    @shanebp Sorry I should have been a little more thorough with my testing but here is what I have found. If I am an admin and say I block user1 which is just a subscriber then user1 cannot see my activity. However if user1 blocks user2 in which they are both just subscribers user2 can still see user1’s activity in the activity stream. It also doesn’t block them on the members page. It seems so far that blocking only works for the admin.

    @shanebp And yes you are invisible despite the debug message in the activity stream if you have been blocked.

    Sorry I accidently forgot to deactivate one plugin and once I did the below error went away

    Also after you press the block button the text “block” turns into “error!”

    The plugin that caused the error was a modified version of the friends-only-activity-stream plugin so now its gone. Is there a way to turn those debug messages on and off?
    I’m using Windows 7, XAMPP PHP 5.4.7, FF 12, and Chrome.
    Hope this helps.

    In the activity stream it does block that members activities as well but it shows this message at the top of the activity stream:

    activity – where_sql:
    WHERE a.is_spam = 0 AND a.hide_sitewide = 0 AND a.type != ‘activity_comment’ AND a.user_id NOT IN (1) AND a.secondary_item_id NOT IN (1)

    Also when you press the load more activity button it outputs the same message every time the load more button is pressed.
    Once you get these errors debugged this will be a great contribution. Thanks again!

    Hey I am testing this as it sounds very handy. I am using WP 3.5.1 and BP 1.7b2.
    So far it does block the member your trying to block but when that blocked member goes to the member page this ugly code appears where that member that blocked you would have appeared in the members loop.
    `
    members – where sql:
    WHERE u.meta_key = ‘last_activity’ AND u.user_id NOT IN (1)
    `
    Also after you press the block button the text “block” turns into “error!”
    Another thing is when you refresh the page then the “error!” text turns into “unblock” so far that is the only way to unblock a blocked member.
    I hope this helps you debug. I am looking forward to using this plugin. Thanks!

    @djaul just out of curiosity is this error a defect of BP 1.6.4 or more of an incompatibility with PHP 5.4+ ? Thanks!

    @cikez Sorry but I am not too familiar with Artisteer themes structure. Maybe someone that has experience with these themes can jump in to lend you a hand. My apologies!

    I packaged a similar version that does the same thing for the people who prefer a plugin solution. Feel free to try it. Just download the zip file and install it like any other plugin.

    Okay I finally got it. Not certain it is totally right but it looks good in both chrome and firefox. I did have to create a div class in the members-loop.php called user-location surrounding the code from step 3 in the tutorial to be able to style it. The changes I made are in the below css in case anyone wants to try this. I also included a pic at the bottom to show the end result. Thank you both for your help! Cheers!

    @cikez did you copy the buddypress css directory folder as well as its contents to the root of your theme? If I am correct it needs to maintain its directory structure so in the root of your theme if you copied it correctly there will be a folder named css and inside it will contain buddypress.css

    @bphelp

    @karmatosed Actually I got confused because I have various installations of WP and BP on my localhost. Actually on my WP 3.5.1 install and BP 1.7b1 install using a child theme of “Responsive” I just use my child themes style.css to overide any buddypress css that I need too. Reason I do this is so if the “Responsive” theme gets updated then my child themes styles stay intact. Make sense?

    Sorry the above had a typo:
    use this instead:
    `
    /*
    Theme Name: Whatever you wanna name the child theme
    Theme URI: http://example.com/
    Description: Child theme name for whatever theme you chose
    Author: your name here
    Author URI: http://example.com/
    Version: 1.0 or whatever you want to number it
    Tags: whatever tags is appropriate if it is a a theme specific to buddypress then you will want to add “buddypress” to the tags sense 1.7 adding buddypress tag is not a necessity.
    */
    /*————————————————————-
    Custom CSS
    ————————————————————–*/
    @import url(“../whatever theme name you made a child theme of
    “case sensitive”/style.css”);
    `

    If your using a theme other than buddypress default within a child theme then things are gonna break when if you copied the bp-default themes style.css into your active theme. If your using a child theme based on something else then you need to add adjust and add this to your active themes style.css

    /*
    Theme Name: Whatever you wanna name the child theme
    Theme URI: http://example.com/
    Description: Child theme for whatever theme you choose
    Author: your name here
    Author URI: the theme name you made a child them of "case sensitive"
    Version: 1.0 or whatever you want to number it
    Tags: whatever tags is appropriate if it is a a theme specific to buddypress then you will want to add "buddypress" to the tags sense 1.7 adding buddypress tag is not a necessity.
    */
    /*-------------------------------------------------------------
    Custom CSS
    --------------------------------------------------------------*/
    @import url("../whatever theme name you made a child theme of
    "case sensitive"/style.css");

    Hi, yes I did add the members/members-loop.php to my child theme with the changes per the tutorial. That doesn’t seem to be the issue. Its the CSS styling that isn’t correct. I added the styles she had on the tutorial to my child themes style sheet. Anyway here is a pic so you can see whats going on. Thanks for your help! 🙂

    The error occurs in PHP 5.4+
    This is not really a fix but it should stop the error. Add it to your active themes functions.php
    `
    /* Stop errors if any */
    error_reporting(E_ERROR | E_PARSE);
    /* End stop Errors */
    `

    @cannedbear shared servers suck. Just from my experience I had a small private community with less than 10 members and I did a lot of heavy development on it and after one year the host scrapped and locked me out of my account saying it was a resource hog and that I would need to upgrade my account without any prior notice. Anyway, that is my experience.

    @bphelp

    IF you added
    @import url(“../yourchildtheme/style.css”);
    in your child themes CSS then you may need to add !important to overide the import css.
    Example:
    #some-style {
    text-align: center !important;
    }

    @txrunner have you reverted back to the default theme and deactivated all plugins other than BuddyPress?

    @bphelp

    @singfa sure you are silly 🙂 for not mentioning your setup details lol! It would be helpful to know what you have installed that may be a culprit!

    @singfa setting up a group is a prerequisite to creating a group forum. The group has to exist first before a forum can be created for it.

    @mareksgregs It restricts access to all BP pages. I have tested it but maybe you have some plugin, theme, or custom functions that conflicts with it. On a fresh install it works as it should.
