In reply to: Create private membership site with BuddyPress
Add this to bp-custom.php https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/customizing/bp-custom-php/
and it will prevent non-logged in users from accessing BP pages.
`
/* Block BP Pages For Non-Logged In Visitors */
function bp_block_pages() {
global $bp;
if ( bp_is_activity_component() || bp_is_groups_component() /*|| bbp_is_single_forum()*/ || bp_is_forums_component() || bp_is_blogs_component() || bp_is_page( BP_MEMBERS_SLUG ) ) {
// add components to be blocked to non-logged in visitors
if(!is_user_logged_in()) {
wp_redirect( get_option(‘siteurl’) . ‘/register’ );
} // Change /register to the page you want non-logged in visitors directed to
}
}
add_filter(‘get_header’,’bp_block_pages’,1);
/* End BP Blocked Pages */
/* Remove RSS Feeds */
function bp_remove_feeds() {
remove_action( ‘bp_actions’, ‘bp_activity_action_sitewide_feed’, 3 );
remove_action( ‘bp_actions’, ‘bp_activity_action_personal_feed’, 3 );
remove_action( ‘bp_actions’, ‘bp_activity_action_friends_feed’, 3 );

`@sbrajesh I have to say you are good at what you do! I appreciate your body of work as I am sure others do. That is why I mentioned it here because you have a great alternative and I have respect for you in a positive way. Anyway, thank you!
@juanmaguerrero Your right it is not as good as the one we did because it lacks the smoothness. I don’t like scrolling to the bottom and having to wait. I guess our plugin is a bit better but I have a lot of respect for @sbrajesh never the less and he is capable of making this just as good so I think I will bow down because I don’t wanna get involved with a showdown between you guys! Sorry!
Is there anyone who knows how to get this done? @naijaping did it on his BP site and I want to do the same please! What is the best course of action to accomplish this?
In reply to: Changing Navigation Labels@juanmaguerrero, @sbrajesh Has also created a cool activity auto load plugin. Great job @sbrajesh! http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-activity-autoloader/
In reply to: What do you think about my site?@findly What changed between the time you posted the topic? Its was only like 11 hours between the time you posted the topic to the time you closed your site down. All I will say is don’t get discouraged. Rome was not built in a day, and neither are great buddypress sites. Most great sites get features added little by little. I am not saying to stop focusing on other things because a lot of time you have to step back from development and when you get the urge to start developing again it comes with a renewed interest and fresh ideas. Anyway good luck!
In reply to: Create a menu item to the current user’s profileYou can add this code to bp-custom.php
Snippet courtesy of @mercime// Filter wp_nav_menu() to add profile link add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'my_nav_menu_profile_link' ); function my_nav_menu_profile_link($menu) { if (!is_user_logged_in()) return $menu; else $profilelink = '<li><a href="' . bp_loggedin_user_domain( '/' ) . '" rel="nofollow">' . __('My Profile') . '</a></li>'; $menu = $menu . $profilelink; return $menu; }In reply to: Profile as default subtab@wtravis no keep bp-custom.php in the plugins folder. its just a php file with no directory that sits in the plugin folder. If you created a folder in the plugins directory and put bp-custom.php in that folder then that is incorrect. I have the code working for me so I dunno why its not working for you.
@mercime yeah your right about street cred, I wasn’t dogging that developer for making the plugins premium I hope you understand. I don’t blame the developer because it takes time and can be a headache to code plugins, keep them updated, plus computers break and need to be replaced for developers to continue their work so its good to be compensated for your work because you never know when you may have to invest that compensation back into your equipment. Thank you for your advice and the luck, it is appreciated!
@mercime that is great news, thank you for the update!
@nicolerbencomo its located in:
yoursite/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/registration/register.phpMake sure in dashboard/settings/general/membership that the box is checked beside “Anyone can register”
In reply to: Profile as default subtab@wtravis Add this instead to bp-custom.php
`
define(‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’,’profile’);
function tricks_change_bp_tag_position() {
global $bp;
$bp->bp_nav[‘profile’][‘position’] = 10;
$bp->bp_nav[‘activity’][‘position’] = 20;

}
add_action( ‘bp_init’, ‘tricks_change_bp_tag_position’, 999 );add_action( ‘wp_head’, ‘tricks_change_bp_tag_position’,9 );
`In reply to: [Resolved] Login shows wrong URLWhy don’t you just use a tool like notepad ++ make a copy of your database file first then edit it with notepad++. Click Search>Find and delete all instances of .INFO then upload the copied and edited file to phpmyadmin or whatever stores your database?
@tizmo I am not creative with names so as it stands its just called “Activity Privacy”! It is still in development so it still needs a little more work. I will announce when its ready. Thanks!
@mercime I guess your right to a degree, but what if the plugin just has one simple purpose but is kinda complicated in its coding and you would like to make a few bucks for your efforts? If this is the case then having separate versions would not work because the one plugin does the only function it was created to do. I hope you understand what I mean by that. If you have a better suggestion I will welcome it. Thank you!
Yep, I know how!
I have a plugin but its not authored entirely by me. I made it work like how facebooks works. Basically I made it were you only see yourself and friends activity unless you are an administrator and then you see all activity. I don’t think I am doing freebee’s anymore though. Sorry I got bills to pay!
@omgbud The plugin is alive and well but is in a beta, I spent several hours on this the code running as a BP plugin. The link is expired because I don’t feel I thought things through enough and I had a moment of clarity so I would like to discuss it more with @juanmaguerrero. I don’t think it would be asking much for a donation to help with further development, better features, and better support. @modemlooper requires a donation now for the buddysuite plugin so in all fairness to me and @juanmaguerrero then we should also get compensated for our time because it can be frustrating at times and make you somewhat resentful. As far as I can see it took over a year for this plugin to come to light when other people that said it could not be done. Well I done it and it just works. I will let you know when a stable version is ready but most likely you will have to contribute a few bucks to get your hands on it. Sorry and thanks!
@chouf1 Perfect fix, your my hero for today! Thank you so much!
Oops sorry wrong link, here is the right one!
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?8flb60tcc4e5vlcIf anyone would like to try out this plugin here is a link. Its a beta and its not perfect and needs some work, and I am not a great coder or an expert by any means but from my test it works from WP 3.2.1 BP 1.5.1 up to WP 3.5.1 and BP 1.7b1.
If you can improve this plugin then please share it here. Please see the notes section in the readme.txt. Thanks and enjoy!

In reply to: Profile and Setting not shown@afjsystem Its not common but you will need to share more info about your installation including WP/BP versions, current theme, plugins installed, any custom functions in functions.php or in bp-custom.php.
