Ok I’ve installed the plugin, and I really like it! It works well, and it’s easy to use! Thanks again Warut! Some small improvements you could make:

1: Make the xprofile field names strong instead of normal in the badge. Right now you have:

    Name: Admin

    better would be:

    name: admin

2: Add an CSS option to control the color of the xprofile field names. So you can give them a matching color.

3: Personally I would like to keep my navigation menu clean, so I menu item for the badge maker page, is not really needed. I would rather have the button/link to the badge create page here:

    http://emberapp.com/bowromir/images/untitled-9/sizes/o

Because in the future I might add several plugins, the profile navigation might become very busy and the badge maker is not “important” enough to put in the menu. Maybe this can be a admin option?

That’s about it for now :) thanks for making this!

I would love to download and test this, but that 2shared site is driving me crazy.. Could you please upload it to rapidshare, zshare or host it on your server.. That 2shared service is beyond retarded.. pop-ups, ads and download limits for no reason arrgh :D

Btw.. could you tell us/me a little bit more how you raise the money for the charities? I think it’s a pretty cool concept, but have no idea how it works in detail?

I’ve signed up because I like the charity aspect which you made for the site. I’m looking for ways to promote charities for my project aswell, and I really like that you can support charities and show them through your profile. I also like the profile page very much, and the overall design. Good job, and cool idea!

    Check this out:

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-profile-widget-for-blogs/

That does what you want, but you can take a look at the code to modify it for your specific needs..

Yes!! Awesome :D Thank you so much :)

The only benefit is that you can let your users create fully featured wordpress blogs. If you do not need/want that, there is no benefit :)

I have to agree with conschneider…This is one amazing plugin to expand upon.. The plugin author really likes BuddyPress and I think some amazing things can be done combining them. I’m working on a list of features I would like to see for BuddyPress, and I’m planning to make a donation to the author with the feature requests. If you are interested and would like to see certain features added, post them here or contact me.. I’m not the wealthiest person, so if anyone wants to chip in and would like to see certain features developed, this is the time to do it :)

I would not recommend this Greg.. While it might look fine on your screen, don’t forget that many users are still using a screen resolution of 1024×768. So you have to deduct more then 200 pixels on the main content area, and you’ll see that your site will look pretty weird and crammed.

I think it’s better to create a horizontal featured slider above the main activity stream for example. This is certainly possible, and I hope to provide a tutorial for it pretty soon.. I’ve got it working on a local site, but need to finetune it a bit. It uses jQuery Tools, so that hopefully answers your question in the other thread as well :)

It’s not been made yet.. but it would be great if someone made it :) I think you should have a box on your profile page. I’ve made an example of how it could look an a profile page (the initial badge creation box like on facebook).

    http://emberapp.com/bowromir/images/untitled-9/sizes/o

Colors are a bit bright, but it should give you an idea.. If you user clicks on “edit this badge” he should be able to choose which profile fields he who like to show.. I hope this helps :)

Ah great Dwenaus! Have you been able to look at the link structure? So that you can filter groups by URL? For example https://buddypress.org/groups=plugins.

This is a great plugin :)

Great that you are willing to pick this up (if everything goes to plan). About your plans with a Media plugin.. I like it, but to be honest besides BP Album+ we also have BP-Gallery from Brajesh (buddydev.com) which already does photo/video and audio quite well (it will be released to the public in the upcoming months). So while I encourage all development, you might take a look at things that haven’t been done at all.. :)

Ok I’ve got everything running.. But there is a problem with the activity stream. Because updates get posted in the language of the current user, you get a very weird activity stream. You get activity stream updates in different languages all mixed up. Example:

    http://emberapp.com/bowromir/images/firefox-17

    Can this be fixed?

No you should indeed have a profile created for you automatically.. It should be a regular BP profile with all the functions BP has to offer. Could you check out the following:

When you go to the members page on your install.. you should see the user who are logged in/signed up through facebook. Now go to one of those members and check the url to their profile (mouseover the username if you use firefox or with IE right click > properties). You should see a username without spaces like mysite.com/members/bowe. If you see spaces or a a long list of numbers, your plugin is not configured correct.

    Let me know :)

Are you sure that you have the right plugin? Its called wp-fb autoconnect, and its from justin klein. It should create a login for facebook and you can configure it on the wp-admin/settings page. It works great on my install and you dont have to do any special stuff to got it working, no idea why you say stuff like that peter…

Check the settings page of wp-fb connect, you should tick a box which enables some buddypress stuff and fixes the problem with usernames.

best solution I’ve found for a member based (subscription type) plugin is the new S2Member plugin.. It’s very well documented and free :)

You should try the oEmbed plugin! It automatically allows you to insert videos from youtube/vimeo and others by simply putting in the URL.

    :)

I think you should contact your webhost and ask why you receive an internal server error when you configure your server to use php5.. This is more something you should try to solve with your host, and not something plugin or BuddyPress related :)

You should have a WordPress account and then go to:

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add/

Submit your plugin, and it will get added to the repository after it has been approved.. this will take a short while :)

I think it’s a very usefull feature.. It allows for quick posting of updates in a certain group through the homepage/activity page.. I would not remove it :)
