In reply to: Avatar uploads fail on Buddypress Multisite
You can add the following line to your wp-config.php file the tell WP where your wp-content folder is located.
`define( ‘WP_CONTENT_DIR’, ‘/path/to/your/wp-content’ );`
Make sure you leave off the trailing slash. That may fix things, and it’s an easy fix/test.
In reply to: How to contribute to Buddypress code developmentChild themes don’t restrict anything. You can have a child theme that completely overwrites the parent theme’s code. The idea behind a child theme is that it allows uniformity, and something for plugin authors to count on when it comes to hooks and such.
Also, most of the changes you’d like to see are changes that would need to happen in core, with minimal code changes to the theme, and a few of them would be doable as plugins.
In reply to: Error For People With No Friendship ConnectionsHow did you go about setting the homepage to the users friends activity stream?
In reply to: Create group only by adminOh yeah, it would add an option in the dashboard too.
In reply to: Create group only by adminThere’s a ticket on Trac that would make this a filter, and would mean that one line of code in your themes function.php could clear everything up (https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1150).
In reply to: HELP! Lost members directoryWell WP Super Cache is not very compatible with BP sites. Now that your .htaccess has changed, try logging into the dashboard and going to settings > permalinks, then resave your permalinks settings. This will set your .htaccess to work correctly with pretty permalinks again. Hopefully, that fixes the issue.
In reply to: How to have a view counter of the topicYeah, that’s the plan. I should get to it by this weekend, but sometimes life happens
In reply to: How to contribute to Buddypress code developmentYou can use svn, but you want have commit access (http://svn.buddypress.org). As for reporting bugs, and viewing what needs to be fixed, you can do that on Trac (http://trac.buddypress.org). You’ll use the same login credentials to post on Trac that you use to post here.
In reply to: New sites generating bad subdomain urls for blogsOkay. Well it’s set for 1.3 which will probably be out soonish (disclaimer: soonish is the desire, but “soonish” could be a month or more). I’ll see if I can work on a patch for the rumored 1.2.9 branch, which should help bridge that gap until 1.3 comes out.
In reply to: How to have a view counter of the topic@gunju2221 I’m well aware that bbPress views weren’t in that file. I wasn’t answering that question. I was responding the the question of where bb_*_topicmeta() functions were located.
@lockamiz23 That code is a start, but it’s going to need to be cleaned up, and customized to integrate with BP. If I get some time, I’ll see if I can get it working
Don’t count on anything soon though.In reply to: New sites generating bad subdomain urls for blogsI believe this is your issue (https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1796). If so, please add any new information you might have. You can use the same login credentials that you use here.
In reply to: How to have a view counter of the topicIn the bbPress code, in the bb-includes/functions.bb-meta.php file.
In reply to: How To Remove Sub-Reply Button?You might try this rather than a core hack.
`function my_filter_activity_comment_reply_links( $content ) {
preg_replace( ‘().*?()’, ”, $content );return $content;
}
add_filter( ‘bp_activity_recurse_comments’, ‘my_filter_activity_comment_reply_links’ );`I have not tested this, but, fingers crossed, it should work.
In reply to: Broken forums in single groupDoes the URL version of the group name match any other folders or URLs within your site?
In reply to: aggregate forum posts in the activity streamIt could be possible, but with the current activity stream structure, it would require some decent code work.
In reply to: “Add Friend” link displaying twince on member pageIt’s most likely not because you’ve called a file more than once, but more likely because you’re using a custom theme of some sort. Friend buttons are now added through a do_action/add_action combo, which is why a lot of people with custom theme files ended up with duplicate buttons.
In reply to: How to have a view counter of the topicThis code doesn’t exist by default. You could easily write is using the `bb_*_topicmeta()` functions.
In reply to: sync uploads folder across multiple serversThere aren’t any avatar js files. The avatar code is output in the section of the html. The bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php file handles the actual cropping and saving of avatar files.
In reply to: HELP! Lost members directoryYou’ll also have to go into your site’s .htaccess and remove the wp-super-cache rules. I can’t remeber if there is a setting for WP Super Cache to do this on it’s own.
In reply to: HELP! Lost members directoryI would start by turning off WP Super Cache, and see if that changes things. It looks like all the pages are 404-ing.
In reply to: sync uploads folder across multiple serversThe avatar code is in bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php.
In reply to: please help, bbpress white pageI’m guessing it’s one of your plugins, but who knows which one. Your best bet is deactivate all your plugins except BP. If the white screen still happens, then there’s an issue with your BP installation. If the white screen doesn’t happen, then reactivate your plugins one at a time. Test for the white screen each time you reactivate a plugin. When you activate a plugin, and the problem is reproduced, then you know which plugin is causing the problem.
I think that was a javascript issue. It thought it was still a normal reply. Give the code below a shot.

In reply to: Avatar uploads fail on Buddypress MultisiteThis, more than likely, isn’t a BP issue, and BP just piggybacks on WP’s settings. More than likely this is an issue where WP Multisite hasn’t been set up properly, of possibly an issue with your PHP install.
@janismo Yep. I see the problem. Sorry about that. It’s a lot harder to catch your mistakes when you’re not using a dedicated code editor
Try this instead.`
