weekend.
And you have to update your rewrite rules like the message says. Just look in htaccess for the /wp-content/blogs.php text and change it to wp-includes/ms-files.php.
this control serving the uploads so you kinda need to do ti.
more extensive post coming out tomorrow on wpmututorials.com
In reply to: Buddypress version of wordpress ‘mystique’ theme? Can someone just upload the zip somewhere?
Or just password protect the entire /wp-admin/ dir from the server level.
In reply to: Simple WP Community ThemeDo you have a demo site or a page somewhere users can go for support or more info?
In reply to: Why WordPress + BuddyPress is going to suck!Hmmm. I’ve seen other people waiting for the merge to use BuddyPress. Works fine on single WP already. Like JJJ said, it’s not for everyone.
Neither is running a Network.
It’s not obvious to enable for single WP users. They still need all the same knowledge they did before. The install process (to me anyway) actually now has *more* steps, since you have to install WP first, then enable the network. In reply to: register for multiple blogsGet this plugin:

In reply to: How to use BuddyPress in “wordpress.com” blog ?“What access if any does wordpress.com give to plugins.”
None whatsoever.
In reply to: Permalinks and BP Single with WP 3.0 beta 2If the live server doesn’t have mod_rewrite actually working or reading the htaccess file, then no, none of the permalinks work – BuddyPress or not.
AllowOverride FileInfo Options has to be in the vhost in httpd.conf for the acount.
No, he means you installed mu in the /Case_study/ folder instead of the root. As in, right at /.
Did you find anywhere in your googling where a blank page means php errors and you should check your error logs?
In reply to: Alternative to Facebook“1) They tried to add on to WordPress, a project which was not designed from the ground up to be a distributed network.”
okay, here’s what I don’t get – isn’t MU a distributed network?
In reply to: WP-United: BBpress alternative?@dennish – you do realize WPMU is now merged with single WP?
And I’d like to counter that the dev (Donncha) was absent for up to a year. Many, many times development was delayed simply because of feedback from the userbase.
The latest WPMU version is 2.9.2 – which is absolutely current with the latest WP version. Why you were locked in to using 2.5 is beyond me.
Blank page = errors, every single time. Please check your error logs. if you don’t know what they are or where they are, ask your webhost.
