Thanks @bphelp for the post, I want to add some news here :p

Buddypress Activity privacy 1.0.3 is out now, i was add some integration to make it work with others plugins like buddypress Follow and Buddypress Activity Plus.

I Hope this integrations, will make happy many users of this two plugins :P.

Sure @bphelp, here is the link https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-media/. They also have some pro add-ons like video, tagged. I deleted this plugin a few months ago but at this momment they are updating it frequently and have great support.

i’m not sure of what you exactly want, but here’s something who gives you a header menu based on text links who leading to the expected member part. The example given here works on bp-default 1.6.4 (may also work on previous versions)

hidding things with CSS is not best practice, even if it works. The button is still on the page. Display:none just hide it from visitors. But the code stays in place.
