Like agck said, you would go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading, and set the “Front page displays” setting to “A static page (seleect below)”, then choose “Activity Stream” from the “Front Page” drop-down menu.
In reply to: Get IP address that can pass current $user_ID?My guess, you’re using the WP-Ban plugin. You would have to write your own function to get the IP address, and the store it somewhere, most likely in the usermeta table.
It’s still the same answer. There is a way, but it would take code. You would need to use hooks from the AD Intergration plugin and hooks/functions from BP to handle this. The reason I said talk to the plugin author is because you might be able to request the the plugin author adds this as a feature.
The ‘bp_after_group_forum_post_new’ hook is used to add data to the template, rather than to process the data. So instead of manually editing the forum.php template, you would do something like:
`cg_add_post_metacat_html() {
echo ”;
}
add_action( ‘bp_after_group_forum_post_new’, ‘cg_add_post_metacat_html’ );`To process the post data, you would do something like:
`function cg_postcatagory( $post_id = false ) {
if ( empty( $post_id ) || empty( $_POST ) )
return false;$post_id = (int) $post_id;
$postmeta = $_POST;$cg_newmeta = ( cg_newmeta( $post_id, $postmeta ) ) ? true : false;
return $cg_newmeta;
}
add_action( ‘bp_forums_new_post’, ‘cg_postcatagory’ );`You’ll also need to adjust your newmeta function to something like:
`function cg_newmeta( $id, $postcat ) {
global $catagory, $wpdb, $bbdb;do_action( ‘bbpress_init’ );
$wpdb->query( $wpdb->prepare( “INSERT INTO $bbdb->meta ( meta_id, object_type, object_id, meta_key, meta_value ) VALUES (%d, %s, %d, %s, %s )”, $catagory->meta_id, ‘bb_cgcat’, $id, ‘cg_catagory’, $postcat ) );
}`That would be something to ask the authors of the AD Integration plugin, but I would suspect that you would need to use a plugin provided hook, and the write you’re own custom function to do this.
In reply to: Get IP address that can pass current $user_ID?The functions are located within the WP code, but there is no get_IP function.
In reply to: Get IP address that can pass current $user_ID?After a second look you should be using `$members_template->member->id` or `get_IP( $bp->displayed_user->id );`. If either of those don’t fix it, then it’s the get_IP function.
In reply to: Get IP address that can pass current $user_ID?@VegasParty607 First, there is no one dedicated to answering questions on the forum. It’s all volunteer. Sorry no one has replied, but repeatedly posting isn’t going to make anyone want to help you.
Sencond, your code for displaying the IP address looks correct, so the problem is likely within the get_IP function. Without seeing the function it’s hard to tell.
In reply to: remove Create New GroupYou might want to try this (https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-restrict-group-creation/)
There is a ticket on Trac to make this easier (https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1150).
In reply to: There are two register pagesThere should only be one. http://thechillax.com/wp-login.php?action=register should redirect to http://thechillax.com/register/. Is this not the case?
In reply to: excerpt lengthDepends on where you’re trying to alter the excerpts. If you’re trying to change the exceprt length of a blog post, then this should work. Otherwise, you’ll want to take a look at `bp_create_excerpt()`. As of right now, this doesn’t have a filter, so you’re a bit stuck. If you could post a feature request ticket on Trac (http://trac.buddypress.org) explaining what need and reference this post, I’ll take a look at creating a patch to remedy this.
In reply to: save to favorites?That site is using a custom plugin. That plugin may piggyback on BP favorites, but it’s hard to tell.
Everything should work if you’re viewing your own profile. `bp_is_friend()` doesn’t return a bool. It returns on of the following: ‘is_friend’, ‘not_friends’, or ‘pending’. In this case you’ll likely want to do `bp_is_friend() == ‘is_friend’` in your ‘if’ statement. That should get things running.
In reply to: Picture thumbnails not showingSounds like an issue with one of the plugins. If you’re getting the red ‘x’, I believe that means that the link to the link to the image is wrong. You might want to post this question in the group forums of those two plugins here on BP.org. You’ll probably get a better response there.
In reply to: Date selector bug?This bug has been fixed on trunk (future 1.3). You can visit the above ticket for more information. Thanks to @lucianop for the ticket!
In reply to: Blog activity stream loopin the code you linked, try changing `bp_has_activities()` to `bp_has_activities( ‘action’ => ‘new_blog_post’, ‘primary_id’ => (blog id goes here) )`
In reply to: 1.2.6 upgrade date offset!!I can confirm the problem. The issue occurs if you have a negative GMT offset. Since xprofile dates are saved for midnight of the chosen day, anyone with a negative GMT offset will have their date shifted backwards, which then displays as the day previous to the one chosen.
ie –
Date Chosen: January 4th, 2011
Saved in Database as : January 4th, 2011 at 12:00am GMT
Timezone: Central Standard Time (-0600 GMT)
After bp_format_time(): January 3rd, 2011 at 6:00pm CSTI’ve added a patch to https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2779 to fix the issue.
It is, indeed, a theme issue. You should be able to fix things based on the info here: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2679#comment:1
Yes, @hnla ‘s suggestion was the correct suggestion. That’s the only way you’re going to figure out the issue. You disable all your plugins, you’ll probably have to rename the buddypress folder to allow access the the admin panel, but then you can use the bulk edit abilities in the plugin panel to deactivate every plugin at once. Then start from scratch. Activate BP, and minimally configure it, then one-by-one, reactivate your plugins until you find the culprit.
In reply to: default crop avatar selection is not working@intimez thanks for the info. What version of Chrome and Firefox are you using?
I said possible related, because who knows exactly what “can’t crop” means. It could mean they are completely unable to crop, or it could mean that it’s the same issue as you. That’s why it’s always good to give as much detail as possible. I am however inclined to agree with you since you’re having the issue on Chrome and Firefox.
As far as posting images on Trac, you just click the add attachment button. Make sure you fill in the “Description” box when adding an image so people know what they’re about to see.
From your images, it looks like you were uploading a transparent gif or png. Is this correct? If so, which one? If it’s a png file, is it 8-bit, or 24-bit? Would you mind posting, for download/testing, the actual image you used where you got the error. Along with this, do you get the error on every image you try, or was it just that particular image? I know that’s a lot of questions, but they help.
In reply to: default crop avatar selection is not working@intimez
Saw your ticket on Trac. Can you give some more info on your setup? What kind of file (jpeg, gif, png, etc)? PHP version? Windows or Linux server? Browser/browser version? There is what seems to be a similar/related report of this issue here (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/ie8-cant-crop-avatar-last-step-of-registration-for-buddypress-1-2-5/) using IE8.Haha, yeah, I just saw a post you made a little bit ago where you got it to work. At least we know for the next time.
In reply to: need some ajax guidanceOr do what @LPH2005 did
In reply to: need some ajax guidanceWrap them in
tags. You have to strip out the beginning () PHP tags, otherwise that code will be stripped.@LPH2005
I’ve updated my post. Take a look again, because bbPress strips out php tags, and like the code you tried to post, it gets stripped beyond recognition and usability.
