Here’s the code for a sub menu on the right side of the header with subnavigation:
Header.php
<div class="navwrap">
<ul id="dropmenu">

</ul>

}
#dropmenu li:hover ul,#dropmenu li li:hover ul,#dropmenu li li li:hover ul,#dropmenu li li li li:hover ul {
display:block;
}Finally some javascript that you can put in your footer for some nice effects:
<script type='text/javascript'>
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
jQuery("#dropmenu ul").css({display: "none"}); // Opera Fix
jQuery("#dropmenu li").hover(function(){
jQuery(this).find('ul:first').css({visibility: "visible",display: "none"}).show(268);
},function(){
jQuery(this).find('ul:first').css({visibility: "hidden"});
});
});
</script>You should tweak the .css and remove some unneeded images/padding/margin etc. Good luck dude!
In reply to: BuddyPress MultilingualOk I’ve installed the latest update.. Everything seems to be running fine, but I’m having trouble with settings this up.. What are the steps I need to take?
I’m having a custom child theme with BP 1.2 and WPMU btw.
1: Installed the plugin, and enable the languages I would like to use.
2: Add .mo files to a certain folder? How can BP be translated automatically? I don’t really get this

3: Translate my Theme.. (I think I get this)
4: Translate my pages/posts (This works fine, no problem here)
A Step by Step setup guide would be really helpful, I feel a bit lost in WPML
In reply to: BuddyPress MultilingualHi Jozik,
That’s very good news! I haven’t tried WPML for BuddyPress yet (I only started using BP from 1.1, and WPML did not work for me then), but it’s critical for my upcoming project.
What I “need” from the plugin is the following:
1: A way to let the user switch languages globally. So if he or she is Spanish, she can set the language to Spanish and BuddyPress + theme strings are in Spanish. This seems the exact point of the plugin, so that should be possible I guess?

2: Allow the user to view blogs in the WPMU network in their language (navigation elements and widgets etc).
3: Maybe some kind of automatic detection of the browser language, so the site is in the right language on the first visit.
4: A way to let my moderators/authors add/edit strings in the backend (I think WPML allows this as well, but I’m new to the plugin, so forgive me
).I’m looking forward to it, and if you need/accept donations just let me know, I’m happy to contribute!
Take care,
Bowe
In reply to: bp-events updateNot to be rude or anything, but should we (the community) see if we can find another developer for this? I’m willing to donate to get this going, and with so much working already done by Erwin (thank you for that!) shouldnt we try and get a developer on board.
I can’t really tell if you have a problem with this Erwin, and if your remark “your free to do whatever you like” is actually serious or more meant as a defense to people complaining about wanting to get the plugin RIGHT NOW FFS (lol?).
If you look at the amount of progress the two BP-Album+ guys made in two weeks I’m sure BP-Events could kick some serious butt with an extra developer.. I think this is a core feature which should be out sooner then later. I’ll ask the developers I speak regularly (all three of them) if they are interested in this, because it’s kind of a waste to let this lay around for months.. agreed?
In reply to: Badge Maker@greg I would love to see this… So make that 9 (counting verty411 and me)
Here is my Sidebar which does exactly what you want: Show different sidebars on different BP sections of the site.. It does not work 100% (blog sidebar does not show up yet) but it should get you started. You use BP conditional tags to show/hide the different sidebars depending where the user is on the site:
<?php do_action( 'bp_before_sidebar' ) ?>
<div id="sidebar">
<div class="padder2">
<?php
locate_template( array( 'accordeon.php' ), true );
?>
<?php do_action( 'bp_inside_before_sidebar' ) ?>
<?php if ( is_user_logged_in() ) : ?>
<?php do_action( 'bp_before_sidebar_me' ) ?>
<?php endif; ?>
<?php /* Show forum tags on the forums directory */
if ( BP_FORUMS_SLUG == bp_current_component() && bp_is_directory() ) : ?>
<div id="forum-directory-tags" class="widget tags">
<h3 class="widgettitle"><?php _e( 'Forum Topic Tags', 'buddypress' ) ?></h3>
<?php if ( function_exists('bp_forums_tag_heat_map') ) : ?>
<div id="tag-text"><?php bp_forums_tag_heat_map(); ?></div>
<?php endif; ?>
</div>
<?php endif; ?>
<div class="padder3">
<?php if(bp_is_group()){
if(!dynamic_sidebar("Group Sidebar")){?>
<?php }
}
else if(bp_is_member()){
if(!dynamic_sidebar("Profile Sidebar")){ //if user profile etc
?>
<?php
}
}
else if(bp_is_blog_page() || bp_is_directory()){
if(!dynamic_sidebar("Blog Sidebar")){?>
<?php } }
else dynamic_sidebar( 'Sidebar' )?>
<?php dynamic_sidebar( 'sidebar' ) ?>
</div>
<?php do_action( 'bp_inside_after_sidebar' ) ?>

}In reply to: Welcome Pack enabled but doesn't seem to workPaul.
I’m using WPMU 2.9 and the latest BP 1.2 release.. When I enable your plugin and sign up a new user the registration process goes fine, but no emails are sent out and thus registration is not possible. When I disable the plugin the registration emails do arrive, so something bad must happen somewhere.. I’ll try to pindown the problem
In reply to: Cannot get to registration pageHave you tried to turn on users signups in your admin panel?
Site Admin >> Options >> Allow new registrations
In reply to: Configuring W3 Total Cache with BuddyPressDatabase caching seems to work fine for me as well.. So I’ll try and experiment with the page cache. since BuddyPress is highly dynamic, most parts can not be cached very wel.. But I imagine caching the directory pages for 10 mins could prove useful? I don’t know how much that’ll help though
In reply to: BP GroupBlog, P2 ready (with bugs)! Please review…First note: AWESOMEMILICIOUS!
2nd note: Posting new blogposts works great! I can add new posts/photos and videos on the blog page and you get a nice growl like notification when you post something.. This is some serious next level stuff!
The magazine theme layout looks cool, but I feel it’s bit overwhelming for certain users. especially on lower resolutions I feels a bit crammed, with the 3 column recent posts, etc. But I think that’s something personal, and you already said that you’re working on different layouts. I’ve tried to view a different layout in my blog, but could not find the settings. But my suggestion for a third theme would be:
http://emberapp.com/bowromir/images/untitled-8/sizes/o
This is quite simple but powerful enough.. I don’t know if you can add custom text boxes/widgets, but I think that would allow user to be creative with their blog. I forgot to offer a search/archive widget, but that would be handy as well.
3rd note: To avoid confusion I would probably rename Status Update in the groupblog to something like News Update or Blog Update, so that it does not get mixed up with a status/activity update in BuddyPress. To be honest I think that the P2 status update does not add much to it, because a group admin can easily post a status update in the group itself. I understand it’s a added feature in the P2 theme, but I think BP handles it very well.. This is also something personal though

4th: Maybe allow the user to switch to a full markup mode or tiny editor to have more control over longer posts. You already mentioned bringing everything to the front end, but maybe you can solve this by opening a lightbox with the full featured posting of the WP backed (and then remove the navigation in the admin, so the users only sees the posting area). This might be complicated and/ore messy, but it would make for a better user experience.
I’m really really impressed with the current plugin so far and I can’t wait to try it on my site. Thanks so much for sharing this Marius and the rest of YWAM!
In reply to: BP Album+ || New Features Requests and DiscussionI have a feature request; Allow the storage of photos on a CDN provider. You already mentioned the potential memory/performance issues and I think a CDN solution for more “serious” communities could solve this problem. You could take a look at the W3 Total Cache plugin who has a robust and full featured CDN option in it’s plugin.
Have you enabled the login widget ? That should do the trick.. If you want to put the button somewhere manually check out the pluging documentation:
In reply to: Group Types & RolesSounds great, I would love to see something like this added
It works great for me as well, with the proper usernames and fetching of emails. Thanks again Justin, hope you receive some more donations for all your hard work!
In reply to: Custom Group PagesI would love to have a custom banner upload or some basic CSS settings to be changed (text color or something?)
Man I’m so glad this plugin arrived.. Delaying my project for a few months has been working out amazingly thanks to 1.2, BP-Gallery, This plugin and a ton of other cool stuff coming out,. Great
In reply to: Supporting Devs & wishlistOk then I can scratch that of my list.. lol
Sounds awesome Andy
In reply to: Supporting Devs & wishlistI’m very intertested in doing this, and I’ve been working on this for the new BP-Tricks site.. I’ll send you a private message with some more details, because I think we are both wanting to do the same; set up a place where plugin suggestions can be made and plugin ideas can get adopted by developers.
It works flawlessy! And to make it even more awesome the author Justin Klein will also make an adjustment for us BuddyPress so that email adresses get mapped automatically to the BP profile (without asking permission first). So updates/notifications and/or welcome messages (through the Welcome Pack from DJPaul) are now covered.
I can’t tell how happy I am with this. The next step is to add fetching of avatars and profile info mapping to the list, but for now I’m more then pleased. I pointed the developer to this thread so maybe he will chip in
ow and.. please donate if you like this.. seriously.. we get so much awesome stuff but every dev I speak hardly get’s any donations
I don’t get what you mean? You can let the BP-Links developer adept his plugin to do exactly what you need.. that’s all I’m saying
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastSure.. just go to your admin panel and then buddypress > bp-links > manage categories
In reply to: Badge Maker+1
You should check out bp-links before you decide to hire a developer and ask mrmaz for some custom work to be made to his already awesome plugin. It does almost everything you need!
