@richoz
A simple way would be to use a language file:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/customizing/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/
Personally on my own test site I used a function that removes the tab all together since the stream is unified between you and your friends and make this tab irrelevant.In reply to: [Resolved] Alternating topic colors?Assuming you correctly target the CSS elements you can try:
`
ul#topic-post-list li {
background-color: #555555;
}ul#topic-post-list li:nth-child(even) {
background-color: #888888;
}
`In reply to: Create private membership site with BuddyPress@studiomgr Have you tried this one yet:
https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bp
It is only designed to block buddypress pages, I use it and it works good for me.@ubernaut I think its french for large. 🙂
After a little sleep I decided to explain hooks further in hopes of giving a better understanding for novice users such as myself. The add_action (‘bp_head’, ‘my_functions_name’) specifically the bp_head in this this example tells WP and BP where to execute your function in this case the function would be my_functions_name. The way it hooks in this example is by calling bp_head followed by the name of your function. This way you do not have to manually call the function within a template file to make it work. I hope this makes sense. This is just an example and in some cases add_filter will be more appropriate so I hope folks find this a useful breakdown of how this works.
In reply to: Division by zero warning@richoz Yeah the plugin is a blessing. None of the credit belongs to me so @pollyplummer and Rich Fuller gets full credit. I just adjusted a couple things based on stuff I viewed on the net and it happened to work out and make it work I suppose the way most people expected too.
Also I would like to add that if more experienced users could point novices like me in the proper direction to gain more skills and a better understanding of buddypress then it would be great. Anyway I love you all!
If there is other folks more experienced that would like to share their experience then I suppose this is as a good thread as any to get this rolling. I love sharing what I have learned and I hope this thread will do good and give some insight as how folks can help themselves. Anyway I will do what I can to help here! I appreciate all contributions to this thread! 🙂

As this seems to be a duplicate post then I suppose it should be addressed there but ultimately its for the BP-moderators to make that decision.@mercime I have my fingers crossed too! I would like to see this become a reality! 🙂
In reply to: building Social network site/BuddypressThere is no cut and dried way you can prevent anyone from uploading a copyrighted image unless you just don’t allow images to be uploaded at all. As far as I know there is no possible way to automate whether or not an image has been copyrighted but if I am wrong I stand corrected. That is why its important to have moderators who can determine if there is a possible copyright infringement. As far as cyber-bullying goes then it would be wise to provide a link on your site to report the offender to you or your moderators and you deal with it accordingly. I hope this helps!
In reply to: Manage friendships from the admin toolYes, its possible with some custom coding. I am pretty new at this myself so I will leave it up to the experts to give the guidance you require!
@mercime Hey thank you a million times over. I am really happy to see this open to sugeestions!

This should be placed in Creating and Extending. My apologies!Maybe this is also covered by #1 but I think @shanebp ‘s blocking a member would be awesome as well as @r-a-y ‘s plugin to keep non-friends from sending private message’s, I also liked @modemloopers extended settings plugin when it was free. Overall I really would like to see privacy features taken to the next level. Me being a novice at coding though, all I can do is make suggestions and hope the real coders take the idea and make it a reality! Thanks!
@hnla Thanks for the advice and encouragement! I will do my best and when it is ready I will release it to the repository for others to use. Thanks for everything, I really appreciate it!
Just seeing if anyone has anything to add to this plugin which is free of charge. I really would appreciate some experienced buddypress developers helping out. And no I do not have money to hire a developer. Due to NAFTA I have not been able to find work in 2.6 years so if money is your agenda, I don’t have it but contribute if you can because it will be appreciated. Thanks everyone!
In reply to: My Buddypress SiteTry adding some more margin to the li elements in your toolbar because its uneven with the site name in the toolbar example add:
#wp-admin-bar li.no-arrow a {
margin-top: 3px !important;
}
Just a suggestion!JFYI If you change themes at any point you will have to make sure that the targeted CSS is the same, if not you will need to re-adjust the CSS selector in the code provided.
@grayson_marik
Glad I could assist you! 🙂In reply to: 1.6.5@hnla Sorry you beat me to helping! 🙂

I think @djpaul is trying to emphasize that you should never make an edit to your theme directly. Instead all edits should be on a child theme of the theme you are currently using because if you have made edits to the bp-default theme directly it will get lost in the upgrade. Any custom functions should be within this child themes functions.php and that is how you keep from losing your customizations.Or you could create a bp-custom.php which you place in your-site/wp-content/plugins
See:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/customizing/bp-custom-php/
And add this code:

This is assuming you correctly targeted the element you want to change.In reply to: buddybpress 1.7 and old theme structure
