    Here’s what you’ll need:

    /* Load the AJAX functions for the theme */
    require_once( TEMPLATEPATH . '/_inc/ajax.php' );

    /* Load the javascript for the theme */
    wp_enqueue_script( 'dtheme-ajax-js', get_template_directory_uri() . '/_inc/global.js', array( 'jquery' ) );

    /* Add the JS needed for blog comment replies */
    function bp_dtheme_add_blog_comments_js() {
    if ( is_singular() ) wp_enqueue_script( 'comment-reply' );
    }
    add_action( 'template_redirect', 'bp_dtheme_add_blog_comments_js' );

    If you’re just customizing the default theme like anaon (or at least not heavily customizing), then your best route to go is to create a child theme. All of the ajax stuff will be handled by the default theme, and you don’t have to worry about things like this.

    I’m not able to reproduce this. Did either of you create a child theme, or did you just customize the default theme?

    @anaon

    I just checked, and the members page seems to be working. Did you figure it out, or is it magic?

    Have either of you updated to the latest version of BP, 1.2.3?

    I haven’t tried anything, but I did see some filters that would allow this sort of thing to take place.

    You actually don’t want folder permissions as 777. On some hosts, 777 even cause an “Internal Server Error 500” error. It also means anyone and everyone can read/write/execute in that folder. At the most, you should have 755. Some hosts may differ on this, but in general, these rules follow. I don’t know that 755 will fix anything, but it may, so give it a try.

    For the rest of the questions:

    What kind of server are you hosted on?

    What version of WP/WPMU are you using?

    What version of BP are you using?

    This might be a bug. I know a few tickets have shown up on trac related to this. I don’t know that they were specifically about the alphabetical ordering, but they involved this. When I get more time, I’ll see if there’s a ticket already posted.

    I just tried the code you posted above, and it works. I get all the correct output. Are you actually logged into the site when you test this. The way the function works is that it won’t print any of the notification menu unless you are logged in. Also, I would actually move the my_bp_adminbar_notifications_menu() function to your theme’s functions.php file, and then leave the <?php if( function_exists('my_bp_adminbar_notifications_menu') ) my_bp_adminbar_notifications_menu(); ?> as is.

    All of this is certainly doable. Looks like andrea_r has the menus/links covered. andrea_r at one time had a plugin that allowed you to show posts from all blogs, but I think it worked in the sidebar. you might be able to adapt that, but to get all the blogs to show on one page, you’ll need to do some custom code.

    After digging into the code, I don’t believe this is currently possible without come core hacks.

    It is not a deprecated function. How are you calling the function? Is there any output at all? You should at least get a menu item that says “Notifications,” but no count may show.

    @Chris, did you ever get things figured out? I’ve got the same question.
