    Great! I would love to use this plugin on my community!

    I thought about this as well.. I think we could use a unique symbol (! is pretty good indeed) and attach that to a groupname or groupID (for longer Group names).

    The reason why I think this could be very cool if you’d combine it with the TweetStream plugin.

    I image it working like this:

    User syncs his profile with Twitter through TweetStream. Then makes a post from his mobile phone/twitter app:

    “!buddypress this is a status update for the group “buddypress” on my BP site”

    The tweet gets converted to a status update for the group BuddyPress and voila, you can post updates to your groups through twitter from everywhere!

    @marius I also agree with this.. But there is a difference between a “paywall” and a closed beta for subscribers (which Brajesh is doing). He’s testing the plugin with a bunch of people who are willing to take the risk to become one of the early adapters. To support him in his efforts I decided to spend 30$ because I feel that the author of such a huge plugin should be rewarded, but that does not mean I want the plugin to remain for subscribers only and that’s not what’s happening, so I do not get the accusations of foxly, that was my point :)

    @Foxly: I honestly don’t understand why you feel the need to be so overly critical to someone else his work without being properly informed. For me it’s quite obvious that we’re all working on the same goal here; Making BuddyPress better.

    You claim to do this for the community but somehow you are throwing with number of downloads and are telling how much better your just released (first?) plugin is then BP-Gallery.. Brajesh has been helping people on BP.org for many monhts, and has released nummerous themes and plugins for free, so I think that your direct attack on his efforts and motives is pretty uncalled for to say the least..

    ps: I don’t want DJPaul to ban me, so I will stay out of this thread from now on :)

    1: There are 2 plugins for this: BP Album and BP Gallery (paid)

    3: Jeff Sayre is working on the BuddyPress Privacy Componennt: http://jeffsayre.com/buddypress/

    5: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-restrict-group-creation/

    6: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-ajax-chat and many 3rd party options

    9&10: Check the Welcome Pack plugin from DJPaul https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/welcome-pack/

    I agree with you both, but Brajesh already said that BP-Gallery will be released for the public after the initial testing stages.. His initivave was not release a commercial plugin perse, and the 30$ gives you access to some of his plugins and the Gallery beta + support. So there is no “paywall” for this plugin in the future :)

    I’m personally going for BP Gallery from Brajesh.. I have a lot of faith in this plugin and since it’s such an important aspect of my community I can’t take any chances when it comes to support of the plugin. I’m happy to pay 30$ for support and a guarantee of continued support, and so far the plugin is shaping up amazingly. I like BP Album (installed it today on my local server) but I rather have a more fully featured media plugin, and BP Gallery does exactly that :)

    I would love to use the myreviewplugin for the new BP-Tricks site.. not for review but to let others know how hard it is to implement.. It would be cool if the plugin was completely integrated with BuddyPress that would make it a must have!

    This is amazing, just what I was looking for! I’ll be installing this tomorrow and let you know if I have any suggestions.. If I understand correctly you can now set:

    – Widgets

    – Plugins (+ Settings)

    – Standard Pages + Articles

    – Permalink settings, Comments settings etc

    That’s already amazing and I think that’s all I need really.. If I think of anything I’ll let you know :D

    If you install BuddyPress you’re blog will remain the main blog and all your posts/authors/categories etc are still there.. It does not remove your existing blog, it simply adds social network functions to them!

    Your WordPress theme can’t be used though, so you’ll might need to change the standard BP theme to fit your needs by creating a Child Theme.

    I’m no css expert, but I thought the activity stream was really really really easy to modify.. you only need to tweak a few classes/id’s to get it to look quite a bit different.. So I can’t imagine an easier way to do it tbh

    you should copy the code directly from header.php:

    Here’s the div with the code

    [snip]

    That should work fine if you’re using it for a theme which is buddypress ready/compatbile (which I presume it is :)). If you’re copying it into a normal WP theme without BP installed you get errors :)

    LOL… Seriously dude: YES.. Y-E-S..

    Definition of Yes:

    Yes: It is so; as you say or ask. Used to express affirmation, agreement, positive confirmation, or consent.

    n. pl. yes·es

    1. An affirmative or consenting reply.

    2. An affirmative vote or voter.

    tr.v. yessed, yes·sing, yes·es

    To give an affirmative reply to.

    interj.

    Used to express great satisfaction, approval, or happiness.

    Like Ray says: If you have a child theme, simply copy over /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/footer.php to your child theme and modify to your liking.

    Widget logic works fine using the BP conditional tags on 1.2 :) atleast for me!

    Woops.. forgot to mention that.. forgive me I was still hungover ;)

    Mmm very original.. I’ve currently done this by modifying the templates and changing divs, but this is a better approach me thinks! Nice :)

    I’m also would like to donate, this plugin is amazing.. PayPal details please :D

    @bowromir

    This is not possible.. If you want to add new functions simply make it a new child theme and if you want to switch looks integrate a style switches in the theme backend or frontend :)

    @bowromir

    Making it fixed is really easy..

    1: Open up default.css (_inc/css/default.css) and right at the first few lines under the “body” selector change this:

    min-width: 960px;

    max-width: 1250px;

    to this

    min-width: 960px;

    max-width: 960px;

    Now open up adminbar.css and do the same.. done!
