Just updated Private Community For BP to 3.5 you can now unblock your posts as well as pages. In reply to: Registrations don’t work@hnla @mercime
I am really starting to think we need to just put up a codex page that addresses this issue and links the users to it since it seems to be a consistent issue. The same with users wanting to see the registration page when they are logged in which is not default behavior. I find myself answering the same issues a lot of times and I think we should nip it in the bud decisively. Thanks to you both!@jschodde
This plugin is not tagged BuddyPress so I think it would be more appropriate to post it on the authors support forum here:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/better-wp-security
Maybe ask the author to update it for use with BP and tag it appropriately afterwards. In reply to: Feature request: Hide certain members@merosler
If your adding php code I hope you have made a child theme as @philipstancil did because that is the proper way. I would never add custom code to a parent theme’s functions.php because if you update the theme then it may get overwritten. Anyway, make sure whenever you add code to functions.php it always needs to be between opening and closing php tags like this:<?php // Remove admin from directory add_action('bp_ajax_querystring','bpdev_exclude_users',20,2); function bpdev_exclude_users($qs=false,$object=false){ //list of users to exclude $excluded_user='1';//comma separated ids of users whom you want to exclude if($object!='members')//hide for members only return $qs; $args=wp_parse_args($qs); //check if we are listing friends?, do not exclude in this case if(!empty($args['user_id'])) return $qs; if(!empty($args['exclude'])) $args['exclude']=$args['exclude'].','.$excluded_user; else $args['exclude']=$excluded_user; $qs=build_query($args); return $qs; } //Remove admin from member count add_filter('bp_get_total_member_count','bpdev_members_correct_count'); function bpdev_members_correct_count($count){ $excluded_users_count=1; //change it to the number of users you want to exclude return $count-$excluded_users_count; } ?>In reply to: Registration page not working@grmadmin
It makes no logical since to view the registration if you already have the credentials to be logged in. That is default behavior. Instead of using another computer to check it why not just use a different browser on the same computer? Alternatively you could use the same browser by using firefox’s private window or chromes incognito window. In reply to: [Resolved] Install wizard@grmadmin
As of BP 1.7 thru 1.8+ there is no install wizard. You just activate it and configure the components in dashboard/settings/buddypress/components. Are you using a different version below BP 1.7?In reply to: BuddyPress won’t install@parmkals
As @ubernaut stated I would FTP BuddyPress because if you do not have access to the php.ini then you can not change it and it may hang when downloading and installing BP. If that is the case then just download BP to your hard drive extract it and FTP it to: your-site/wp-content/plugins on your server. You will need the credentials from the server to do this and that is something only you can acquire. I supplied a link that will hopefully help you get started if your not familiar with this process. Good luck!

There are other plugins out there that will accomplish this. This plugin is primarily for BP and bbPress pages. I may however integrate this in a future update. In reply to: BuddyPress missing Privacy Menu@nerdicus99
You must have been mistaken because that was never in the BP core. It was only offered as a plugin. The privacy settings in xprofiles has been there since 1.6 but the activity post privacy was never added to the core and it took BuddyPress Activity Privacy plugin to make that happen. I would like to see this included in the core eventually but that is up to the dev team to decide and if @megainfo supplies a workable patch. If not then hopefully the plugin will continue to be developed as BP matures. In reply to: New great plugin, buddypress-wall by @megainfo@hnla
I found it on github in case you or anyone else wants to check it out.

Where do you get it?In reply to: Getting Yoast SEO to work on all pages…In reply to: BP profile tabs@wlk-1
BuddyPress xProfiles ACL hasn’t been updated in almost 2 years so I doubt it is compatible with the current version of BP. You can always request support from the plugin authors support forum but from what I can see the author has not been active on that forum in over a year.In reply to: Arms Around #2@peterscaffidi

Also do a search on google and youtube for buddypress. In reply to: Custom Blog Page for each members@silvre
Anything is possible if you have the skill to accomplish it. What your trying to do shouldn’t be too hard if you know WP and BP. The person that could perhaps shed more light is @sbrajesh from http://buddydev.com since it is his plugin and he is one of the best BuddyPress developers out there period. Don’t discount however the other members that volunteer here because your in good company on this forum and there are lots of members with vast knowledge of BP.In reply to: Help with page landing after log-in@gunsblazen
Haven’t tried this one yet because I usually build my own redirect functions but it may fit your requirements.

Not a plugin but a tutorial. You may need to make adjustments depending on your theme but it is pretty straightforward if you know what parts need to be modified. I advise to only use this on a child theme as does the tutorial.

In dashboard/settings/buddypress/components make sure you click the box beside account settings and save. Otherwise it won’t show up!In reply to: [Resolved] How to delete users?@samuelboland
The user can also just click the my account menu in the top right of the toolbar then click settings/delete account. Either way it does the same thing. Good luck!In reply to: [Resolved] Getting Arms Around BuddyPressIn reply to: [Resolved] How to delete users?@samuelboland
Also note if you are logged in as the admin what @hnla said applies but you will not see the delete account link in profile/settings/delete account. In reply to: [Resolved] How to delete users?@samuelboland
If the user clicks profile in the my account menu in the top right of the toolbar they will be taken to profiles page. In the lower navigation click settings/delete account! In reply to: I can’y crop my avatar!@techknowledgic
I have never heard of anyone losing data by activating a different theme. That sounds kinda nuts to be honest. You may have to re-assign your menu though if you have made a custom menu and switch themes. I personally don’t know that theme and I shy away from anything that would make my content reliant on a particular theme. Just my opinion, but when push comes to shove it is a lot easier to transition from theme to theme when a theme uses WP standards. Activating twenty twelve is simple just go to dashboard/appearance/themes and activate it. If you decide to re-activate that other theme it should retain the data you previously had in the database. No harm no foul!In reply to: I can’y crop my avatar!@techknowledgic
Sounds like a theme issue. Have you tried activating twenty twelve theme to see if you can isolate it down to the theme? It sounds like a jquery issue at first glance. So try that and report back your findings.
