edit it to meet your requirement.In reply to: BuddyCamp Miami, 2013@mercime Hey thank you millions. I am excited and hopefully will get to view this presentation. One question I have though is which day will this be view-able? I see Word-camp is April 5-7th 2013 but what day and time shall I attempt to watch at http://wordpress.tv/ ? Thank you guys so much for allowing the access to less fortunate folks such as myself to be able to view the presentations it is appreciated very much. 🙂
In reply to: BuddyCamp Miami, 2013@mercime I signed up for this awesome opportunity the only thing now is being I have a slooooow internet connection I still wish the presentations could be uploaded via a torrent cause most times it is not possible for me to view streaming video so downloading it would be the most viable option! Anyway its just a thought. I appreciate whatever you folks can do for people like me with a slow connection! 🙂
In reply to: BuddyCamp Miami, 2013Just out of curiosity can you guys just upload a torrent file we can download to view the presentations? If you can that would be awesome towards novices like me that really want to help out. There is certain things most people do not understand in WordPress and that is how to hook into it. I am still a novice but I made a couple puny plugins, and I would like the pros to chime in and show the novices like me how to take it even further so I can be of more assistance.
In reply to: Sending private messages to non-friends@jrgiblette
Yes, as far as I know sending private messages with folk your not friends with is still out of the box, you would need custom code or a plugin to prevent it. Unless the core developers integrated it with the core in BP 1.7rc1 which I have not tested extensively yet then most likely you will need custom code if you decide to prevent it. If your fine with non-friends sending non-friends messages then that is default behavior.In reply to: BuddyCamp Miami, 2013@mercime

Thanks!In reply to: Fatal Error@ashraffayez Supply the entire error not just a portion of it because it usually leads somewhat to the root of the issue.

but I have made an attempt at creating a plugin for number 2.) with the help of @hnla and @chouf1 but I have not really sorted it out yet to my liking. Feel free to see if you can improve upon it. Get it here:

Use this code in your themes functions.php or bp-custom.php courtesy of @sbrajesh:
`
/**
* BuddyPress replaces the space with ‘-‘ which is not known to the user
* We remove the attached function to stop BP from circumventing the space in username
*/
add_action(‘bp_loaded’,’bpdev_remove_bp_pre_user_login_action’);
function bpdev_remove_bp_pre_user_login_action(){
remove_action( ‘pre_user_login’, ‘bp_core_strip_username_spaces’ );
}//add a filter to invalidate a username with spaces
add_filter(‘validate_username’,’bpdev_restrict_space_in_username’,10,2);
function bpdev_restrict_space_in_username($valid,$user_name){
//check if there is an space
if ( preg_match(‘/\s/’,$user_name) )
return false;//if myes, then we say it is an error
return $valid;//otherwise return the actual validity
}

For the sake of simplicity I added this code for you:
http://pastebin.com/DWhb11MZ
In the functions.php paste that code and it will sort you out.In reply to: [Resolved] How to stop xprofle fields from linkingJFYI it also needs to be named functions.php not function.php
In reply to: [Resolved] How to stop xprofle fields from linkingfunctions.php wont work if you didn’t add the opening and closing php tags that surrounds this code. It works for me so I am assuming your leaving out the php tags.
In reply to: [Resolved] How to stop xprofle fields from linking@charlietech
If your using a child theme then add a functions.php to it and add the code to it between opening and closing php tags. Never edit a theme direct because you will loose all changes if you update it. Always use a child theme to preserve custom edits okay?In reply to: [Resolved] How to stop xprofle fields from linkingAdd this to your themes functions.php or bp-custom.php:
`
/*
* Remove autolinks created in buddypress profiles
*/
function remove_xprofile_links() {
remove_filter( ‘bp_get_the_profile_field_value’, ‘xprofile_filter_link_profile_data’, 9, 2 );
}
add_action( ‘bp_init’, ‘remove_xprofile_links’ );
`In reply to: customized comment forms for custom post typesCreate an account on pastebin.com and create a new paste and provide the URL for the paste here. This forum doesn’t handle php code to well at the moment so you will have to do it on pastebin.

Not certain this is what you want but give it a try:
If not its going to require some custom coding.In reply to: customized comment forms for custom post types@homeschoolevents
Try posting what code you have on http://www.pastebin.com and providing the URL here because your code got stripped out.In reply to: How to do a facebook cover for your profie@charlietech
Sorry for the confusion but I am not Patrick. He is the author for the link I provided. I am still confused as to what your requirement is so please provide more details.In reply to: How to do a facebook cover for your profie@charlietech
What exactly do you mean by a facebook cover? Do you mean a landing page? If so try this tutorial by Patrick Cohen:
http://wpmu.org/how-to-build-a-facebook-style-members-only-wordpress-buddypress-site/LOL! I should have known this as I had EnGrande nacho’s at a mexican restaurant the other night but it didn’t click! Cheers!
