In your register template registration/register.php you need to move the line,
bp_the_profile_field_description()
, into each type of xprofile field (
if ( 'textbox' == bp_get_the_profile_field_type() ) :,if ( 'textarea' == bp_get_the_profile_field_type() ) :,if ( 'selectbox' == bp_get_the_profile_field_type() ) :, etc) below the label code of the respective xprofile field type.For example. For the textbox field type you would do the following: http://pastebin.com/EJUTePGn
(Tried to post this in the forum, but it seems that the bbPress code strips out php tags no matter what you wrap them in)
Looks like you have things properly set up. I would search the de_DE.po file for strings on the wp-login.php file and make sure they have German translations for them. This seems very weird.
I do apologize. You didn’t present this as being at all related. Let me see if I understand what you are saying, as you have yet to clearly define your problem. Are you saying that when you add something like define( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 2 ); to your wp-config.php/bp-custom.php all BP pages show the members list?
In reply to: Fatal ErrorIt looks like the Buddymatic theme wasn’t deactivated properly. Have you changed any files in the bp-default theme? Try deleting the buddymatic theme and see what happens then.
In reply to: Status updatesI’m sure it is possible to update both using some javascript. Twitter essentially does this on your homepage when you’re logged in. Javascript is not my strong suite so I couldn’t say for sure. As far as setting a character limit for you status updates, you would use the ‘bp_activity_content_before_save’ filter located in the BP_Activity_Activity::save() function, in the file bp-activity/bp-activity-classes.php.
It sounds like you haven’t added the German language file for WP. This page should already be translated.
@LOOOL
This is a thread about getting a blank site in WP 3. You don’t have a blank site, and in fact, you seem to have a completely different issue. Please start a new topic instead of hijacking @Retroriff‘s.You are correct. The two Trac tickets only fixed friend counts. The BP Followers plugin is a separate issue, and would require code change to that plugin. I would try posting in the plugin forum (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-followers/forum/) to get that issue resolved, or to at least bring it to Andy’s attention.
It is true that WP and WPMU were merged in 3.0, but the MU, now called Multi-site, functionality has to be explicitly turned on. Since you don’t seem to have the wpmu_validate_blog_signup() function available to you (as revealed by the fatal error), I’m guessing you didn’t explicity turn on multi-site, or you didn’t do it properly. The WP developers added a few hoops to jump through to enable multi-site to discourage the casual user from borking their site. These hurtles will be removed in a future release, likely 3.1, when the developers have more time make it user-friendly for most users.
I’m guessing you’re using WP single/standard, and not WPMU/WP Multisite. The BuddyPress Groupblog plugin was written for WPMU/WP Multisite. The function, wpmu_validate_blog_signup(), is a WPMU/WP Multisite only function, which is why you get the Fatal Error. Because of the nature of standard WP versus WPMU/WP Multisite, I don’t expect you’ll get the group blog functionality on a standard WP installation… not anytime soon at least.
In reply to: Editing Language file errorWhat are you using to create your custom translation file? The .mo file should contain something.
This has been reported (https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2411) and fixed (https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/3044). However, the fix won’t be available until 1.2.5 is released, unless you are comfortable editing code. Hope this helps.
In reply to: Gravator ProblemAvatars are being displayed, just not member uploaded avatars. This could be a number of things, and since you’re using a custom theme, this adds to the difficulty of helping you with such little information. Please give us more information like WP/BP versions, plugins, etc. You might also want to search the support forums (https://buddypress.org/support/) for instances of your issue.
Yes. You will need to edit your theme (https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/), and delete the instances where the “All Members” activity links are added. In the default theme, you’ll find them in activity/index.php and members/index.php.
In reply to: Show specific avatarNo worries. Glad you got it fixed.
Do you still get the error if you deactivate all the plugins except BP while using the BP default theme?
In reply to: Show specific avatarI just tested this, and the code works. You may need to make sure apostrophes around each array item (width,height,item_id) are in fact standard apostrophes not single quotation marks, or single curly quotes as some call them. BP seems to transform apostrophes to single curly quates which would cause the code to fail.
In reply to: Registration Options Questions ????If you are running the latest version of BP, then you can run WP/WPMU as long as they are 2.9.2+. What are the problems you are having?
In reply to: Show specific avatarThe user_id argument doesn’t exist because there is no user_id argument. The argument that accepts a user id is the item_id argument as I stated above. Try this:
echo bp_core_fetch_avatar( array( ‘width’ => 30, ‘height’ => 30, ‘item_id’ => 1 ) );
If all you need is the thumbnail, then you don’t need the ‘type’ argument, as it defaults to thumbnail.
In reply to: Show specific avatarHave a look at bp_core_fetch_avatar(). It accepts a number of arguments you’ll want to explore for your use case. The most important being $item_id, which in your case would be your user id number and that user id of your teacher.
In reply to: Get Each Blogs Description@parkstreet
In case you want to give it a try later, the reason the filter didn’t work is because of the fourth parameter in add_filter(‘bp_blog_description’, ‘get_users_blog_description’,10,2). The fourth parameter is for the number of accepted arguments. The number of accepted arguments is determined by the number of arguments passed by the corresponding apply_filters(). In the case of ‘bp_blog_description’, only one argument is passed, which is the blog description. However, you are telling the add_filter() function that apply_filters() is sending two arguments its way, which in turn causes it to fail when it only receives one. The fourth parameter defaults to one, which is what you want for your example, soadd_filter(‘bp_blog_description’, ‘get_users_blog_description’,10);
should do the trick.
In reply to: Activity stream as front page in BP 1.2.4, WP 3.0 b2Just to clear up what @mercime and @hnla said, BP 1.2.4 was, in fact, released to not only fix outstanding issues in the 1.2.x branch, but to also improve support for WP 3.0:
This highly anticipated version provides fixes to 74 reported tickets and adds improved support for WordPress 3.0 to help ensure a safe and worry free upgrade. (https://buddypress.org/2010/05/buddypress-1-2-4/).
There has been a ticket reported as stated in a earlier post to this topic. From looking at Trac, it looks like there might be a 1.2.5 release since WP 3.0 won’t be out until mid-June at the earliest, and the BP 1.3 branch can’t really be finalized until WP 3.0 is stabilized/finalized. This is obviously an issue people are having, so if anyone wants to go and add some info to the ticket about your setup it would likely help get the issue resolved.
In reply to: how to add " Reply – You must log in to post."Take a look at bp-default/groups/single/forum/topic.php. You can it from there customize from there? Instead of directly customizing the default theme, you might consider a child theme https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/.
In reply to: Buddy-Bar / CSS ?First, have you tried clearing your browser cache for IE? IE can be a bit overzealous about caching sometimes. It may be a bug, but we don’t know what version of IE you’re referring to. Also, what do you mean by “when I move out of the field with the mouse?” The CSS above does not the :hover selector, so your mouse position should have nothing to do with it.
