In reply to: New Private Community Plugin For BP
Sorry I forgot to mention I have tested it to work from WP 3.2.1 BP 1.5.1 through WP 3.5.1 BP 1.7 beta1 As long as your within this range it should work for you! Thanks!
In reply to: New Private Community Plugin For BP@mercime @hnla @modemlooper Sorry I meant to post this in Creating and Extending. Could one of you move it there please? Thank you!
@juanmaguerrero Very cool, is that a custom theme? I like it!
In reply to: Custom Menus Confusion?@hnla On second thought never mind, you can close this topic. I guess I just wish the admin in dashboard/appearance/menus was a little different, like I said its more of a WordPress thing than a BP thing. The part on the left says “Theme Locations” I think it would be more appropriate and less confusing if it said “Select Theme Menus” I know how to create custom menus but I have noticed that some new users get confused and I think the reason is because “Theme Locations” should be renamed to “Select Theme Menus” Anyway sorry for babbling about something that is probably not even relevant to this forum. Apologies!
In reply to: Login to continue?@mareksgregs The plugin in the I listed above https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bp/archive/master.zip needs to be downloaded as a zip file then you upload it and activate it on your site. It restricts access to BP pages for those who are not logged in and reirects them to the register page. Maybe you need to be more clear as to what your looking to accomplish.
@pdillon809 Your welcome and glad I could help! 🙂
Can you mark this as “Resolved?” In case other people need help with the same issue? Thanks!@pdillon809 Please let me know if the update takes care of it. I appreciate your feedback! Thanks!
Fixed the repository here:
https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bp
Should work fine now, sorry for the error from before I just overlooked a detail. Hope it works for you!In lines 14 through 17 in loader.php delete the code and replace with this:
`
function private_community_for_bp_init() {
require( dirname( __FILE__ ) . ‘/private-community-for-bp.php’ );
}
add_action( ‘bp_include’, ‘private_community_for_bp_init’ );
`
I made an error an I will update the repository on github.
Sorry!Yes I made a plugin that does that its been tested up to WP 3.5.1 and BP 1.7 beta 1. Its pretty simple so far, as its still in development. All you need to do is read the readme.txt for instructions about sitewide forums if that is what your using then activate it. Here is the link:
https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bpIn reply to: [Resolved] CSS help for member directory@mercime Thanks for your reply. The CSS she provides on that tutorial doesn’t work in my child themes style.css based on the BP 1.6.4 Default theme. I suppose its because she is using Twenty Twelve and BP 1.7 so the CSS selectors are different. I am just on a localhost test server so far. I guess what I am asking is I need help targeting the BP Default CSS selectors that is the equivalent of the selectors she used from Twenty Twelve Theme. I hope I am making sense! FYI I am testing both in firefox and chrome. I appreciate it!
In reply to: Help Needed Please – Complete NewbieYou will have to create a custom menu.
https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/how-to-set-up-your-main-site-navigation-using-the-built-in-wordpress-menus/
Then check the box beside register then add to menu. Save and refresh your front end to see the new menu with the register page.In reply to: Help Needed Please – Complete Newbie@awmeneca
Go to dashboard/settings/general and check the box “anyone can register” then created a new page name it “register” and publish it. then go to dashboard/settings/buddypress/pages and go do to where the register drop down box is and select the page you created and save. Should work then!@sbrajesh Any news on this? Thanks a million!
In reply to: Login to continue?This will prevent access to BP pages from non logged in visitors and redirect them to the registration page. Make sure to read the readme.txt for instructions for sitewide forums
https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bpIn reply to: BuddyCamp Miami, 2013@djpaul Any chance of it being broadcasted over skype or some kinda web cast? I would love to hear the presentations but I don’t have any money to do anything, either way thanks for all you and the core team does. I do appreciate buddypress. Thank you so much for the core teams work and time! 🙂
In reply to: BP 1.3.4 default theme css questions@p2ab There was no BP 1.3.4 version, do you mean BP 1.6.4? Use firefox extension firebug or chromes developers tools to target the elements you wanna change because there is many links, font shouldn’t be hard to target, and the header on here is a gradient so you will need a tool like colorpic http://www.iconico.com/download.aspx?app=ColorPic&type=free to inspect the color range and add it to your CSS http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9428893/how-do-you-make-a-gradient-background-in-css.
In reply to: How can I get the activity like facebooks?@chrisclayton Hi I was wondering from your code examples above what file or files would you place the examples in? Thank you!
In reply to: [Resolved] Where is activity stream privacy?@inkblots Thank you for your input. I guess I just feel that when the profile fields privacy options was introduced in BP 1.6 it seems like it would have made sense to have activity stream privacy as well. Whether its used or not it would make more sense because if you don’t want non friends seeing your profile then you probably don’t want them seeing your posts in the activity stream either. I wish the activity stream would have another scope so you could see your friends and your own activities in the stream only. Never the less I am grateful for the hard all the hard work the core team has done thus far. I guess we always don’t get everything we want in life though but thanks again!
In reply to: Getting profile data into the members loop@jmetzger631 I have had the same problem here. The best thing to do until its fixed is put the code on http://www.pastebin.com then put the link here that contains the code.
@sbrajesh That would be nice if you could do it, and make it dynamic for each users notifications. You will be my hero if this can be done. Thank you!
In reply to: [Resolved] Where is activity stream privacy?I am not being negative, it is just a question so please don’t feel like I am attacking anyone on this issue.
In reply to: Friends Count@montanamind okay sorry I could not help, this is above my skill level!
@sbrajesh Could you create a plugin that would do this and hook into the header in bp-default because your more qualified than me because I am kinda a noob? Thank you!
In reply to: Friends CountIf you created test users with your admin account then they won’t show up until the test user logs in.
