In reply to: Multiple language community
I think you meant WPML, not WPMU.
In reply to: Hosting PDF’s on my BP siteIt should be tossing them in the same uploads folders as your images. In single WP it’s wp-content/uploads/ then sorted by year/month folders.
In reply to: Performance issues – related to number of usersI meant how much RAM do you have on the whole box? Or in your vps account?
In reply to: I’ve got a worm.Awesome follow-up Greg.
Hope you manage to block it.In reply to: Performance issues – related to number of usersHow much RAM?
“BuddyPress – Version 1.1.3”
Also, you shoudl upgrade. I believe there’s been significant improvements since this version.
In reply to: I’ve got a worm.@gregfeilding time to dig in the access logs. see if you can find the dates on the extra files, or on the changed files & cross-check them with the access logs at the same time.
I do know of someone who got hacked via *Windows* which them infected his installs via his ftp program. most of the hacks fo this type that I have seen haven;t been via any wordPress files, but the box itself or hacking the ftp password. Use sftp instead.
In reply to: Regular wp theme to a buddypress theme?“how would i fix it my template has a extra tag and i don’t know whether to change it to sidebar, or just add it,”
Take those extra tags from your theme template files, add them in the right spots in your buddypress templates files that have just been added to your theme.
In reply to: 403 wpmu-edit.php Site Admin Update Optionsis that file also on your server? (wp-settings.php)?
This is basic troubleshooting.
I’m just reading the message you supplied. In reply to: 403 wpmu-edit.php Site Admin Update OptionsSo what’s in your wp-config.php file on line 113?
In reply to: I’ve got a worm.added: fairly common now
https://wordpress.org/search/hacked+theme+files?forums=1In reply to: I’ve got a worm.hnla – there’s a hack going aroudn where they inject code in clean themes & files.
Greg – to clean this up is going to take a bit of time. You have to remove all the files and replace them with clean fresh ones. get a new zip of mu, new zips of your themes, etc…
Before you do that, change every single password you have. Hacks like this they either lift your ftp password or they got into the box (server) itself.
In reply to: Must log-in to see any page“However, google has indexed my site “
And login to the backend of your main blog, go to Settings -> Privacy and check the box so google doesn’t index your site.
In reply to: Multiple Budypress Networks, one installWe’ve alreayd figured out how to do it, like I said above.
““* Members will have to fill in their profile details for each site. I believe that’s the case… unless that can be shared, too?”
The point is to have it *not* shared.“* Each sub-domain would have to be upgraded separately””
No, they will not. One install, one plugin, one upgrade.“So being that there is a field when adding content to the activity_meta which includes the blog number (usally 1), and there is an option in the activity table to ‘hide_sitewide’, what needs to happen to make it work across blogs.”
No, not blog_id. the relevant portion is site_id.
In reply to: Regular wp theme to a buddypress theme?Well, with just “they are messed up” to go on, it’s kind of hard to give specific help.

Got a link?In reply to: What Buddypress & WordPress blogs do you follow?wpmututorials.com
Disclaimer: It’s my blog.
But, also Ron’s blog, and he’s wpmuguru who has been actually working on the merge. Also, wptavern is an *excellent* resource for any new in the WP world.
@Annointed – I had the same issues, but 1.2.3 works on the beta.
In reply to: Multiple Budypress Networks, one installIn reply to: Multiple Budypress Networks, one install@boone In theory

@r-a-y and that is the big question. Also, that doesn’t take existing mu installs into account.
like I mentioned in chat, even if the bare minimum in core was a function to hook into so a further plugin could do the bulk of the work, that’d be awesome.
But the brainy programmer guys have to figure that bit out.
In reply to: Here come the spammers!!!And this would specifically deal with spam from actual users who have managed to sign up and and now using the internal messaging system to spam, correct?
And not spam signups, spam blog. Just to clarify.
In reply to: move from wp to wpmuFor someone in that much of a hurry
I woudl have just upgraded the WP to the beta of 3.0. Less work involved, less breakage (potentially)But, since you alreayd made the move, just go over these steps:
http://bavatuesdays.com/importing-a-single-wp-blog-to-a-wpmu-installation/@sadr – the forums part from bbpress that is in buddypress is a very stripped down version of bbprerss.
If you want a forum, then use forum software. I mentioned it because I in particular, am having to deal with a LOT of new users to BuddyPress who were told it was a forum (for whatever reason) and are expecting traditional forum-like behaviour.
And right now, that is definitely an issue.
Just stepping in with a recent observation that I am not sure how to address.
in looking aroudn and watching tweets & blog posts elsewhere about newcomers to the platform, someone somewhere started referring to it as a FORUM.
It is not.
And newcomers expecting a forum-like interface and usage are the ones I see struggling the most. Whether it’s being confused with bbpress (the name) in general, I dunno. But it might make a bit more sense and be less painful to regulars if we could start stressing that is is not a forum, it’s a social networking add-on for WordPress. Not separate (man, I am not impressed with the auto-install script…), and outside of anything that’s been done before.
In reply to: Teach Brendan How to Drive Buddypress!“Would it be easier to bite the bullet now and set up WPMU now so that later I can offer blog functionality? “
WPMU is being merged in with the next version of WordPress. You’ll be able to enable it fairly easily. So, start with WordPress.
“I’ve had a BIG respon$e to my first tweets about the idea and people want in on my project, but alas, I’m no tech geek!!! So I have customers but no website, lol!”
Then my best advice would be to hire someone to build it for you.

They used BBpress *outside* of BuddyPress.
In reply to: How can users add a new post in buddypress? The “blogs” menu options only shows up if you have member blogs when using MU.
Blogs are not posts.
